Men in Paradise - 11. Chapter 11 - The Poultry
In Southeast Asia, early domestication of chickens is likely, as the word for domestic chick (*manuk) is part of the reconstructed Proto-Austronesian language (see Austronesian languages). Chickens were the domestic animals of the Lapita culture, the first Neolithic culture in Oceania, along with dogs and pigs. The araucana, raised in southern Chile by the Mapuche people, is an uncommon variety of chicken that has its origins in South America. Araucanas lay blue-green eggs, some of which are tailless and some of which have tufts of feathers around their ears. In 2007, the findings of a study of chicken bones found on the Arauco Peninsula in south-central Chile were published by an international team of researchers. Radiocarbon dating revealed that the chickens were pre-Columbian, and DNA analysis showed that they were associated in Polynesia to prehistoric chick populations. The first pictures of chickens in Europe were found in 7th century Corinthian pottery. Chickens were spread by Polynesian seafarers and reached Easter Island in the 12th century AD, where, apart from the Polynesian rat, they were the only domestic animal. They were housed in extremely strong stone-built chicken coops.
Afridi Vahid Tahiri's PoV
When I woke up the next morning, I was lying naked between Jai and Justin.
I was too drunk last night.
Justin's long hands were over my shoulders, we got used to sleeping in a tiny place inside the cabin for so long with our bodies, legs, and arms touching on each other for space, we still couldn't stop that habit even when we had enough space.
I took his hands away and got up. I searched for my trouser and found them in a corner of the loft lying underneath Sakthi's legs. I took it out with an effort and worn it.
My chest, abs, and everywhere down below were dirty.
I slowly climbed down the ladder and came out of the house. It was a bright and sunny day as usual. I walked towards the seashore. Waves were glittering in gold due to sunshine. I found a beautiful seashell on the shore in blue and silver. I bent down my knees and took it into my hand. I sat there watching the waves for some time.
I didn't even care much to wash my chest and other parts of my body that still smell like chlorine. I have decided to go to the water stream for a bath once Justin wakes up to clean the dirt out of my body, I knew it wasn't just mine, we all slept like a bunch of rabbits last night.
I didn't care much about what happened last night. I didn't even put much thought to it either, it was just drunken fun with friends. But I wasn't sure if Jai felt that way when he woke up that day. He was hesitant that night, he wasn't comfortable at all. He was a nice kid, and I knew he was so homesick and felt out of place in that ridiculous place. I didn't think I could talk to him, I wasn't comfortable showing the display of emotions and stuff.
Weird, I felt more relaxed that morning.
I took a long breath, even the saltiness in the air didn't bother me much. It could be due to the release of all the sexual frustration last night which was bundled inside for weeks.
I wasn't sure how long I sat there until I heard footsteps behind my back. It was Justin, I knew he would come looking for me.
He was standing behind me with that deep blue eyes and goofy smile of his.
"Hey bro, wanna go to the stream?" He asked me.
'See, I told ya,' I nodded my head and got up. We walked slowly in silence towards the stream.
After our morning routine, we spent a lot of time washing in the waters, it was always cold out there. It felt good, I looked at Justin and smiled.
"Was it weird last night?" He asked me casually.
"Nope" I replied with a bit of hesitation. I didn't want to talk about it any further.
"For me too, bro," he said with his usual goofy smile.
I was hoping he would stop talking about it, so I changed the subject.
"I hope we have a girl among us," I told him trying to establish my masculinity.
"Me too" He replied with the same goofy smile.
"Did you find a soap on the luggage?" He asked me.
Now I remembered it, "Huh, at least half a dozen of them, Can we go and pick it up?" I asked him.
"Shotgun?" Justin challenged me and then we started running named towards the house, our dicks and balls flapping left and right like crazy.
When we reached the house, Sakthi was still sleeping, his legs and arms were over Jai as if he will crush him to death. The poor tiny little boy.
Justin glanced at me and we laughed out loud, Jai was about to wake up due to the sound we made. We quickly took the soap and ran back to the waters once again.
"Did you miss your parents when you were in Dubai?" Justin asked me.
"Not much, my aunt was there, she is a great woman and loved me like her son," I told him.
"Where you born in Dubai? You don't look and behave like the other Arab guys I have seen" Justin asked me.
"I am a mixed Middle Eastern guy. My father is an Arab and my mom is Persian. We lived in Damascus, Syria and my parents were killed in a car bomb blast. My aunt brought me back to Dubai and adopted me" I told him my long story.
