Strangersagain Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 If you had to pick one song that described you the best what would it be? Personaly I feel Behind Blue Eyes, is my personal theme. By The Who, "No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes No one knows what it's like To be hated To be fated To telling only lies But my dreams They aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free No one knows what it's like To feel these feelings Like I do And I blame you No one bites back as hard On their anger None of my pain and woe Can show through But my dreams They aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free When my fist clenches, crack it open Before I use it and lose my cool When I smile, tell me some bad news Before I laugh and act like a fool If I swallow anything evil Put your finger down my throat If I shiver, please give me a blanket Keep me warm, let me wear your coat No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes" I have a few guesses for instance for Comicality Id say "We Only Come Out at Night" by The Smashing Pumpkins, or perhaps or "Tonight, Tonight" by the same band, wich is wierd because AFAIK he might not like The Smashing Pumpkins. So whats yours? P.S. who knew Fred Dersch could sing, his version of Behind Blue Eyes, shows he can. Go figgure. And Strangers, my original name came from a song, ten points to the person who guesses the band, and significance.
ethan thorn Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 (edited) For now i would have to say at the end by L'ame immortelle. Trodden paths they seem outdated Too many reasons I have stated The path divides, I have to decide A new life, a new way to stride Hollow eyes are watching me Tell me which way to go do not believe the fading footsteps In this winter's snow Hear the thunders coming down Dreams of forbidden lands where I do drown Here at the hilltop proud I stand A new beginning at the end Trees that have seen many ages I hear them speak to me Moving forward, hide away The consequence is hard to see Reflecting 'bout what might be A life of lust and restlessness Or full of love, and warm retreat The goods I currently possess Hear the thunders coming down Dreams of forbidden lands where I do drown Here at the hilltop proud I stand A new beginning at the end. I feel it fits where i stand right now in leading the life i want and the one i have to in order to have a home. Edited December 12, 2004 by ethan thorn
Ibsu Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Ethan: I wish that Rhapsody had that song - looks like a good one! As for me, maybe Absolutely Bill's Modd from TMBG? I was born in a lighthouse, my mother was the sea I crawled to school each morning, when it occured to me That life's just a mood ring we're not allowed to see And this is what it said to me My room is comfortably small With rubber lining the walls And there's someone always calling my name He calls when I'm alone And he calls when I'm not home And he calls when I'm stuck out in the rain I'm insane I'm insane I'm insane I'm insane Now listen all you swingers, don't you try to tag along I know monkey see, but monkey's dead, for you it would be wrong Put a dime in my jukebox, you'll only hear this song And it won't be fun for long Because my room is comfortably small With rubber lining the walls And there's someone always calling my name He calls when I'm alone And he calls when I'm not home And he calls when I'm stuck out in the rain I'm insane I'm insane I'm insane I'm insane Thank you Thank you My room is comfortably small With rubber lining the walls And there's someone always calling my name He calls when I'm alone And he calls when I'm not home And he calls when I'm stuck out in the rain I'm insane I'm insane I'm insane I'm insane
miguelsanchez55 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I think the song that say's it best for Rainbow and myself is How Deep is your Love by the Bee Gees. Mike Sanchez :sword: How Deep is Your Love (Bee Gees) I know your eyes in the morning sun I feel you touch me in the pouring rain And the moment that you wander far from me I wanna feel you in my arms again And you come to me on a summer breeze Keep me warm in your love and then softly leave And it's me you need to show .... How deep is your love? (how deep is your love?) I really need to learn 'Cause we're living in a world of fools Breaking us down When they all should let us be We belong to you and me I believe in you You know the door to my very soul You're the light in my deepest darkest hour You're my saviour when I fall And you may not think I care for you When you know down inside That I really do And it's me you need to show .... How deep is your love? (how deep is your love?) I really need to learn 'Cause we're living in a world of fools Breaking us down When they all should let us be We belong to you and me How deep is your love? (how deep is your love?) I really need to learn 'Cause we're living in a world of fools Breaking us down When they all should let us be We belong to you and me How deep is your love? (how deep is your love?) ......
