Demon of fire and other poems of lust, insanity and devotion - 9. I refuse

I refuse to let go.

I refuse to believe

I’ll never hold you close

ever again.

I refuse to understand

that this love is gone,

that I’ve lost

what I held most dear.

I dare not believe

all is lost,

and I’ll never see

my reflection in your eyes

ever again.

I don’t want to believe.

I refuse to believe.

I refuse to let go.

I love your intense use of simple language, though I do not like to think of you hurting. This is a poem of hard and difficult beauty.

Hey Parker!

One of the advantages of being a poet is daring to feel with such intensity and being able to put it in words. Thanks for your feedback!
