As I am posting my first Story, I am very interested in the response. I have been getting a lot of Reactions, plus Comments on every chapter, but I am a bit alarmed at the number of Views. There were more than 2,000 views of Chapter 1, but the number has been decreasing steadily with each additional chapter, and most recently added up to only 351. Is that to be expected? I theorize that readers might be curious and therefore take a look at Chapter 1, but not want to read further -- I confess that I've done that myself -- or, much worse, losing interest in the story. So, (1) Is this normal, and I shouldn't pay much attention to it? (2) Is there anything I should be doing to hold on to readers once they've started reading? I also don't know what to make of Followers (34 of them). I get the definition, but should I be reaching out to them and encouraging them in some way? When I have published books for sale, of course, I never knew any of this about readers, so the flood of information here is interesting but also concerning. Which stats should I care about, if any???

I have finished my first novel - I'll Kiss You in the Rain. https://www.gayauthors.org/story/william-king/I39llKissYouintheRain I'll Kiss You in the Rain is a moment in the lives of three young people. Alex, the principal character who narrates the story is a gay teenager who hides his real self until he discovers his best friend is gay. An unexpected encounter with Jake, who is older and more experienced, leads Alex on a voyage of self discovery. No one is perfect, not even the angelic Matty, Alex's best friend, they all have their secrets and it's never going to be easy. If you would like to discuss, comment, ask the author something, then I'm here and listening. If you liked it, hated it, thought something was badly done or well done, maybe you didn't want to say it in a review, well you can say it here. Look forward to hearing from you. William

This thread is dedicated to bringing you news about my writing, discussing stuff, and anything you want to say here rather than in story comments, about my books. You know, the things like: that didn't seem real, hated that bit, how did you/could you write that, what next? I typed in WKW as a snappy title, the spell check kept changing it to WOW! That's okay I guess, I don't have any problems with WOW! Anyway, I would love to interact with anyone who wants to, and if not, that's fine too. I will be checking back here from time to time to let you know what's going on. So what is going on? I was very fortunate to find a great editor for Refugee, and now that we have almost completed the re-edit, I am starting to publish it. The book appears as a new story, for the publicity, well perhaps. But, it was always intended as one single book, in four parts, which is really why it is getting published a fresh. Rompecabezas I wrote way back in 2016. I say, way back, because I've learnt a whole lot about how to write since then. Which has prompted me to edit and proof read the book. This is so I don't cringe at the errors I made back then. I still make mistakes, but hopefully less with the practice I've had. The book gets published with the new edition over the old, so you need to follow the story if you want up dates, it won't appear as a new book. That's all for now good people, happy reading.

All authors have a list of stories, which can be accessed by clicking the Stories tab on their profile, or for their own list by hitting the blue My stories button. Here's mine as an example https://www.gayauthors.org/author/timothy-m/ At the top of the list there is a header showing how many stories they have written, how many comments and words those stories have. Except the header says Reviews, not comments, which I never noticed until now. Would it be possible to have both number of story / chapter comments and number of story reviews shown ? It's not urgent of course, and sorry if I missed an earlier topic on this.

I don't know if this is a real bug, or perhaps something which will be fixed with the next update, but I simply have to ask this curious question. In my activity stream on my profile I can see two comments which I recently left on Val's White Elephant Gift story, and one comment for each of chapter 18 of Graeme's Leopards Leap and chapter 48 of Leopard Spots stories. On my profile it looks like the first comment on Val's story had two normal likes and the second got six likes, but in actual fact the second comment got two LOL likes, not six. For the comment on Graeme's Leopards Leap chapter he gave me a LOL like, but in my profile it looks like it has three of them. (same for chapter 5 in Leopard Skin Cover, btw) For the comment on Graeme's Leopards Spots chapter he and mogwhy gave me a like each, but on my profile it looks like the comment has four of the heart likes, Two of the Graeme comments were my second comment on those chapters (yeah, I've been binge-reading the Lilydale Leopards over Christmas), but one of them (Leopard Skin Cover) was my first comment on chapter 5. I know it's not something really important, and I certainly never noticed this discrepancy before, but is there a technical explanation or is it a glitch ? No rush on the answer, enjoy your holidays. Happy New Year. I'm on Google Chrome on a laptop.

Hello Staff! @Myr I think found another accessibility bug. If I copy and paste in a comment field. I can't edit if mistake, unless I leave field and go back. I if I try to edit without leaving, it copy and pastes multiple times. Never used to do that. Refresher its iOS running 10.3.3 in Safari. There is work-around for now!

Hi all. This is the first of many projects. As we all know, the Roll the Dice anthology was published last week. This project involves our editing/beta team and this challenge is to write a 200 word review (or more, but not less than 200) for each story in the anthology. Several catches here folks. We may not use the following words: like, love, hate, bad, good. You may post the review as soon as you have finished it. You may not write a review for a story you edited/ or helped to develop as a beta. Provide honest feedback. If there is something you find compelling, make note of it. Be equally mindful of pointing out flaws, though be sure to remain constructive. A review does not have to be all flattery, but you should support your criticisms. If you have posted a comment already, thank you, (this project is a little late), you may ignore this project. Or you might like to add to the comment. Hugs and kindness

Hi, I have just started posting my first story on this site and am looking for people to comment and give suggestions on what they want to see. I have always enjoyed telling stories to my friends and family, but have only recently decided to start putting my work out here for people to see. Please read my story by following the link below and I look forward to hearing from everyone. :-) Story: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/cazpedroso/chapmistresview-andrewandjamie

When we edit posts in the forums, there is a box saying Reason for edit. Sometimes people write the most hilarious reasons which have us It's a great feature. The same box shows up when you edit status updates, comments on chapters, and comments on blogs, but when you save the edited comment, the text written in the Reason for edit box isn't visible. Probably the same applies to story comments and story reviews, but I haven't tried those. A recent example: I edited my comment in chapter 18 of Cia's Harbinger story. In the Reason for edit box I wrote Changed the number of sisters. It's not visible in the comment, but you can see the comment has been edited. It's not a big issue, I simply wondered if there was an explanation for this difference. If the reason to edit isn't meant to be shown in comments, why does the box appear as an option?

So, this is my little thread to announce my story, Bovian Image. A story that follows a young man, whose name is SarEr Nan, as he tries to survive a life plagued by threats and dangerous situations. Those he cares about are threatened and he is forced into a life of hiding. He can only trust his bestfriend, Zun, as they live from city to city changing names and escaping a man who is hell bent on making SarEr's life hell. Finally, living in Tokyo under the name Savan Bovian, SarEr meets a man he can't ignore. One who forces him to open up despite the dangers of allowing strangers in. https://www.gayauthors.org/story/lilansui/bovianimage/1 :)Well, I'm still working on that teaser. Read it, review or comment, on this thread or on the story chapters. I would love to hear your opinions!. Also, if you'd like me to read your story as well, write me a comment here, and I'll check it out.
