"Left turn yield on green". Instead it says protected. I've figured out that it means you CANNOT make a turn unless there is a green arrow.

Doesn't that mean you have a protected left turn with the left turn arrow, but can also make a left turn on a green light if there is no oncoming traffic? That would be different from "Left turn on arrow only". I know...ask a policeman what it means.

Protected means you have to wear a condom when turning left. It's a Texas thing. Whenever someone veers "left", they need to get extra protection so they're not vulnerable to the wiles of those promiscuous liberals. Again, just a theory.
