I have currently started to work on the final book in the Encounter's series. Everlasting Encounters should be coming out in the near future, but it has raised some issues with the previous books in the series.

It's amazing how quickly we grow as authors. I for one am always learning new things and sometimes when I go back and look at what I have written in the past, I can't help but cringe. I know that I have said that I eventually plan to revise Eternity as well as a couple of other stories, and while that is still true, that has been put on the backburner.

In beginning to work on Everlasting Encounters, I had to go back and re-read both of the previous Encounters stories. Which leads me to this point. As I write Everlasting, I will also be revising the other two stories in the series. First up will be Chance Encounters. The biggest reason for this rewrite is the massive amounts of head hopping that are present in both stories. I didn't know better back then, but now that I do, it will drive me batty to have such blattant mistakes in my writing.

The stories will stay up and the text only will be replaced as I work on the revisions. This will ensure that story views and reviews will remain. If, once I am replacing them you wish to comment and already had on the previous versions, feel free to visit my forum and comment there. I will post in my status as each chapter is replaced.

    Thanks!
    ~Renee

Some people who follow my stories may notice that three of my stories are no longer available. The stories "Eternity", "Secret Admirer Revealed", and "Eternal Christmas", have been unpublished at this time. They will be back up eventually, but right now there is no timetable as that project is being done in the midst of all my other projects. The reason for their temporary removal is very simply. In going through some of my older stories, I cringe when I read them. I have grown so much as a writer and I want all my stories to reflect that.

In between working on other projects, I will be doing a complete revision on the three stories named. Another issue I ran across is that "Eternal Christmas" was extremely rushed. I decided less than a week before Christmas that I wanted to release a Christmas story that year and sat down and wrote "Eternal Christmas" in the span of about four days. When I am finished, I am hoping that it will be another chapter story.

Over the next little while I hope to revamp more than just these three, but for now, those are the ones I am going to be focusing on. Eternity was the first M/M romance I ever wrote and it's easy to tell. Hopefully, after the new version appears, I'll hear from some of you on what you think, and if you had read the previous version, whether or not I was able to improve on the story!

Hey Y'all! Well, I know that someone chose to use one of the last second chance prompts, but there is no link in the thread so that I can feature it. This week I'm once again just going to focus on two of the lonely prompts that nobody used (or at least shared). If you decide to tackle one of these prompts, make sure you share it in the thread.

    Prompt 495 - Creative
Mostly you wanted to stay home, but you won a vacation. Where was the trip to and how was it?

    Prompt 499 - Creative
You going to working long and hard on your project. It is taking years to get to this point but you have finally completed it. What is this major achievement?

Since I'm not sure who posted in response to one of the last prompts, this week I'm going to share the new response to Poetry Prompt #1: Tanka. Don't forget to click on the link to finish reading.

    Darkness Falls - Headstall

    Have you retired
From a world that shames your soul
    One you can’t look at
    Without regret and remorse
    Not so easy being God

Well, it's the end of the week and this one was a busy one. Just a reminder that tomorrow is the CSR Discussion Day for Thaw by Puppilull. If you haven't finished it yet, but wish to take part in the discussion day, you still have time! Also, we're only about a month away from the Fall Anthology deadline (October 28th), so start polishing up those stories and get them sent in to the Anthology Proof Team. Now, let's take a look at the busy week we had in the various GA News blogs!

Hopefully you enjoy this little taste and go check out the story for yourself. If you do, don't forget to leave Cole some reviews!

    Writing Prompts #532 & #533

Are you stuck with your current story? Are you considering writing for the first time? Do you just want a break from what you're working on? Then these are for you! Each week we offer a couple of prompts to help with the creative process that is called writing. If you decide to take on one of these two prompts, then don't forget to provide a link to your response so that it might be shared in the blog!

Anthology Discussion Day - September 2016

There's only a month left until the deadline for the fall anthology (okay, a month plus a few days). Anthology authors joined me on Saturday to talk about where they are in their anthology writing efforts. Some are done and have already sent them in. Some are still working on it. And there are even some that are waiting for inspiration to strike. Curious as to who you can expect to see in this anthology? Well, go take a look!

Devon fled Wyoming as soon as he turned eighteen, leaving behind his high school love, Levi. After six years in the big city, Devon returns to his hometown. Not much has changed, except that Levi is no longer in the closet. He’s also single and living his dream—managing the local wild horse population. Both of them are very interested in picking up where they left off, but Devon is no more ready to reveal his orientation than he was as a teenager.

No one is going to shove Levi back in the closet—not even Devon. For a relationship to work, they’ll have to put the past behind them and find the courage to face the future as who they really are—a couple in love. But Devon doesn’t know if he’s strong enough. Maybe Levi would be better off without him—and his hang-ups.

States of Love: Stories of romance that span every corner of the United States.

    Excerpt

Devon sank down on his couch as exhaustion swamped him. Most of it was from moving in, but the change in elevation didn’t help. He’d gotten used to being closer to sea level, so going back to the dry air at over six thousand feet was going to take some getting used to.

