Site Administrator Graeme Posted December 12, 2010 Site Administrator Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) Fallen Ilaria by Rilbur Skryler Ilaria fell almost instantly. The shining towers and towering ramparts of her walls proved useless, and the sinews of the great Knights of Ilarus were shattered under the demon's attack. Etral Et Ilaria must live with the consequences of that failure, though he would give so very much to give up the burden. :nuke: :nuke: Spoilers Below!!! :nuke: :nuke: Edited December 12, 2010 by Graeme
Site Administrator Cia Posted December 19, 2010 Site Administrator Posted December 19, 2010 The story of Etral is one that had me in tears. The moment when he realizes that he loses both his love and an unborn child he did not know of was so poignant. A lesser man would have allowed his will to be suborned but Etral stood fast to his duty time and time again. I know he was bound by his oath to Ilarius but something eminently worthy inside of him allowed him to make that in the first place. That entire scene you wrote gave me chills. It was so momentous and solemn; full of pain and yet a moment of completion for Etral. Power is a heavy burden and he has borne his share of the responsibilities. I hope that you will continue with this story at some point and give him some of the rewards for holding true to his faith, his power, and his people.
Rilbur Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Lets just say that I already have plans for walk on the wild side -- something on the verge of turning into a story, when I'm ready to work on it. (With six months to go, there's no rush and plenty of other stories to work on). Legends... Well, do you really think you can have something like the Knights and not have legends crop up around them? Heck, think about how long Etral has been fighting... he's already a living legend. Aftermath... that's going to be the hard one. I know how this story ends, but I'm not sure what I can do with 'aftermath'. We shall see. We shall see...
Kev de Cauchery Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) Wow! This whole piece gives me a very epic-like and legend-ish feeling. So grand! Never was a fan of fantasy but this is wow! Edited to fix the typo shown in Rilbur's post under. Edited December 20, 2010 by Kevin Caucher
Dolores Esteban Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I'm a big LOTR fan. I like that kind of stuff very much. I really loved your story and would like to read on. There's all in it. Power, honor, solemnity, sublimity. "I am a sword. I am a shield. I am a key." The words spoke to me. Great!
Rilbur Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Glad you liked it, and I hope you like where I take it in the future.
Nephylim Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I can't help but agree with what has been said above. A true epic with all the ingredients required to turn it into a legend. Hope, fear, intolerable pain and the chance of redemption. It is sweeping yet contained and it sweeps you along as the river did when it was still clean. Demons coming through a gate is a familiar image for me and I loved the whole thing. You have such a way of creating imposible characters and making them so rounded and real Well done darling, another jewel
