  1. I agree, among the villains of Disney animated movies, Ursula is one of the best.
  2. Maybe I was too hasty in deleting it and I ended up drawing attention to me being insecure, but now it's too late, sigh.
  3. (Deleted bad attempt at humour that no one cared about.)
  4. That was my first thought when I saw PTA on the title of Cassie's thread, but it quickly became apparent it was something medical, which was enough for Google to help me. When people write only PT, that's when my mind goes for personal trainer.
  5. While reading this topic lately, I keep having to remember that PT doesn't mean personal trainer in this context.
  6. If you want to continue reading this story, you can do so on Awesome Dude. Someone explained the reason it's still getting it is authors have to submit a completed story all at once. I also hope he continues this story here and then the SFTF sequel, but, when people write stuff for free, we're not entitled to demand it. What I do think we're entitled to is an explanation, I think he should have told us something in the many times he visited GA since he left.
  7. Someone in my family had alcohol problems at one point, it was difficult for people to get him to accept he needed help. When he got clean, the doctor told him he should never have any alcohol again, not even a small bit for a toast. Like you, he didn't have any cravings since then, but he has still stuck to zero alcohol for many years by now. But you didn't have a choice, you needed those pills for a while after that. What you're saying you felt when you took them sounds scary, but you managed it. That's difficult, no matter how many years it's been, and you did it.
  8. I was joking about you not being nice to your PTA, but of course it goes both ways, he also needs to be nice and careful about your injuries. But you were probably just unlucky the first time and this one being highly recommended bodes well. As for your husband, I obviously can't know how someone I don't know is like, so I'll talk about my thoughts on people on average. I imagine a lot of people would react differently to not having sex in the normal day to day than when they've gone what I imagine is significantly longer without it.
  9. Jason not interested in sex, now I've seen everything. That's how you know it's serious. But that's good because it sounds like your body really wouldn't be able to handle it right now. It sounds like your recovery is going well, I'm glad you're doing better. If you're not nice to your PTA, your husband should contact @CassieQ to put your story as a guest spot in her "Ways to annoy your PTA" thread.
  10. Justin's head is in the right place in not wanting favours and so is Martin's in not wanting to give them. That was the only slight turmoil and it got settled right away. Justin now knows Martin is in love with a guy, we'll see what he does with that information. As far we know, he didn't tell Ben so far. Everything with Eddie and Mitch went well, I get the impression they'll do a good job at figuring out how to adapt some pubs and a great job at managing the bar in one of them later one. I'm curious at what the waiter at the end wanted. I laughed at "They did actually use the Thai Kok".
  11. I'm a big fan of the MCU movies and of Spider-Man in general. The one exception of a non-Marvel superhero I like a lot is Batman.
  12. A superhero whose father died? It can't possibly be true, that never happens! Yes, Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered when he was a kid.
  13. I think the guy wearing headphones was actually Viv. We first get this description, which doesn't include a name: But we're told later this guy is Viv: But, from Lawrence's reaction to the headphones, I take it they're identical to Ali's. So maybe they're the same headphones and Ali hands them to Viv as part of his shift into Felix because keeping them may be too obvious.
  14. The rector issuing veiled threats to Lawrence isn't a surprise, neither to us nor to him. But, considering he's only there for the duration of the investigation, he doesn't care about what they could do long term. I love his intentionally changed translation of "Omens exist to warn us" instead of "Monsters". The rector, like Herr Becker, pretends to hide his dislike of Lawrence, while still making sure it's left clear. On the other hand, some of the golden circle guys are much more direct. That means it has to be obvious to Bastien as well, which makes him ignoring it be interesting. Bastien has been strangely interested in Lawrence and now he was brushing his knee on Lawrence's tight and continued after he adjusted himself. This makes me wonder if his interest is in a crush kind of way, although that would be strange, considering how he barely knows Lawrence and his interest seems to have started when he knew even less. But Bastien's opening question to him is “How’s the outside world?”, maybe Lawrence being an outside to that kind of world is what Bastien is attracted to, a reverse of the reaction of a lot of people there. Felix being in the golden circle while his twin brother Ali isn't is interesting, there has to be a story there. But, on the risk of sounding crazy, are they really two different people? If anyone is eccentric enough to pretend to be his own twin, it's Ali. Lawrence says he didn't see Felix at lunch and he looked in the direction of the golden circle table while standing next to Ali, he'd have noticed if an identical guy was there. Plus, this chapter says Lawrence saw seven guys at the golden circle table at lunch and then describes seven golden circle guys at the library (I counted them), but this doesn't include Felix because he was hiding at the time. That makes it eight members with Felix and someone, probably him, wasn't at the golden circle table at lunch.
  15. Opinions are welcome, including when I partially disagree with them. If everyone agreed all the time, the world would be boring. Bruce Wayne isn't Batman for long in Batman Begins, but that's because the movie is about how he becomes Batman. It's crazy that he never had an origin story in a movie before that. But The Dark Knight places importance on his moral values as Batman as a contrast with the real focus of the movie, The Joker's views in the world and methods. The Dark Knight Rises isn't bad, but it's the weakest one. I think the trilogy should have ended with a movie that focuses more on Bruce Wayne being Batman, after one about becoming Batman and one about the Joker. So I don't think he hated Batman, but he was more interested in other things and not having one movie focused on his being Batman was a miss.
  16. My favourite is Spider-Man, who is an actual superhero. But Batman also up there, especially on the Dark Knight movie trilogy, which has zero actual superpowers. The Dark Knight (the movie, not the full trilogy) and Inception made me become fans of the director, Christopher Nolan, and that hasn't changed.
  17. I watched a couple episodes of The Boys and stopped. I realized that, while cynical takes on things can be interesting, I don't enjoy them on superheroes. Superheroes are my escapism, I don't want to interfere with that. I do think what I watched was well done, just a well done thing that's not what I'm looking for.
  18. Once your injury is bad enough that you need surgery, you have more than earned the right to complain about it. You don't need to blame it on yourself. I'm glad to hear there's been some progress, but that pain is rough. I hope it will at least reduce to more manageable amounts soon.
  19. I couldn't be part of the Sacred Knights of Trolling Krista because I have no allegiance. I'll throw jokes in whatever direction is funniest at any given moment, possibly even at myself.
  20. It's up to date now, but I know I'll forget to update my age range when the time comes, which is years away.
  21. That sounds like what someone who's afraid Krista would say. Btw, I love Krista, she is adorable.
  22. I'm not religious, but I think it's interesting that Pope Leo XIV named himself that precisely because of the similarity between AI and the Industrial Revolution. Specifically, he says it's as important to protect workers rights now in the face of AI as when Pope Leo XIII focused on that during the Industrial Revolution. As for the actual topic at hand, this is a good use of AI. It's something it's very good at doing and it doesn't replace humans as much as give days for humans to build upon. What I'm not a fan of is using AI in creative fields because it feels like it almost steals from humans authors when it learns from their styles.