Bloody noses had become the norm while he stayed with Blake. Devon didn’t want to deal with them repeatedly and considered getting a humidifier until he managed to acclimate.

He looked around his living room. Boxes were scattered everywhere, and he should be unpacking, but he was too tired. At least he hadn’t had to carry everything in himself. Blake, Travis, and Seth were waiting for him when he pulled into the apartment complex. They shrugged off his objections and insisted they had nothing better to do. Devon appreciated it, but he wasn’t comfortable around them anymore. He managed to be a proper host, but damn, he was glad they left after a couple beers each. They made noise about getting together again soon, but Devon had used getting settled in as an excuse to keep from committing to anything.

He stood and wandered into his small kitchen. He didn’t bother opening the fridge or any of the cupboards. He knew they were empty. His stomach growled, reminding him he hadn’t eaten for a while. Devon dug his keys out of his pocket and headed for the door. He’d get something to eat and then maybe stop at the store to pick up a few staples. Paper plates, sandwich fixings, some chips, and he’d be good for a couple of days. At least it would give him time to get a few things—like pots and pans—unpacked. Then he could do a full grocery shop.

An hour later he was comfortably full from a greasy burger, fries, and a shake. He’d never eaten a lot of fast food, but he had few other options. He headed to Walmart, determined to stick to his list of sandwich stuff and maybe some eggs. Surely he could dig out some pans before the food expired. He headed to the chips first and scanned for the familiar bag of Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles. They were his all-time favorite, though he also knew he’d want something else after a day or two. So he grabbed a couple of other bags and headed for the eggs and then the freezer aisle.
Sandwiches and chips would get old fast. He found some frozen breakfast sandwiches he could microwave, tossed them in the cart, and moved on. Frozen lasagna quickly joined the few other items in his cart, followed by some potpies, a few TV dinners, and a bag of chimichangas. So what if he wasn’t sticking to his mental list?

He was more focused on getting groceries for the next few days than on the people around him.

    “Devon.”

He froze when a familiar voice spoke his name. He closed his eyes briefly, ducked his head, and steeled himself. He knew it would happen eventually, when he found out Levi still lived there. He thought he’d have more time to prepare. He swallowed—hard—and turned to face the man who had at one time meant everything to him. The man he’d risked being found out for. He lifted his head and gazed into the moss-colored eyes.

    “Levi.”

I'm back! A huge thank you to Cia and Steve for their work on the blog during my vacation. I hope everyone had a great week, but before I get started on the wrap up, I wanted to give a quick reminder that the theme selection for the 2017 anthologies has started. To post your suggestions, visit the thread, but please make sure to read the guidelines posted at the start of it. Now, lets take a look at what happened this week!

It was Signature Week this week. We started out the week with a few reader reviews for Light Reaches Earth by Comicality. There is also the downloadable banner for those of you who would like to use it in your signature. We continued the Signature Week on Wednesday with an excerpt to give you a look at Comicality's story.

If you're looking for inspiration, you might check out the new prompts that were posted on Friday. You have a list of words to work with, or you can use the other prompt which has a tag of "The Servant". We shared last weeks responses to prompt #514 that were provided by jamessavik and JohnAR.

To finish off the week, we had our first monthly anthology discussion. If your curious as to who is planning to participate in the upcoming anthologies, you should check it out. And if you are planning to participate you should join in on the discussion!

The Dark God Neldin has renewed his war with his siblings. The Six have chosen Farrell, last grand master wizard in the Seven Kingdoms to lead the fight against Neldin and his black wizard, Meglar. Joined by others who oppose Neldin, Farrell must still over come his self doubt if he wants to survive.

    Chosen of Honorus Excerpt:

Prince Farrell of Haven sat cross-legged, hovering three feet above the ground, dwarfed by the stone pillars on either side. A gentle spring breeze swept softly over his skin and lifted his long brown hair as he faced the mountains. The morning sun slowly began its westward journey.

He closed his eyes and felt the area around him, from the dips and curves in the land forming a shallow bowl before him, to the hoof-hardened Plains of Gharaha at his back.

The nape of his neck tickled as a droplet of sweat ran down, but he tuned it out, feeling instead for flaws in the walls. He needed the dimensions to be perfect. Anything less threatened his chances of defeating Meglar, the greatest and darkest wizard of their time.
Balance and symmetry, that's how this weapon would work. He blinked his eyes open, satisfied. The twin stone monoliths were six hundred feet apart and fifty feet tall. The mountain had been smoothed and polished to a height of exactly three hundred feet. From tip to tip, his work extended two miles from end to end; one mile on either side of the gates directly in front of him. When closed, the gates would be entirely undetectable. Even by a great wizard. Even by the greatest wizard.

Yes, the left side felt perfect; now for the right.

As he closed his eyes and refocused on the right side, an eagle screeched in the distance. Another screech cut through the air, and with it came a tingle. No matter how he tried to ignore the piercing sound, he couldn't. No ordinary bird called to him.

