    Chapter 3

Chapter Three “I found three kids in a treehouse today. The stink was awful, even from the ground.” William dropped onto the cot beside Creed. He rubbed the back of his neck, then winced. The skin was already pink, and rapidly turning red. “How did we get used to this shit so fast?” “Necessity.” That word was beginning to have an evil overtone to Barron. They should all be living it up, planning a graduation party to end all parties… instead they were searching houses for dead people. “That

    Chapter 2

Chapter Two “Calm down, please, calm down.” Mr. Hodge attempted to restore some calm in the darkness. When the girls didn’t stop shrieking he shouted, “Girls!” That shut them up, though a few whimpers didn’t stop. “Thank you.” There was a low murmur. “Okay, Mr. Brasher has a small light. We’re going to turn it on and get the emergency lights out of the storage box. No one else is to move until further instruction.” The tour guide’s tiny light lit the room like a strobe. It bounced off the hu
  3. Barron's dad makes him toe the line, and to keep his friends, they do too. The new guy could never fit in... but Revi doesn't act like he even wants to, which drives Barron crazy. Life takes a drastic turn, and Revi Porter's long hair, soft lips, and aggravating emo dress code are the last things on Barron's mind. There's no room for petty grudges in the struggle to survive. When saving a little girl leaves Barron lost in the dark, will he learn how to really see?

    Chapter 1

Chapter One “Everyone have their slipcards? You’re going to need them.” Barron ignored the lecturing teacher. Everyone waited in the parking lot, at his request, while he went over all the rules. Like they didn’t all know them already. Well, maybe not the new kid. Who dressed like that? He was obviously trying to attract all sorts of the wrong attention. Guys around here did not wear their hair long and flowing, curling around their shoulders. Jeans were meant to fit relaxed and held up with

    Chapter 29

“I don’t care where the fuck you were, or why you let them get us that far. Sheshtun hurt my mate. All the evidence you could possibly need is right here at my location.” Benny glared at the back of the doc’s head as he stood by the back of the truck, his head swiveling around constantly as he peered around. Discreet. Benny snarled into the phone. “Benny, I’m sorry. We’re just outside town now. The teams are getting in place. I need your intel.” “Too damn bad. Besides, I got you a prime intel
  6. 2014 is half over! It seems like every year, time flies faster and faster. Sometimes it feels the same when we have new authors join who quickly become a fixture on the site and begin to move up in the ranks. I thought it was past time to feature another Promising author this month, and hit upon the perfect story. In keeping with the Christmas in July theme, I thought we'd read Cole Matthew's story, Advent! Advent by Cole Matthews Description: Brian and Danny are married. But they are stuck in limbo and can’t get past it. Can an Advent calendar, some Christmas ornaments, and a cigarette get them beyond the stasis that has frozen their lives? Will the lights of Christmas shining in the darkness help them find the peace they truly need? This is a Christmas story in eight parts. A Reader Said: Lovely story Cole! You do new takes on old themes so well ~ Kitt So, stay cool/warm (depending on your hemisphere) by curling up inside to enjoy Cole's novella length story. Make sure you come back ready to discuss it on Monday, July 28th!
  7. GA is a wonderful site, both for those new to write and those new to sharing their writing. We have a very vocal community of dedicated writers and readers. You might find a greater number of reads or comments on your stories on some other sites, but a big difference is our focus on quality--and helping others reach a higher level of writing, be it in regards to their actual skills or just gaining an audience. I couldn't write worth a hill of beans when I joined GA, and now I've work ePublished. I couldn't have done it without the site, and I spend a lot of my time here trying to help other authors like I was helped. Check out our Writer and Editor's Corners, read and review, peruse our entertainment forums... and consider taking part in our Fall Anthology. You can find more details in the anthology forum. The anthologies are due in September, but this gives you an event with a greater range of readers who will read your work. Also, as a short story event, it helps reduce pressure on creating a novella or novel. We've had members submit stories a few hundred words to nearly 20k, in all sorts of styles and genres. They're a great way to wet your feet.

    Chapter 27

Thanks, Blankpage! I'm so sorry I didn't answer this review last week. I could've sworn I did. There is definitely something going on with the Tiger Pride. What it is, exactly, will become clear soon. Thanks again for the review!

    Chapter 27

I could've sworn I replied to last week's reviews! I'm sorry, Cyn. Sheshtun is definitely a bad, bad man. You will get to meet Yuri's brother, but I can't say how just yet. Thanks for the review!

