However you've decided to finish the story, I know it's going to be great.

The cliffhanger at the end of 35 I will admit shocked me, I totally wasn't expecting it. But thats one of the many things I love about your writing, I don't ever know what's around the corner. I think that helps to make your stories more real. Too many Net authors follow what i like to call a little story recipie card, add all the ingredents mix it up a little, and bam! Youve got your story.

However, I can agree with the enemie's last statement wholeheartedly. We are begging!!

I think one sentence (by Dom) says it all:

"Because I needed to finish the story, my way."

It is, after all, his story.

As for the cliffhanger: Was it evil? IMHO, yes! And that's part of what made it such an outstanding chapter!

I think this is my favorite chapter, of all Dom's stories.

One final thought: If Dom wanted to be truly evil, he could make chapter 36 short. Very short. Just two words: "THE END". So, we better be nice to him!

I, for one, love your cliffhangers. I know I sound like I'm sucking up, but it's true! It makes people want to pounce like a cheetah when an update goes up. It's too bad DD has to end, but good too (it's like that show Charm; a drawn own story loses all appeal) and I'm actually really getting into With Trust. So do what you need to do, I trust you to always do the best job.

I think that the thing I said could have been interpreted that way, if the person stopped after I said that the phone call could have stood by itself as a good ending: but then I did go on to say that I wasn't saying that it should have. Because -- as I say at intervals, and haven't said for a while -- Dom, I completely trust your sense of story by this time.

The message boards are the playground of your fans. It's not the best place for you to interact with your readers. I'd suggest staying out of them except I know if I were in your position I wouldn't be able to resist poking my nose in now and then.

I've seen a few really excellent web authors freak out and vanish due to the attention of their fans. I read your post, Dom, and I have to say that I'm so impressed by how you handle this pressure. You seem to deflect it, or let it encourage or motivate you, and not let it discourage you.

Yea I gotta agree there. The forums are not an authorfriendly place sometimes. It's a big playground with landmines and mudpits and tanks and assault rifles and hand grenades.

However, I get a lot of email, and that can be like a miniature version of the forum.

That amazes me. It wouldn't occur to me to bother you with personal email. I don't reply to the blogs that much, even. If I have something to say about the stories, I post that in the story forum. We Domaholics need to commiserate with one another. I wouldn't want to influence your stories or want other readers to, except perhaps that if any of our suggestions and criticisms have any validity, they can be taken to heart in your future writings. We can lobby for sequels and such, and that's OK, too. And then you can use your own judgment and your own muse to decide. We fans can request things, but mostly we just want more chapters until something is done, and then we want more stories. Badgering you with email seems really counterproductive to that.

I knew I didn't need to threaten you after Chapter 35. If you had killed off Eddie, Luke and his wrestling buddies would have come after you. I figured you realized that. It's just if you did it, I didn't want to read it, and asked for folks in the forum to warn me not to read Chapter 36.

You should be flattered to know that your writing makes us care so much for your characters, even ones that annoy us, like Quinn and Rory. It is regrettable that it makes us all a little nuts, and apparently some of us a lot nuts.