"Your aunt has kids?" He raised his eyebrows and asked me.
"Yes, two sons and a daughter. Her sons are not very fond of me" I replied to him with a chuckle and remembered the fights I had with her sons.
They hated me, jealous of my looks and popularity in school. But My aunt ensured that they do not harm me.
Ever since the snake situation, Justin stayed close to me making sure I wasn't scared of the forest. He gave me an entire encyclopedia of snakes, I finally realized it was just another reptile. We climbed the big rock and jogged on the beach often. In the last couple of weeks, a deep brotherhood was forming between Justin and me.
Back home, I never really had any close friends like the special bond I formed with him. He was funny and crazy at times though sometimes he weirded me out with his geeky biological knowledge. But the rest of the time, he was just a chill and easy going guy. We shared each other background stories. He told me about his pretty girlfriend back in Dubai and how they fucked like bunnies often. He taught me a few French words especially profanities. I told him about my social media obsession, my outfits, and funny Vlog videos.
One drunken night fun surely wasn't going to weird out things between us.
Back to our spot, Sakthi was boiling water for his morning tea as usual. We still had lit the fire and cook outside since we didn't find any solution to do it inside the house.
Jai was packing the luggage, we helped him carry it inside.
"What are we going to eat today?" I asked Sakthi.
Muscle man grinned at me, white teeth on his dark-skinned face shined like a toothpaste advertisement.
"Today is your turn guys, Jai and I are going to finish the front door and windows first," Sakthi said to us.
"Can we make Kabsa?" I asked Justin excitedly.
"We ran out of meat already, where do we get the lamb?" He asked me.
"Do you think we can catch that Junglefowl bird thing, it would be fun?" I asked him.
"Why not?" He said it immediately with his mischievous grin.
We picked a couple of plastic bags and our bamboo sticks and walked into the forest.
We decided if we catch them all and domesticate them, they could supply us eggs and meat. I recalled what Justin told me earlier, he said hens originated from Junglefowls and humans later brought them to different continents for breeding.
On the way to find the birds in the forest, Justin was talking to me about his suspicions of that island.
"I still have no idea how these birds came to this island," Justin said.
"You said that earlier right, that humans brought them" I replied to him.
"Yes I said that, but where are the humans? What happened to them? I didn't find any human skeletons or remains here yet" Justin said with his geeky tone which I disliked a bit.
"Maybe, when the volcano exploded, they shifted to another island?" I asked him.
"Well then, how come these birds and vegetations survived the eruption?" He asked me as if I knew the answers.
"Dude, I didn't even know the name of those birds until you told me. You are asking me all these scientific questions" I replied to him with a laugh.
Justin stopped walking and stared at my face for a second.
"You could be a girl, you know. You got that pretty face" He said with a chuckle.
"Shut the fuck up," I said, he got me mad a little bit. It didn't last long.
With that, he started laughing and I had to hit his shoulder to stop him.
"I don't think the volcano killed the people here. It must be something else" He said it all of a sudden.
Some mysterious ways humans were killed on that island. The thought provoked slight fear in me.
"What made you say that?" I asked him.
"Look, those sediments we saw were too old. The Volcano eruption didn't happen in recent times. The ice on top of the mountains is another proof that the volcano is dead long back, but" He stopped for a few seconds as if trying to analyze more information.
"But?" I asked him out of anxiety.
"But the Junglefowls and plants here seem to be a recent phenomenon. Maybe they came here a few centuries earlier with the humans" He told me.
"Then what happened to the humans? Why did they leave?" I asked him again.
"I don't know yet, but I will find out" He replied to me.
We started walking again deep into the forest looking for the birds.
But spotting the birds again wasn't easy. We roamed around the same spot where we saw them last time. After three hours of crazy search, I was about to give up and return to the house. All of a sudden, Justin came up with that brilliant idea to follow their tracks, they were every where covering at least 2 square miles. When the blazing sun was right above our head, we saw a couple of new tracks leading us to an area we haven't looked before. I saw him, with his long tail quacking at the approaching danger, I plunged into it, it flew and sat on a plant that looked like a lemon tree, I used my bamboo stick to move it away from the tree. It flew again to the ground and that time I caught it, it tried to bite me, but I wasn't letting it go. Justin came running towards me with the bags like a mad guy. I threw the bird into one of the bags. Done and dusted, I felt proud of myself. Justin high-fived me with his goofy grin.
"Kasba is ready," I told him excitedly.
"No, we need the rest of them too" Justin wasn't giving up easily. I know the guy, he could be tough if needed.
