My Life Started at the End of the World - 10. Chapter 10 - Confusion - I Knew You Were Trouble
Skylar's POV
Why do I feel so conflicted about this? Why is it so hard for me to kiss Greyson. He just wanted to try a little kiss the other night but I didn't know if I wanted to. It was like my mind said yes but my heart said no... or maybe the other way... I don't know I'm confused!
So here I sit in my math class tapping my pencil on my desk pondering. Booker snapped me out of it, “What's the plan for your birthday this year?”
“Oh... I don't know yet...” Even though it's in a few days.
Let me explain something. I've never really been popular so I only ever invited Booker to my place. This year though I wanted to invite Greyson over too... I just don't know how to ask him.
“Are you gonna ask Greyson to come with us?” I nodded. “You're just playing your shy card aren't you?” Again I nodded.
I pouted, “I don't like confrontation.” Booker rolled his eyes. “How should I ask him?”
He stared at me blankly, “Just ask him. If he says no, which why would he, then he said no. Like I said though, Greyson likes you and I think he would have to be forced out of the country to miss your birthday.”
That made me blush. Booker is smart, he gets straight As all the time. He even has general knowledge about everything. Well, he would like to think that but he doesn't know EVERYTHING. Just most things.
“Will you help me?”
Booker rolled his eyes, “You're hopeless... Yes, of course I will.” Just then the bell went signalling the end of the day. “Woot! End of the day, lets go home.”
He might be smart but Booker doesn't like school very much. I got up and followed him out into the hall. “Booker wait up!” He stopped and waited for me. “You always leave so fast.”
“Math sucks, I wanna leave that place as soon as I can.” He turned down a hallway that was heading away from both of our lockers, I followed. Booker looked back with a sly smile on his face. “Confused?”
“Ya...” Then I thought about it for a moment, “Wait, we're gonna go talk with Greyson now?” He nodded.
And just as I said that Greyson appeared through a crowd. Booker called out, “Greyson!” He turned around and looked towards us, “It's Booker and Sky!”
His smile went from ear to ear when he heard that. “Hey guys!” He waited for us to reach him before continuing. “What's up?”
Booker looked at me. “Nothing really, math class was boring.” He gave me another look basically telling me to tell him or he would. That would be even more embarrassing, not telling him myself. “Sooo, it's my birthday in a week...”
“Awesome! What are you doing for it?” I said nothing. “You're doing something, right?”
I blushed, “I don't know... I'm thinking about having some people come over.”
“Oh, speaking of that, my mom is going to be late tonight so she got me to ask your mom to come stay for dinner.” He always smile whenever he hears me or mentions me. It's kinda cute.
We ended up saying our goodbyes to Booker who biked to school. We found our way over to mom's office. Aidyn was there waiting already.
Aidyn's been nicer lately but still not like we used to be. We've hung out a few times but not for very long. Noah always seams to call or text when we are doing something. It's kinda annoying since he always ditches me for him.
Anyways mom finished up her after school things and we made our way home. It was a quiet car ride. Besides Aidyn's cellphone ringing ever few minutes and his slight giggles as he would read the messages.
When we got home Greyson did his best to lead me to my bedroom. He might have hit a wall or two... or three... and almost fell down the stairs. I stopped him from falling at least.
Before we even got into my room he brought up the kiss thing, “Will you kiss me today?”
I turned around, “Really, we're not even in my room yet?” Cue Sam scratching at the glass door to go outside. “Let me get Sam and we'll talk about it in my room.”
I opened the door and Sam ran in. Closing the door I turned into Greyson who pressed his lips against mine. For a blind guy he has some good aim.
I stood there stunned. I didn't move, didn't want it to continue but... I didn't want it to stop either. We just kinda stood there.
But then he stopped. He blushed and backed off, “Sorry...”
What was that? Like, I know it was a kiss but it felt like it was more... It felt like sparks flying off our lips. I don't understand.
The rest of our time together was spent awkwardly watching TV. We didn't really say much... I'm sure our minds didn't go off the kiss we had.
Aidyn's POV
Noah went home from school early today. He had a doctor's appointment at 4pm and couldn't make it in time if he left after school. It was just a 'make sure Noah's fine' visit.
The entire afternoon we were texting though. He kept me updated the entire time. From when his name got called up, to when he got out of the check up. Of course he was fine.
Noah – I'm perfect!
Me – PERFECT!
Noah – Yep! You're coming over, Auntie said we can pick you up.
Me – Am I now?
Noah – What you telling me you don't wanna come over?
Me – Shut it! When you getting to my place?
Noah – 10... 20 minutes?
Me – KK see you soon!
I went and asked my mom to go over to Noah's, “Noah is coming to pick me up and hang out at his place, ok?”
“Yes that's fine. What are you doing for dinner?”
I shrugged, “I assume that Noah has asked his Aunt for me to stay over or something.”
She gave me a look. “If You're not getting dinner from his Aunt, you can go after you ear here.” And like that the conversation died. That was it, no argument allowed.
Like he said 15 minutes later he showed up in front of my place. I ran out and explained the situation to them. His Aunt said she can feed me so I went back inside and told my mom I was good to go and left. Didn't even give her time to reply.
Within minutes we made it to Noah's and secluded ourselves in his part of the house. He went and told me all about the doctor appointment. It was cute how he explained everything. Waving his hands around and doing 'exactly what he did at the doctors.'
“Sounds like a entertaining doctor visit.”
Noah smiled, “My doctor really is a nice lady. She's always bugging me about how much wax I have in my ears, though.”
“Clean them out then!”
He made a discussed looking face, “But q-tips hurt!”
I rolled my eyes, “Then you're not doing it right.” He just stuck out his tongue and pushed me. Or at least tried to. I'm pretty sturdy compared to him.
So from him pushing me, it escalated into full on wrestling. Noah was trying his best to push me down to no prevail. I ended up pinning him, so he couldn't move, on the floor.
He tried to free himself, “Get off me!”
I just smiled, “Why would I do that?” Noah put on a frowny face. “Frowns don't work with me, you should know that.”
“Fine.” He smiled, showing his teeth, “Please?”
I got off him. I just laughed as he frowned again, “So, little Noah, about what I asked the other day.”
He looked over at me pondering, “The anal thing?” I nodded. “I have an idea... but I don't think you'll like it.”
“Do tell.”
He went really quiet and kept looking away from me. Noah rarely does this, something tells me I'm not going to like this at all.
He sighed and spoke, “I want to put a condition on my... virginity.”
“Which is..?” He spoke so quiet I couldn't hear him. “I couldn't hear you Noah.”
“...Coming out...” Was all I caught.
“Noah you need to speak up.” Noah looked away again.
“You can't be mad...”
“I won't I promise.”
He sighed again, “I want us to be out of our closet before we... do that.”
Well he's right I didn't like the idea. I wasn't angry though, I understood where he was coming from. The idea of it all, though, was kinda scary to me.
“Noah, I don't think I can do that right now...” He nodded. Noah knew what he was doing. He wanted us to be free to express ourselves in public before doing 'that'. “It scares me.”
“The big and almighty Aidyn scared of the other side of his closet walls.”
I nodded. “It's a fear of the unknown. I'm a semi popular kid in highschool who plays sports. I'm that stereotypical guy that will either fall from grace or remain at his spot... and loosing everything scares me...”
Noah nodded, “I know... I just want us to be us everywhere.”
“I will try okay? I don't promise it'll be anytime soon but I think you're right.”
“Take your time Aidyn, I don't wanna rush you.”
Our hang out turned from serious to fun rather quickly. The idea of coming out of the closet never left my mind, though... and it was scaring the shit out of me!