Crackerwriter Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 From time to time we all have doubts I guess, and this one comes to mind. It's by Greg Lake of ELP from the album WORKS Volume 1 C
Ibsu Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Augh - you have now introduced me to Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Did I really need to know there was a progressive rock version of Pictures at an Exhibition? Okay, maybe I did. Now I'm going to have to listen through their catalog, and I'm blaming you.
miguelsanchez55 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Good song Cracker. BTW, I happen to love ELP. Remember the song Lucky Man? Mike Sanchez :sword:
Umbathri Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 another old post dug up from the grave I love behind blue eyes, at least the LIMP version.. Im ashamed to admit Ive never heard the who version... A lot of old rock just doesnt speak to me as well. this encompasses a lot of me, too bad the toadies were a one hit wonder band. at least IMO. Possum Kingdom Make up your mind Decide to walk with me Around the lake tonight Around the lake tonight By my side By my side I'm not gonna lie I'll not be a gentleman Behind the boathouse I'll show you my dark secret I'm not gonna lie I want you for mine My blushing bride My lover, be my lover, yeah... Don't be afraid I didn't mean to scare you So help me, Jesus I can promise you You'll stay as beautiful With dark hair And soft skin...forever Forever Make up your mind Make up your mind And I'll promise you I will treat you well My sweet angel So help me, Jesus (hey, hey, hey) Give it up to me Give it up to me Do you wanna be My angel? So help me! Be my angel Be my angel Do you wanna die? Do you wanna die? Do you wanna die? DO YOU WANNA DIE!? DO YOU WANNA DIE!? I promise you I will treat you well My sweet angel So help me, Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus... ~Umbathri the mask of metal can be heavy
GREEN Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 This Is My December By Linkin Park Helped me through a rough time in my life. The song just got to me on a personal Level and I would listen to it whenever I felt Like I needed it. Here are the lyrics. This is my December This is my time of the year This is my December This is all so clear This is my December This is my snow covered home This is my December This is me alone And I, Just wish that I didn't feel Like there was something I missed And I, Take back all the things I said To make you feel like that And I, Just wish that I didn't feel Like there was something I missed And I, Take back all the things that I said to you And I'd give it all away Just to have somewhere to go to Give it all away To have someone to come home to This is my December These are my snow covered trees This is me pretending This is all I need And I, Just wish that I didn't feel Like there was something I missed And I, Take back all the things I said To make you feel like that And I, Just wish that I didn't feel Like there was something I missed And I, Take back all the things that I said to you And I'd give it all away Just to have somewhere to go to Give it all away To have someone to come home to This is my December This is my time of the year This is my December This is all so clear Give it all away Just to have somewhere to go to Give it all away To have someone to come home to Give it all away Just to have somewhere to go to Give it all away To have someone to come home to
Crackerwriter Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I've thought of a far more accurate one this morning I think, since I'm having a bad day! It's "This 'Ole House" by Rosemary Clooney (Probably George Clooney's grandmother cosidering the age of it). I can hear all the under 50's muttering "wtf" , but it's there on Bearshare if you're interested. Yeah it is an oldie; so am I ! I was experimenting to see just how old some of the recordings go on Bearshare. I even found one download of Les Paul's 'Little Rock Getaway' for heavens sake. That was something one elderly relation use to have on an old 78RPM shellac job! Who else is old enough to remember 78's? - Probably those who would have heard of Rosemary Clooney!
ethan thorn Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I remember vinal but then again i am a big music buff and have and will listen to it in any form i can get it i think my old school had some 78's that is if stop in the name of love was on a 78.
Site Administrator Myr Posted February 8, 2005 Site Administrator Posted February 8, 2005 Rosemary Clooney was George's Aunt. I think my song would be "I Stand Alone" from the Quest for Camelot movie. I Stand Alone (David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager & Steve Perry) I know the sound of each rock and stone I embrace what others fear You are not to roam in this forgotten place Just the likes of me welcome here Everything breathes And I know each breathe More than enough for this man Like every tree stands on it's own Reaching for the sky I stand alone I share my world with no one else All by myself, I Stand Alone Deep in the darkness My heart still sees Everything I'll never need Behind these eyes I go everywhere There's no need for sympathy Everything breathes And I know each breathe In my world there's no compromise Like every tree stands on it's own Oh, reaching for the sky I stand alone I share my world with no one else All by myself Still I will remember Still I run with you, yeah And when it's time for you to go Take me in your heart Like every tree stands on it's own Oh, reaching for the sky I stand alone I share my world with no one else All by myself, I stand Alone All by myself......All by myself I Stand Alone...............
