Gaming online and Gay-bashers

As some people know, I enjoy gaming when I get the time. While I'm not head-over-heels in love with FPS's, I do have Halo3, and a few similar games. Gay Gaymer (For boys who like boys who like joysticks), has a little video showing how bad it can get for gay guys online.

(Part of it, was the purposefully named "gayboy" gamer tag. Still, it is rather shocking... I bet even for a sailor. I'll ask Dan. ;) )

When I'm xbox live, I have occasionally reported people that were being abusive, but I've never really run into anything as bad as this video.

That Halo 3 vid seems to be a little overdone. But what I replied to say is that one cannot really expect a group of adrenalized teens to be nonabusive and tolerant. Most of the language used is to a) provoke anger, and B) demoralize or stun players unused to it. Besides, we don't know the whole story behind the names of the Halo 3 vid; had the abused gamer provoked it with previous actions? I cannot say it is a total atrocity without knowing more about the circumstances. Games like Halo 3 come with the risks of all socially interactive activities, and most gamers know what the environment is like going in. Would the game be nearly as enjoyable without the trash-talk? Or would it reek of the same boredom single-player mode has?Tolerance has its virtues, but on-line games whose audience is mainly the male 12-35 range cannot be fully expected to be virtuous venues, especially given the content of games in the FPS genre. That's my take on it, anyway.

Yet I do trash talk but I go after other things, we got to get another word for str8 people besides breeders.

I do wonder if it's done one these stories so they would lose or just to piss em off.

Course some people have to be douches on these sites. it's nice that some of these sites are for gay guys and girls. so they can be them selves with out that those macho douches.

There's definitely a boundary people should not cross regardless of being young and on adrenalin or not. Aside from that: Anyone can trash talk--but it doesn't mean anything. Taunting, on the other hand, is an art. And you certainly don't need epithets or cussing to really get under someone's skin. As long as you keep winning... -_- mwahaha

Half the fun is listening to these whiny little teens swearing and using epithets and then giggling quietly in the background with their little blue-balled friends. If it bothers you, there's always mute. They're not even worth the trouble to insult properly. They do that fine all by themselves. Ignore the attention whores, and like good little doggies, they'll shut up or leave.

My trash talk isn't ever broadcast, as I never have the mic on. Good thing too. I'm usually trashing myself "How could I be so f**King stupid?"

thing like that.