    Chapter 28

“Hurry up!” Benny hissed. The doctor frantically typed on the keyboard. “Dump the stuff in the fridge in the sink and start the water.” Benny snagged a bunch of beakers in the small, white fridge. Benny carefully dumped them in the sink, unsure of what they were. He didn’t want the shit on his skin. “What about these?” he whispered, holding up two racks of stoppered vials. “Microwave.” The Tiger was stripping file folders and throwing them in a metal garbage bin. “You can’t set a fire!” Benn
  11. This month we're featuring CJames' Anthology stories for June's CSR Discussion Day. If you haven't read them yet, well... watch out for spoilers! A Signature Author from way back, CJ has a lot of variety for readers to enjoy--going from short shorts to super long epics. Do you have a favorite? Leaving Club Leo Review by Cia Leaving Club Leo was the first story of CJ's that I read. What impressed me most was the level of technology and the research he must have done. I was very involved with suspense of the story as well, which kept me on the edge of my seat. Jeff's desire for an adventure really didn't turn out how he expected. Waiting to find out if their rescue would come in time was nail biting... but I'm not going to tell you! If you want to know if Jeff and the commander make it... read the story! Category 5 Review by Red_A To describe how you feel when there is a Large Blow is difficult. The rush to get the most out of the wind before it gets too difficult. The feeling of fear as to what the future is? The wish to help others is intensified. The feeling that you know what will happen It affect concentration, some people make mistakes, some perform brilliantly. The relief when it is over, and did it actually happen? CJ cover these brilliantly and in an easy entertaining way. The descriptions also show that he has experience a large blow as it is very true to life. It is one of his many gems. So, did you read one of CJ's stories? What did you think?

    Chapter 1

“Nuh-uh. No way.” “C’mon, babe. It’ll be fun.” Hagan bent over Kelly, his wide shoulders blocking out the glow shining through the porthole from the rainbow lights in the pool. “You know you’ll blow them all out of the water.” “We’re on a ship. I don’t want to hear about things blowing out of the water. That’s gotta be bad luck or something.” Kelly gripped the headboard. “Besides, you can’t make me.” “I can.” Hagan sounded so sure of himself. It was the one thing that always made Kelly melt.

    Chapter 27

“What in the hell are you doing to him?” Benny ran his fingers over the cuffs behind his back. They were heavy duty. The Tiger taking his blood ignored him. Two big guards both sniggered when his voice come out nasal. Fuckers broke his damn nose again. Benny spat at them, blood and spit spraying their boots. One hissed. The other growled and kicked Benny in the stomach. He groaned, falling sideways, ripping the needle out of his arm. “What the hell?” the Tiger snapped. “Stop kicking him until
  17. Let it Ride by L.C. Chase My rating: 4 of 5 stars I read Let it Ride... and then let it ride. It's hard to write this review without spoiling the story. My first impressions of Bridge were of a big, affable cowboy whose everyone's friend on the surface. Under that, he has a great big heart that's set on Eric. Eric is cautious, and with his past, slow to trust. Watching their dance play out as they go from the private 'I want him, does he want me?' moments to the end was great. At no time did I feel the author overdid the drama. Sure, there were some moments when I really wished the characters would just TALK, but by far, the emphasis on their conflict was on the emotional side of things, both the causes and effects, and how they could overcome them. I really, really liked how the ending went most of all. Nothing was magically fixed, the big climactic conflict wasn't swept under the rug or tied off with a neat bow. We got a happily ever after (it's a romance, c'mon, we all know that's coming, so I know that's not a spoiler)that both let me sigh with a smile, and not feel like they were too idyllic or easily overcome. Plus, you know... a hot cowboy and a medico. Two of my favorite things! LOL Definitely a recommend. View all my reviews

    Art?

*shakes head* One man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say. We all see things viewed through our personal lens. Personally, I could've cared less if the guy lost his virginity as he boinked half the student body at his school in the quad or on a stage with a boyfriend or in private in a bedroom. The whole concept doesn't speak to me at all. I'm not impressed, but I'm not shocked, and I'm certainly not offended. Please remember to respect everyone else's right to feel how they wish about the matter--and don't be defensive or offensive if it doesn't agree with yours. And yes, thank you Zombie, we must remain within the limits of the censors to ensure the continued presence of GA's source of income... so no links or images with nudity, everyone! LOL

I love hear how well you two are doing!! (hug) and remember... This too shall pass. As complex, and draining, as your transition all sounds--you have an end date.

    Story

Thank you so much! Even though I typically write sci-fi or paranormal, I like my stories to feel 'real', so I always enjoy when a reader tells me they get that vibe from what I've written. Sensory detail is important, especially with giant, juice burgers! LOL Benny and Yuri's story is ongoing with Lost Inside, right now, and Jerret and Calix do make a cameo, but I don't really have any plans to continue their story. Thanks for the review, 1brokNangel.

LOL! I like your exclamation points! I do! Oh, yeah, there's a lot going on that they don't understand, but I seeded some info into the story earlier that I hope will give readers aha! moments. More will definitely be out next week. Thanks for reviewing, Blankpage29!

    Chapter 26

Yuri fumbled with the little metal keys. His mate vibrated with tension. “What? What is it?” he asked quietly. “I didn’t think they’d come back so soon.” The disappearance of the last two Falcons left them alone. “Get in the truck, Yuri, and stay there.” Yuri took a deep breath, ready to argue. He wrinkled up his nose. “What is… ?” He took another breath. “I know that….” Four Tigers spread out on the sidewalk between them and the truck. “Time to go home,” one said. His name was on the tip of
