AFriendlyFace Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Although I have lived in PA, NY and MO, I currently live in the state of confusion, known to most of you as GA. The area hasn't progressed as much socially as I was led to believe, but I do enjoy the weather and find enough activities to keep me busy. Wait, is that "Georgia" or "Gay Authors"? LOL, I think we're progressing socially! And I agree there are plenty of activities to keep us busy -Kevin
Dalmatia Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 Actually, my family is Welsh and I did I tour of the British Isles when I took a semester in London a few years back. When I was in Wales, the weather was beautiful, as was the countryside. Although I have lived in PA, NY and MO, I currently live in the state of confusion, known to most of you as GA. Are you sure you were in Wales???
Site Administrator Graeme Posted September 24, 2007 Site Administrator Posted September 24, 2007 The weather was beautiful!? Are you sure you were in Wales??? I've had nice weather in Wales, too I remember going to a Celtic Water Festival somewhere in South Wales and having a great time. I can't remember exactly where that was without looking up a map, but I can still remember the day, even though it was more than ten years ago.
Dalmatia Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 You two must have been really lucky to both get nice weather, all it does at the moment is rain Where abouts in south wales was that? I was probably there knowing my parents, they go to anything

I was probably there knowing my parents, they go to anything The Tenby Celtic Water Festival in 1996. I had gone for a weekend drive through Wales and ended up in Cardigan. I went to a pub, and the son of the owners had just gotten back from a year in Australia, so we got talking. They invited me to join them the next day when they went to the festival (the son and his friends were competing) -- and then to come back to Cardigan for a BBQ afterwards I got back to where I was living at about 6am on the Monday morning and then headed into work. It was a memorable weekend
Dalmatia Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 Well if it was in Cardigan then I was most likely there as its only half an hour away, though I would have only been six, and as I cant remember what I did on the weekend I'm not going to remember what I did 11 years ago lol

As there were no six-year-olds at the BBQ, I can be pretty sure he wasn't there The people who had invited me were disappointed that I had go before the party was over, but I had to drive back. They suggested I just call in work and say I couldn't make it, but I'd already done that a couple of months early on a trip to Cornwall... As it was, when I got into the car I suddenly remembered that I needed fuel. I managed to find somewhere that was open just outside Shrewsbury (which means I crossed the entire width of Wales without finding a 24 hour petrol station).

Meeko Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Okay Im late as always but blah. So I live in the wonderful Island known as hawaii!!! It's a great place to VIST, but I don't know about living here. I mean yes it is called paradise, but thats only when you come here for a trip. For such a tiny Island, hawaii is over populated big time. Thats pretty much the main reason, overpopulation = expensive living. If it wasn't for my new job, i would be homeless haha it's just so hard to make it in hawaii without a really good job. Already i've had 20 friends move just becuase they couldn't afford it here. But other than that hawaii is really just like any other place >< -Mike
rknapp Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I think I promised this two months ago, but here they are, pictures of Atlantic City at night. This was the night of the Sands implosion, so I have a few pictures of the hotel lit up and two video's of the fireworks show that led up the implosion. I didn't get the actual implosion because my memory cards ran out of space and I totally forgot that my new phone can take video's faster than my old one. The pictures are a bit blurry because the car was moving (they were taken from Rt. 30 as we were heading to the Taj Mahal hotel/casino to park). This last picture is an advertisement for the company who owns the land that the Sands (pictured above) used to sit on. They're planning on building a $1.3 billion megaresort in the place of the Sands. The reason for the huge crowds and the extensive fireworks show is that this is the first implosion in the history of Atlantic City and South Jersey.
rknapp Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 The two videos of the fireworks show. You can hear me complaining about how little space I had. This last picture is of the bonfire that the residents' association held the day before classes started this semester, in between the two dormitory complexes and near the volleyball court (hence a couple topless people).
kashka Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 wow, that must've been quite a view. thanks for sharing the pictutes :] they're really cool
Adrian Michaels Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hmm. I'm from the boring ol' Midwest. Woo Wisconsin. All this talk of Wales is making me jealous. My family is from Wales (And I mean the great great grandfather who came here in the 1890's) I want to go there. And I love rain, so that wouldn't bother me at all. Of course, it's been raining here for like two weeks, so I feel like I'm somewhere Marine West Coast climatey. Yup.
rknapp Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Cool Pics/vids, Robbie Thanks! wow, that must've been quite a view.thanks for sharing the pictutes :] they're really cool We know how to throw a party in Jersey, and we love destruction! LOL I thought about getting pictures of all of the boats and yachts that were anchored just off-shore, watching the show, but my camera would have only captured their running lights. Would have also been blurry since Poseidon seemed to be a bit angry that night... one boat looked like it was capsizing, but that was just the lights playing tricks with my eyes.

Matt Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I'm from Wales too, Cardiff to be more specific, the capitol city... plenty of shops, bars, clubs, nightlife.. don't often use them though i prefer the countryside! I absolutely love it here, the weather has it's ups and downs, as weather does but i'm never bored, I've not spent much time in North Wales, but south and mid Wales are beautiful, the mountains, lakes, scenery. But then i am quite an 'outdoorsy' guy, i like to moutain bike, and we go waterskiing on a Lake in mid wales regularly, so i get to drive and walk and cycle through a lot of the most rural places. True it rains a fair bit, but if you concentrate on the good weather, you forget about the rain I'd love to (and fully intend to) travel to the states, canada, austrailia and all over europe(some more!) but i think i'd miss the UK so much if i moved away, me and my boyfriend are looking for our first house at the moment, and we've decided we want to live ruraloly, but not more than 50miles or so from Cardiff, as all our family live around here, and we'd just be a lot happier living near family and friends, but whether we decide to live in England or Wales (we're quite near the border) it wont matter to us, some parts of England can be just as beautiful if not more than Wales. here's a few photos of Wales i've taken anyway, just cos i love photos! sorry for dragging up an old thread
Hylas Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 that's darn lovely. :S I wanna learn welsh. or any other gaelic language. it sounds so beautiful...
Matt Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I hardly know any welsh, i had welsh lessons in Primary school, but none after the age of about 11... i wish i could speak it, but it's of very little use these days
