That's one way to identify a good writer, the ability to notice the characters want to go in a direction different than the writer expected. It's not the only way, I'm not saying people who haven't done this are all bad writers. But it's one factor among others. And I do like flips in the traditional dynamics, so such as this twink top and jock bottom one.

That was hot, especially for what I saw you say was the first time (of many) you wrote a sex scene. I was going to read this a couple days ago, but I was in public and decided against it when I saw the title. I made the right decision, lol. Someone pointed out Brandon acted differently towards Tyler in this chapter than in the first time they reconnected, I have a theory as to why. We know Brandon has been attracted to Tyler since he was 11, but he didn't think anything would ever happen. I think, at first, Brandon was afraid of letting himself get too attached because he thought Tyler wasn't interested in him. And so the closer he got, the harder it would be when Tyler moved on to doing stuff that don't involve sharing a bed with him. But now he knows Tyler is attracted to him too and, although his confusion about his sexuality means there's some risk, there's a reasonably chance of them being together and Brandon is going to do whatever he can to grab it. We see how much Tyler is attracted to Brandon in that he ignores his best friend to be with him, which he shouldn't have done. Also because wants to bottom for the first time, despite the lack of lube and, at the end, even goes for a kink he's not interested in for Brandon's benefit. Similarly, we see how much Brandon is attracted to Tyler that, despite getting to fuck Tyler being a dream he never thought he'd get to leave, he still offers to stop because it would hurt Tyler to do it without lube. Also because, as he thinks before rimming Tyler, he wants it to be something neither of them will ever forget, and because he makes sure to double check Tyler won't regret where he shoots. This is just great advice from Brandon that everyone should follow: “That doesn’t matter to me. You should never feel like you have to do anything you aren’t willing to do. Not just for me, but for anyone. Never compromise your limits or lines to make someone else happy.”

The exchanges between Martin and Nathan were sweet. They're both unsure of their sexualities, but they also clearly love each other. All they need now is to realise they don't have to label themselves, it's enough to just go with the love they feel. It's good that they know where each other stands, it helps avoid insecurities. Natasha is as evil as expected, her being homophobic is extremely unsurprising. The law seems to be on the side of Benjamin being allowed to stay with Martin if he wants to, which he does. Natasha's threats were probably done with the expectation of not having to follow up on them, thinking the intimidation would be enough to stop Benjamin. I actually hope she goes to court because she was stupid enough to leave threats in writing. Whatever's contained in those text messages, which were described as abusive, won't make things pleasant for her in court. Knowing now that Natasha found out Benjamin is gay, it's a relief that Martin found out first. If that hadn't happened accidentally, Benjamin probably wouldn't tell him out of fear of a second parent freaking out. And he'd live miserably very limited contact with his boyfriend, only being able to see him when he could be certain his Natasha wouldn't know. I'm not too lazy to research it, Benjamin is the twin. And Noah is younger, but I couldn't find his age.

Gavin is a full on villain, he's at least racist and homophobic. Like a few people said, I get the impression Ted is not a dick like Having, and he only hangs out with him because he's afraid Gavin's bullying would turn against him if he didn't. We'll see if Leon notices this and is able to turn him. It's a shame that Jeff got himself in trouble again, I thought he had a change of turning himself around and acting positively towards Michael and Stephen. I was initially surprised he got bail, because I'm used to hard ass judges on stories, but it makes sense with the worst charges being dubious. Fingers crossed his father manages to get him a not too bad sentence. We knew Leon is protective of Stephen, but now we see that extends to other kids who get bullied. I think growing up with seeing how much it hurts his brother has made him want to be there for others too. It's sad to see Mrs. Baxter initially sceptical reaction at Leon because it means he's faced people pretending to be nice before, only to turn to be bullies.