    Chapter 7

Small language note: I like the use of "The Malik" because it matches the sentence structure in my own language. Many Portuguese sentences use the equivalent of "the" before people's names.

    Chapter 7

The ceremony was moving, you portrayed grief very well. It was interesting to see what their customs are on a funeral, but also the ways each character grieves, especially Rhaelce. During the funeral, it felt like his grief was mostly internal, but he let it out the next morning through the fight with Malik. We were told in the previous chapter him and Myrra blame themselves for not protecting Naivres because they're fighters. That's why Rhaelce's grief and anger come out through fighting. That's also why he doesn't hold back, he's channeling emotions, not training Malik. Rothik says Naivres' death is Malik's fault and I wonder if he knows anything of what happened or if he's just blaming the stranger. We know Naivres went out to practice fighting because she saw Malik doing it with Rhaelce, which doesn't make it Malik's fault at all, but some people could think otherwise. But Rothik could also simply have thought that, since this stranger person showed up and shortly after a child on his host family died, him being there was somehow the cause. Nyrra always hated Malik, so I'm not surprised she believed Rothik, I half expected her to blame him regardless of that. Mythe is a lot more surprising, but having a specific person to blame can make it feel less bad for a grieving person in a kind of twisted way, rather than a feeling that no one could have done anything. Or it's possible that him being nice to Malik was only because of his religious beliefs, he decided they would take care of him because the priest said so, but now the priest is saying it's Malik's fault. Rhaelce must care a lot about Malik. I get that he thinks Rothik, Nyrra and Mythe are wrong about Malik and how serious the consequences of what they want to do could be. But, even in these circumstances, leaving his family behind to protect a guy he only met recently is a big cost that he took without hesitation.
  25. You just knew one of us would have jumped at that joke if you hadn't included the disclaimer.
