You’ve had a wonderful night out with friends. While going from the restaurant to a movie, the group passes a shop promising to tell your fortunes. One of your friends drags the group in. When the gypsy teller gets to you, she stops and the color drains from her face. When you ask what is wrong, she states she knows you are cursed. What is it you are cursed with?

This week I've decided to share JohnAR's prompt response to prompt 458, Enjoy!

 

“What’s this?” Colt asked CE, who handed him an envelope. They sat in front of the fireplace enjoying the warm flames and cake. Slowly but steadily Colt was recovering from his coma, but one side effect was that he needed even more warmth than normally not to freeze – and even more food.

 

The big guy’s voice broke: “A letter from Al. We found it amongst his things when …”

 

“A good-bye note?” Colt clarified with dread. He put the plate on the floor, making sure the fork didn’t fall off it.

 

CE had become a serious feeder – and today was Black Forest Cake day with lots of cherries.

 

CE swallowed, nodding. He then hugged the smaller man tightly, allowing Colt to wipe his nose on the red polo shirt, before he got up. “See you for dinner,” he whispered, suppressing tears. He left with his half-finished plate. It was rare CE didn’t devour his sweets within seconds. A sign something was off.