This was a great chapter. Nothing flashy happened, but good stories aren't just made of that. Malik learning a bit of the aliens' language, the differences in the personalities across the family, learning their fighting and teaching his own, and wondering about one difference in their body are all part of an important and interesting process. Nyrra's reactions towards Malik aren't caused by prejudice against him being from a different species, they come from a place of wanting to protect her family in a world where I can guess they learned that trusting the unknown can be dangerous. That's why she didn't want to each food he was involved in preparing, she was probably worried he might poison them. And it's why she wouldn't have liked to learn Rhaelce was teaching him how to fight with the staff, she'd probably worry Malik would use that to kill them. We learned from Rhaelce's point of view in a previous chapter that he's also distrusting of Malik, although less than Nyrra. But Malik found a way to connect with him through their mutual interest in fighting. Rhaelce wanted to learn a new style from Malik and making a mutual exchange was beneficial to both and let them bond a bit. I wonder if Rhaelce distrusts Malik less now because someone willing to teach him a new fighting style is unlikely to want to attack them, it wouldn't have been smart of Malik to teach him if he wanted to attack them. The funny misunderstanding while dealing with a new language is classic. I'm sure it happened to me, but I don't remember right now. So, instead of that, I'll give a general example I've heard happens to Portuguese people. The Portuguese and Spanish languages are similar enough that we can bullshit our way around mostly guessing how to say things in Spanish enough to be able to function as tourists in Spain. But, sometimes, that fails and a classic pitfall is a Portuguese woman trying to say she's embarrassed in Spanish may accidentally say she's pregnant. The Portuguese word for "embarrassed" is "embaraçada" (if said by a woman, "embaraçado" if said by a man) and the Spanish word for "pregnant" is "embarazada", with the bolded letter in each word being the only difference.

Oh, god! The most embarrassing thing that can happen in a teenager's life, knowing one of their parents heard them moan. It was good of Leon Sr. to warn them, it's better for boys to have one of their fathers notice than one of their mothers. Then there was the conversation with the other Leon, I'm glad he told Stephen and Michael about it. Michael was quick to piece it together and realising he should avoid saying his uncle's name for Leon's sake. Later, Leon was thoughtful to ask what he didn't know about Michael being blind in a respectful way. Jeff, on the other hand, was a dick to Pete in revealing the story was on GA. Okay, the site isn't named, but you know it's not Nifty because it only had one section about gay boys, instead of a ton of sex. Meanwhile, Jeff is a complete idiot who just ruined his own life. He knew he had to be on his best behaviour after his case was settled, but he did the complete opposite. Ah, I'm finally caught up on commenting on chapters I read a couple days ago, after not having time to do it yesterday.

That's very often, although not always, the case with this kind of crime. I imagine they're going to be pissed at Leon now and they may get physical.

I like them listening to the website about coming out, both because I think it's a good idea and because it's sweet of Stephen to do it that way with Michael, instead of just reading it, which Michael can't. The bathroom scene is also sweet, until they get caught. Stephen being there allowed Michael to do something he can't do alone, and he obviously wouldn't ask anyone else to hold his penis. Leon freaks out at seeing Stephen and Michael naked with boners and we soon learn why. We had seen him be a bit hesitant about Stephen being gay, without going full on homophobic, and now we know why. He was eight when his uncle molested him, he probably hadn't even heard of gay people before that. So it's not surprising that he would form a negative opinion to some extent. Now the uncle will be released and he's certainly going to show up at some point, that will be bad. At the end, Leon thankfully sees the guys picking on Stephen in time and we see his protective side in action. He gets there in no time and doesn't hesitate to attack, even as one against two. He stroke hard against one of them, but it was self defense, and he couldn't exactly be careful about the strength he used when he needed to be fast and use the element of surprise to counterbalance them being two. So I don't think he'll be in trouble.

But he also feels an urge to clarify he isn't complaining as he doesn't mind this, he just needs to be careful. As he's walking away, he briefly wonders why is he narrating his thoughts in the third person.

