Jwolf Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 So, I'm starting this for my new story, Big Haired Bitches. It's a little humorous look at high school life in the Elite South. I've posted the first chapter here.
methodwriter85 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Wouldn't his status as a star athlete and good looks have guranteed him an immediate in? Girls usually only reserve that kind of bitchiness for other girls, and tend to either leave guys alone or bring them into the fold if they're hot.
Jwolf Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 He's more of the music nerd than the star athlete. That's why his dad encourages him to go out for The Ringtones and whatnot. I agree that girls usually save the bitchiness for each other, but I feel like that story has been done to death. Toss in a gay who's not going to take that shit rolling over, and we'll see how the queen B reacts.
methodwriter85 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Good point. From I understand about Texas in reading Adam Phillip's Cross-Currents, if you're not playing football you might as well be a campy drag queen. Just try and resist the temptation to pair him with the star quarterback when they bump into each other on the quad and the quarterback needs tutoring. God, that's been done.
Conner Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Good point. From I understand about Texas in reading Adam Phillip's Cross-Currents, if you're not playing football you might as well be a campy drag queen. Just try and resist the temptation to pair him with the star quarterback when they bump into each other on the quad and the quarterback needs tutoring. God, that's been done. ....and done, and done, and done. I'm really keen on this story.
Jwolf Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Keen on the story? Awesome blossom. Chapter two is up and available here. Check it out!
methodwriter85 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Alright, I was not seeing that coming. You feel bad for Eric, but you get why Logan did it. High scool can do some crazy, crazy things to people.
Frostina Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Keen on the story? Super duper keen! cant wait for the next chapter! You feel bad for Eric, but you get why Logan did it. High scool can do some crazy, crazy things to people. Ditto! Grrr... i hope Logan lives upto what he thinks he is and 'not' use the pictures! (rather not have to)
Jwolf Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 I can tell you without spoiling anything that Logan doesn't use the pictures. That's all I can say, though.
Jwolf Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 The next chapter is ready and available here. Check it out and tell me what you think
methodwriter85 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) That was a pretty brilliant move on her part. Logan becomes indebted to her, and she doesn't have the unpleasantness of breaking her brother's heart. And if she gets him accustomed to the lifestyle of being popular, Logan will never use the picture because he's enjoying the status too much. It's like the old saying- keep your friends close and your enemies closer. So she's Regina George, Logan is Cady Heron, Eric is Aaron Samuels, Taylor is Gretchen Weiner, and Whitney is Karen Smith. Now we just need a Janis Ian and a big fat gay guy. The lunch scene. Ugh. I had a rather unpleasant run-in with the popular 11th grade straight-edge punk crowd in 9th grade when I was trying to sit with them on the slope between the street and the courtyard. Let's just say I tried to kick a popular punk in the nads, and wound up on the ground. And I was teased until they graduated. Edited July 16, 2011 by methodwriter85
Jwolf Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Yeah, in my opinion, Tori is so scary because she's so smart. She got dealt a blow and she came roaring back with a vengeance a week later. Badass. I used to sit at the center table in our lunch room, first at the cool annex and then eventually, by proxy of my older sister and her cool friends, at the actual popular table. It was a long climb to the summit, but I made it and I never looked back. I'm glad to see it wasn't only at my school that it was a big big deal where you sat.
methodwriter85 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Well, in my case I just became a floater. You meet more people that way.
Jwolf Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 The new chapter is up and available here. I've decided on posting weekly on Wednesdays baring the occasional emergency. Enjoy
Conner Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I couldn't believe all the words/phrases you came up with to describe Tori's obesity when she was younger. I think "Astrodome large" was the one that set me off. Now obviously Tori would be embarrassed by those pics but would it really be all that damaging? I could even see Tori turning it around in her favour - along the lines of beating her obsesity and turning out as beautiful as she has. Anyway, I have my suspicions that we haven't heard about everything in the envelope or how Logan will angle it. Now that's another thing on my mind. Does Logan's return salvo have to be disguised like Tori's arrangements for Logan getting his butt kicked? Who me? And here's Eric sitting back loving everyone - Tori, Logan and Taylor - while the chaos reigns all around him. Unbelieveable? Logan seems convinced that if Eric ever had to choose sides, Tori would win hands down. That must be disheartening for Logan to some extent at least, although he's certainly not in love with guy. I suspect Eric will have to enter the fray at some point. Maybe he'll be the one walking through the streets of NoHo exclaiming, "Bring out your dead!" Keep those chapters coming, Jwolf!
Jwolf Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 I can tell you that what Logan has planned will be more than just a little embarrassing for Tori. It's quite big, no pun intended. And in terms of him being anonymous about it, by the time the shit hits the fan, it's clear to everyone who put it there. I can also say without spoiling things that Eric comes out to play soon. I'm glad people aren't too attached to Eric after the whole fight fiasco, because neither is Logan. Thanks so much for your super kind words. Am I to assume you're enjoying this story just a little? More to come soon
methodwriter85 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 It's really refreshing to read a story about a nerd dating a jock boy who doesn't find his soul interwining with the jock as they make love and wants to be together forever. How many people even want to find the love of their life in high school, let alone a gay teenage boy?
Jwolf Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 Spoiler alert: Logan starts dating the varsity quarterback. They become intertwined and in love and whatnot. All in the next chapter. Kidding. I do like to take stories in a direction I haven't quite seen, though. Sometimes that helps me avoid cliches. Sometimes i fall flat on my face on top of them. I wouldn't worry about this story taking that arc, though.
Conner Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Geez, Jwolf, God forbid you should ever drop a cliche into one of your stories. Can't have that! No, your preference is to toss the reader into this magnetically charged field where his compass is completely useless. I roam around directionless, feeling very much out of control. It's scary, I tell you! I'm reminded of that line from the song, Hotel California by The Eagles....you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave. It's working, though.
methodwriter85 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Spoiler alert: Logan starts dating the varsity quarterback. They become intertwined and in love and whatnot. All in the next chapter. And in the next chapter, the Quarterback gets into a car accident, and Logan cries over his comatose body in the hospital. Every time I watch Teen Wolf, I keep thinking that Tyler Possey reminds me of Logan. I just picture him like this. He even has that soft hair that you can run your hands through that JWolf really likes his characters to have. Plus, Logan being Hispanic adds some spice to the story. Jwolf Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Hmm... we'll have to sort through all that for the TV adaptation. A hispanic Logan. It is Houston, so it could more than work. In the meantime, chapter 5 is finished and available here. Check it out and let know what you think!
methodwriter85 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 So Eric was in on it. Man. Saved me the trouble of feeling sorry for him. Maybe Logan's dad was WASP, Logan's mother was from Spain, and that's why she went back to Europe? Seriously though, I don't think it will be as dire for people to find out Tori was once fat as Logan thinks it will be. Although it could be more that people don't like her, and they want to take her down. It does seem like the Perse family are big ol' fakers- they're nouveau riche. Finally...Armie Hammer...*drool* Now THERE'S someone you can tell is just old money wealth all around. I would love to sit around Armie Hammer and listen to him read stories. God, what a voice. Just like velvet.
Jwolf Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Yeah, don't feel sorry for Eric yet. However, his sister is blackmailing him. That would suck for anyone, no? On it's own, the pictures of Tori wouldn't be embarrassing. But have you been around teenage girls during homecoming? It's insane. Literally, a madhouse. If Logan times it perfectly, and Tori's homecoming is ruined somehow, well, that would be devastating. And I think I just soiled my iPad watching the above video. Thanks alot, bud.
methodwriter85 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Armie Hammer seriously looks like a Disney Prince come to life.
