Writing Prompts #292 & #293

Another Friday is here and you all know what that means - yes, new prompts.

Prompt 292 – Creative
Tag – The Horoscope
You never put any trust in the horoscopes, but today when you got to work your co-worker walked over and nearly shoved the paper in your face asking you to read it. When you looked up your horoscope it was as if someone had filmed your morning so far and what you read for your afternoon completely floored you. What was your horoscope and did it come true?

Prompt 293 – Creative
Tag – List of Words
Use the following in a story – museum, newspaper, crown, torn pants, and a cookie.

Last week I had one person say they were going to do a story, but there was only one response. So, I am using it.

The Picnic

It was the lazy sort of day you dream about for weeks. I mean usually everyone is so busy trying to get things done, but every once in a blue moon you strike it rich and get just what you want. For me it was a day down by the water with friends.
“Oh Lord! You invited them all? Are you crazy Wayne?”
I laughed as seen the look Joann was giving me. I mean how many crazy adventures had see been on and she had the nerve to ask me if I was the one going crazy?
“Would you relax? Everyone is coming and bringing a dish. How much trouble can there be?”
“You invited KC?” Her eyebrow arched and she shook her head.
“He is a bit clumsy, but hey, he will have Robert at his side and you know he watches over him like a hawk.” I smiled and passed her a beer. “Besides you know Cassie is coming to so you have no reason not enjoy yourself. You two are thicker than thieves.”
Joann’s laughter filled my kitchen and she sat down to finish making up the salad she planned to bring. I turned back and went to work on the bagging up plates and things I was bringing with me.
“You know everyone is bringing stuff don’t you?”
I heard Russ’ voice through the back door as turned around.
“Yeah, but inevitably someone forgets something. I would rather be prepared.”
“No doubt you were a boy scout at one time.” Russ smiled as he leaned against the counter. Joann got up and passed him a beer.
“You have to ask?”
Both of them began to laugh.
By the time I was ready to leave I had four chests of food and supplies ready to go. I was glad Russ showed up because I realized this would never have fit in my car, and Joann’s truck still had new plants she had bought for her home in the back.
It was shortly after eleven that we pulled up to the park. There were people wandering around enjoying the warm temperatures and the cool breeze blowing through the trees. I’d booked the picnic area earlier in the week but getting everyone’s schedule cleared took a bit of work.

Yup, I choose my own work. I took a page out of Joann's writing, but didn't make KC the poor man taking the blame. Hopefully next week someone else will write up a story so I have something else to pick on.

So till next time, remember to read, write, and review. Enjoy.

- Wayne