I think Brandon being nervous about Tyler seeing the painting of him shows how big Brandon's crush on his is. Because Brandon sounds like the kind of guy that normally doesn't care what people thing about his paintings, he does them for himself. But he cares this time because it's Tyler seeing a painting of him. Further evidence includes his momentary sadness at the idea of sleeping in a guest room, instead of with Tyler, and the fact that accepting Tyler's invitation to go to his house is practically breaking his rule of not hitting on straight or confused boys. There's also evidence of how big Tyler's crush on Brandon is. After being separated for years, he keeps basically looking for reasons to be with him, since he reconnected. It happened when he texted Brandon in the previous chapter and again in this one when, as soon as he was faced with separating from Brandon, he invited him to his place. Plus, even though Tyler keeps complaining about his smell, he actions almost make it look like he doesn't mind it. And that's because his feelings for Brandon are stronger than his dislike for the smell. We also learn why Brandon smells and it's the same reason he sleeps in that hot as hell place, instead of his room in the main house with a more reasonable temperature. He'd have to shower at the main house and he wants to avoid his parents as much as possible. Meanwhile, Tyler's shower is insane, I want to use it. Near the end of the chapter, there's a small gesture. Brandon, who doesn't care whether things end up on the floor or wherever at his place, went to put Tyler's tower back in it's place because he knows that's what he'd want.

Jeff is lucky about who is father is. While Chuck doesn't look like the kind to give him preferential treatment, other parents wouldn't have had access to showing him the sad facts about teenagers who go through juvy. This will benefit others too, but it was that connection that let Lester make him see this. That being said, Jeff needs to be careful now (he probably won't), getting in trouble again could be a lot worse. We also learn Jeff punched a teacher in the nose three years ago, which means he's been a problematic kid for a while. Michael and Stephen are progressing in their relationship, there's that sneaky hand very high on Stephen's thigh. But they're going slowly and that's good, both because of how young they are and because Stephen only just started to discover he's not straight a few days ago. Stephen's mom understandably wants to make sure she can support her son in whatever may result of him being gay, especially considering how much he has already suffered, something she only found out a few days ago.

The Ray and Charlie situation was strange, it's not exactly common to see the complainer and the target of the complaint both caring about each other's well being. The key thing for me was when we were told Ray "just didn't understand how anyone could enjoy being gay." That makes me think maybe Ray is gay and is unhappy about that, maybe because it clashes with some kind of beliefs he has. So then the way he acts towards Charlie is more about his lack of acceptance of himself, with Charlie's happiness with being gay reminding him of what he doesn't have. Hopefully the appointments help. Martin and Nathan together was sweet. Nathan is moving slowly, with not wanting to do anything the first night and going home after they did the second one. But this is still new to him and each person has their own pace. Finger crossed things will evolve into further intimacy between them. Now the barbed wire story was painful to even imagine.

Ah, I see. Then that's not homophobia, like I thought. It's sadness about what else he may go through because he's gay, on top of what he already deals with.

Fingers crossed they accept Jeff going to military school. While he's a problematic teenager, going to juvy for a few years (until he's 18, while he's currently 15) is way too harsh for what he did. To be clear, this isn't me criticising the writing, I definitely believe the too harsh punishment is realistic. He did know the police had been called, Leon told him. But it seems the adults are assuming he didn't know, so hopefully they don't ask and that doesn't make his punishment worse. Jeff told Brodie that Leon ratted him out, that could be bad for Leon if he runs into Brodie. And by "could" I basically mean "will be" because I know Lee wouldn't include this if he wasn't going to follow up on it. Meanwhile, Leon says he's maybe disappointed that Stephen is gay. That's incomparably better than hating someone for that, but it's still not good. But I think Leon can turn around and be fully supportive after some time.

Having some ground rules is a good idea, but setting a thirty day trial with a schedule for check-ins feels too formal for me. But if it works for them, that's what matters. The way Evan talks, I trust that he wants to act differently than last time. That's important, but there's a difference between what a person wants to do and what they actually do when the time comes. So fingers crossed, but we'll see.

Interesting premise. J clearly still loves Evan, so they should try again. But they need to set rules and J needs to be mentally ready to leave if they aren't followed, otherwise he'll get hurt more.

I need to start from the end. Jeff is stupid for stealing beer, especially while being underaged. Leon said he could have given him one from the refrigerator, but he goes and gets himself arrested. Leon is also stupid for playing along with Jeff's plan, but less so because he doesn't take the fall for something he was only accompanying while Jeff did it, he told the officer the truth. Now let's see how screwed Jeff is by this. I get the need for Michael's mom to be more careful with his safety because of his blindness, but I think she goes too far. Sleeping in a tent at a friend's backyard is very safe, it would have been fine for him to do it without needing Jeff. And now Jeff won't be able to go, so she might actually say no. Meanwhile, Stephen and Michael were caught by Jeff and Leon, but it doesn't seem like that will lead to anything bad for them.

