July CSR Feature: Carter's Army by Topher Lydon

As a welcome back to GA, and since many of our newer members might not know this Classic Author, this month I thought I'd feature Topher Lydon's start to his Carter's Saga series. Check out this short novel and come back to share your thoughts on the Discussion day when I share my interview with Topher!

Carter's Army

by @Topher Lydon

Length: 60,266

Description: A young immigrant to Canada discovers that love can be found in the most unlikely places. Andrew isn’t the run of the mill team Captain, can he show Will what it means to be in love? And can he coax the awkward, non-social boy out of the closet? Events spiral out of control after stolen kisses are caught, and gossip begins to spiral out of control.

A Reader Said: I read this story quite awhile ago before I joined and I remember enjoying it greatly. All of the main/supporting characters is Will's circle are so true and it's easy to swoon and empathize with all of them. Even Will's father is true and not some stereotype of a "bad father".

Honest and concise and completely engrossing. I look forward to rereading the rest off the saga. ~Miles Long

Come back on the last Monday of the month, July 28th, to check out the Discussion day and share your thoughts!

I loved this book when I read it pre joining GA.  I have just re-read it and it stands the test of time.   I love the characters, especially Andrew’s mother.  Church groups need more like her to cut through the pious crap.

thank you Cia for recommending this story d well done Topher.

Excellent suggestion, hope more people take a moment to read it for the first time or again.

I'm not saying I have the powers of premonition or anything but I had a feeling this particular series was going to come up somehow, somewhere.  It's just something that clicked when I saw the other posts about Topher's return.

Good job on that Cia.

I'm going to have to re-read this again, it's been a while. Welcome back Topher!

Are you saying I'm predictable? 😆 I do like to mix up the features, but having 2 Classic authors come back to us is something noteworthy! I love featuring content that readers might not see with our newer authors posting more often, though I try not to neglect them as well. Carter's Army was definitely a popular series back in the day so it's a great feature to bring back to readers. I hope some newer members will enjoy it!

I trust all of @Cia's CSR features, and this story does not disappoint. Well worth the read. I even fell for a fictional, straight man in the process. 😂

You are far from predictable lmao. Those tarot cards in my head just shuffled the right way for once.

Yes 2 Classic authors coming back to the roost is friggen amazing, and I'm glad that they are back.  I spend a lot of time reading the old stuff purposefully and we've got so much content that needs to be brought back to the surface that the newer members I'm absolutely sure would enjoy.  And that does include Carter's Army which I'm bumping to the top of my reread list. lol

I knew I wouldn't be this late in the game considering there are several more stories in this series. I'll eventually catch up.

That's actually pretty cool Topher.  I'm in the process of starting over from scratch in reading the series again, and it's been a long time since I've done so, I can't wait to see what you come up with once I make it that far.

Many thanks to Cia, my spirit guide through the wonderfully new way of publishing stuff on here. The first chapter is up, first new thing I have published/written/worked on in a long while. I will admit to nerves.

Well, if  I may say so as a newer, but keen reader here, I’m thoroughly enjoying the Carter series. Great news for your fans that new material is arriving!   I’m on vol 3 of the series and totally hooked.  Thank you, @Topher Lydon