So we followed a few more tracks and caught another five of them in our bags.
We returned to the house with our trophies.
I could tell Sakthi and Jai were excited when they saw the birds. Every single thing we did on that island was a discovery for us. Without the technology and sophistication of urban life, we were able to survive there for weeks and found resources that sustained our lives in it.
They both left their carpeting work in the middle and joined us in our meal preparation. Kabsa was my favorite Ramadan meal, I knew how to cook it. And we had most of the ingredients already, thanks to the food container and luggage.
While Jai and I were busy preparing the meal. Sakthi and Justin a built small wooden cage to keep the rest of the birds. There were four females and two males as per Justin's knowledge. I just took one male and prepared it for cooking. Once I chopped the bird into pieces after cleaning it, I put the water and boiled it in a pot. I poured some coconut oil on another clay vessel to fry the spices, vegetables, and chicken, once fried, I added that mix into the boiling rice and let it steam.
By the time, I finished cooking, the cage was ready for the birds too.
Guys were starving for food and I served it on their leaf plates and poured little Mayonnaise like gravy.
"Wow, this stuff is awesome" Jai appreciated my cooking.
The rest of them liked it too. We planned to make it once in a while.
"We just have two more rice packets, what shall we do?" Jai was worried since he takes care of inventory.
"We can cultivate brown rice, it is not processed rice," Justin told us.
"How long will it take to grow?" Sakthi asked him
"It will take a minimum of three or four months," Justin told us.
For a few seconds, we were silent. The realization of staying on that island longer and we might never return to the real world hit us straight into our hearts.
"But I can find a way to make it grow faster, we call it Gibberrillin Signalling" Justin interrupted our thoughts confidently in his geeky tone.
"Then let's put that into motion tomorrow morning," Sakthi said without any second thoughts.
He was our default head of the family due to his age and maturity and we agreed with him on most terms.
Later that day, we worked together to complete our front door and windows. We just needed a storage shelf and kitchen work. That was for another day.
Jai announced that he was going to extract coconut oil the next day.
We decided to skip leftover wine drinking that night. We were too tired and sleepy.
Dark consumed the house when the light went off.
On the loft, I was lying in between Justin and Jai as usual. For some unknown reason, I couldn't sleep.
I felt Justin's breath when he moved closer to me. He brought his hand on my lower stomach looking for a direction.
I knew what he was trying to do. It was not the first time that another guy trying to make sexual advances with me. I was a good looking boy and young. Once, an elderly relative grabbed my dick and tried to kiss me the night after a wedding ceremony of my cousin. I was just eleven then. I pushed him away and ran off from that place. Last year, while I was pissing at a restroom in Burj Khalifa mall, a guy next to me was showing his dick and jerking it off inviting me to join him. I spat on his face and ran away again. I received many friend invites from gay guys on my Instagram and Facebook. Few of them even sent dirty pictures to me of their ugly dicks and asses. It was nauseating.
But I didn't feel the same way with Justin on that island. He was a friend and it was just fun. And I was horny like a bitch.
His hand was warm when it reached my navel region. I hardly had any hair down there.
I didn't move. I just lied there like a sign of approval with my heart beating faster. That was a new kind of sensation to me.
I had no idea why I was aroused with an erection then. I already formed a tent on my trouser which helped easier for him to locate my throbbing dick.
I took a couple of long breaths to control my erection. But it was too late. He already inserted his hand inside my trousers and grabbed my cock.
The damn thing was waiting for the attention. It grew even bigger and I lost complete control over it. I gave up letting him jerking me off. The warmth of his created new pleasure. My dick was so used to my own boring hands, it was excited by it. He fastened the pace jerking himself off with his other hand. I even felt his dick touching my thighs at times. My mind screamed inside to stop all of that and pull his hands away. But I didn't.
He even reached my hand and pulled it towards his dick asking me to do the same for him. I didn't know what to do, I never touched another guy. His hand motion on my dick was giving me sensations that I never felt before. I grabbed his dick to just finish him off so that he would let me go.
His was hard as a stick and I was just gripping it not knowing what else to do. He pushed his pelvis towards me and thrust his dick even further into my hand.
I couldn't take it any longer. I came in his hands. He came too and I felt my hand was wet due to it. I removed my hand immediately trying to understand what just happened then.
Justin reached out to a cloth which he kept ready next to him and gave it to me. We both cleaned our hands and dicks.
There were more unexplored surprises for me the next day and thereafter. I never thought I would explore sex with another guy in a way I would never have done it back home.