It was clear from previous chapters that Tyler is attracted to Brandon. Now Brandon changed his tone when Tyler mentioned Christine, which he identified as being caused by jealousy, I think correctly. Based on that, Brandon is also attracted to Tyler. He also once practically ran home to paint Tyler jacking off, but I wouldn't put past Brandon to have done that for the sake of art, rather than feelings. But that's not the only thing making Brandon want to be careful. Tyler is only now discovering his sexuality so, from his point of view, there's a risk he's just experiment and wouldn't want a full relationship with him. Plus he disappeared on his once, they didn't talk for years, he could do it again. Brandon has this cool unique art project, but the goal isn't showing it to people, is for him to improve on painting in unusual conditions and using the darkness as a tool. When Tyler texts, Brandon takes him there, to what seems to me like he's letting him in to something personal that he wouldn't show most people. Regardless of any romantic feelings, I think this is sign of the friendship they had still being there all these years later. After showing he knows a shortcut, Tyler implies he had spied on Brandon there before, although that's still different from actually having Brandon explain things. But it also shows a common interest of sort, wandering around in the dark and creeping on people.

An entire chapter where nothing bad happened, this sounds like the calm before the storm. And the trial starting tomorrow probably means having to remember stuff they'd rather not think about. Meanwhile, Sam and Virgil are on a streak of not getting caught, after being unlucky a few times in a row. They had actual sex this time and it went well, the advice they received was helpful. Art's dads seem cool and it's nice that him being the biological son of one of them doesn't seem to affect his relationship with the other one. Fingers crossed things go well with Seth. Art needs a boyfriend and Seth needs friends. If he's gay or bi, it sounds like he'll like Art, but there's still that question left. And, given how easily the group accepted Art, I expect the same will happen with Seth, but we'll see.

There's no need to worry about that in this story because, the more obvious and even overdone something is, the more you should do it in a parody.

I'm glad you decided not to end the story in the previous chapter, there's still so many tropes left that can only be done after the events of Homecoming. This is a weird story in that things that I would normally not like, such as coincidences that are too convenient for the plot, are actually positive aspects here because they fit the trope and that's what a parody should be doing. So yeah, Ryan being away in the morning of the next day of school for a completely unrelated reason was good, and it thankfully got resolved quickly. Them not texting over the weekend added to this situation, but it's unsurprising with these two. I think Skylar is the one who should have taken the initiative, considering Ryan was likely overwhelmed by everything that happened. But Sky is an emotional wreck, so of course he was insecure about what Ryan could be thinking. Seeing Madison be that mad is very satisfying, but I'm worried for Sloane. I'm sure she's having the time of her life seeing Madison suffer, but it could get ugly for her if someone manages to prove she's the one who did it. This was probably used before, but I still laughed at the term "Bubble-Gum Brigade", it fits so well. Nothing beats "God bless the tragic twink" from one of the early chapters, thought, that was perfect. Skylar actually took the undesired attention from being blamed better than I expected, including while he didn't even know what Ryan was thinking. He didn't get affected that much and, very important, didn't let it show that it did affect him to some extent, especially when facing Madison. Secret boyfriends is the best arrangement for them now, but surely someone will see them and out them, and that will be very bad for Ryan.

That's so stupid. Here in Portugal, the consequences are mainly for whoever gives or sells alcohol to minors and a lot less for those minors. I know I'm replying to a comment from almost a year ago, but whatever. And I'll comment on the actual chapter tomorrow.

But I'll say now that this is the best chapter so far. I do that when I'm walking around the house, I usually don't bother turning on the lights because I know the way and where things are. But, unlike what you said in another comment, I prefer to have good light in the place I'm going to stay at. Especially if I'm going to look at a computer screen, the contrast crested by doing it in the dark bothers my eyes.

I'd be okay if it ended here because it wraps up almost everything, although I'd prefer an epilogue dealing with the 90 days. But, even though that could work, I think it has a lot of potential for a continuation. Basically, the story continuing versus it ending isn't a case of good versus bad in my view, it's great versus okay.
