Get a cat, join a gym, go bicycling, go hiking, look at the stars, find a cool rock, grow a garden, read a book, watch a game, take a class, take your camera to the woods, walk your dog, build a deck, change your oil, feed the cat, climb a big hill, barbecue, go swimming, eat out or take a nap.

 

Life is what you make of it.

Most drugs probably won't make you go out and kill somebody, but they'll make you complacent at times when you could do something more productive.

 

Sometimes, it isn't about being happy. It's about making your time on this planet worthwhile.

Discovered recently that the prescription I take to stop migraines can, in VERY large doses, cause memory loses and compliant suggestibility. It's why one of the side effects is vivid dreaming. I have a new and healthy respect for my meds now.

 

James, I like your list. I would add:

ride your horse

write a book

hang out in a truck

Irritable1- major depression is a very different matter.

 

The difference is that one is an attitude. You can change that if you want to.

 

The other is an illness and you do need help with that.

 

I've got no issues with that.

Drugs aren't.cures for everything, sometimes they are merely crutches to live a semi normal life. 
 
It is a tragedy, but life itself is a drug too. Thrill seeking, excessive eating/drinking, and who knows what else are just as deadly.