Reaching out with his senses, he tried and failed to locate what his ears told him he should find. Startled and annoyed, he roused himself and looked up. A pair of brilliant blue eyes, mere inches from his face, greeted him.

Happy Friday, Y'all!!!!! Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend, I know I am! To help start your weekend off right, it's time for some new prompts. Hopefully one of these great prompts will inspire you, and don't forget to share your responses (at least a link) so that they can possibly be featured next week. Also, as always, remember that prompt responses under 1K have to be posted as part of a collection.

    Prompt 524 – Creative
    Tag – List of Words
Use the following in a story – a beach blanket, a sandwich, a bottle of water, a broken shoe, and a bird.

    Prompt 525 – Creative
    Tag – A Life Delayed
At twenty-seven you put your life on hold when your mother’s health declined. It was a long time until she passed, only for your father to follow in her footsteps. You never thought of yourself, but now your life is your own again and you are now forty. What happens now?

For this week, I decided to feature the responses from Prompt #522:

It's once again time to take a look at what has happened here on GA this past week. Emotions have run high after the news about the tragic shooting in Orlando, Florida. While many of us couldn't find the words to say how we felt, Steve managed to do what we couldn't, and shared some thoughts on what happened in Orlando. Some authors, both here at GA and others, are putting together a Poetry Anthology to benefit the victims of the Pulse shooting. If you're interested in participating, you can check out Cazpedroso's blog. Now lets look at what else happened in the blog this week.

This week was signature week, and this months Signature Feature is Krista's story "Standing in Shadows". There were quite a few comments from Krista's readers on Monday, and if interested, you can download a banner for the story. Then on Wednesday, we shared a short excerpt from Krista's story. Check it out if you haven't already, and just maybe you'll find something you haven't read yet!

New prompts were released on Friday. Writing prompts are great if you're suffering from writer's block, if you want to take a break from your current story, or if you're wanting to write something for the first time. If one of Friday's prompts doesn't catch your attention, you can check out all the past prompts in the prompt forum. Don't forget to share your prompt responses in the thread, and remember that prompt responses under 1K need to be posted as part of a collection.

Keep your eyes out, I'll have a new story coming to Gay Authors Premium in the very near future!

Marc got what he’d wanted for years, but it’s enough to tear apart his friendship with Casey. Marc tries to avoid Casey, but that’s not always possible. A series of incidents puts both of their jobs on the line and Marc and Casey have to decide whether or not the resulting consequences are worth continuing their feud. Or can they put the past behind them and learn to work together as the team they used to be?

    Excerpt

“Earth to Marc, come in Marc.” Rick made a show of waving his hand in front of Marc’s face. He waited until he had Marc’s attention.“Did you hear anything I said?”

“Sorry.” Marc glanced at him, but the lure of Casey Morgan was too strong to ignore. He returned his gaze to linger on the blond that had walked through the doors of the bar a moment earlier. “I was distracted.” Half of the bar separated them, but he knew from experience that the chances of avoiding a confrontation were slim to nil.

“Obviously.” Their companion, and coworker, Jason snickered.

“What is it with you and him?” Rick’s gaze danced between the two men. “You two can’t be in the same room together without going for the jugular.”

“It has nothing to do with you.” Marc didn’t want to get into it and was desperate to stop the barrage of questions before they could start. “You concentrate on yourself and let me handle my own problems.”

Marc tracked Casey’s progress through the bar until he sat at a table with two of the hired hands from the Del Rio Ranch. As the foreman for the Del Rio Ranch, Casey was the direct counterpart of Marc’s position of the Circle R. The owners of the two ranches were close friends, and up until the previous year, so were Casey and Marc. It was amazing how one thing could cause friends to become bitter enemies, and it was nothing more than a misunderstanding.

“We lost him again.” Jason needed to wipe the smirk off his face.

“Knock it off.” Marc forced his attention away from Casey and back to Rick and Jason. “What were you asking?”

“Never mind.” Rick shook his head. “Since we have tomorrow off it can wait until Monday. No sense in talking ranch work if we don’t have to.”

“Sounds good to me.” Jason finished off the beer in front of him.

Marc swallowed the last of his own drink and headed towards the bar for the next round. Despite being the sole bar in town, it wasn’t busy and within a couple of minutes he was turning to head back to his table with three fresh beers. As he turned he felt his shoulder brush against a newcomer and turned to apologize, and found himself face to face with Casey. Had he realized Casey had the same idea he would have stayed in his seat and let one of the other two go.

I hope everyone has had a great week! If you ever miss what's happened in the news blog, you can always tune into the Weekly Wrap Up to find out what you missed. Don't forget, if you've read a story that you'd like to see featured in the blog, send me a PM. If you haven't already sent your story in, then you will need to include both Cia and me in the PM to pair you with a member of the proof team. This way, if it is received after I leave, Cia will be able to get you set up. Thanks!!!

Can the star quarterback come to terms with being gay and what that will mean for him in the years to come?

Max is a seventeen year old football player who has been struggling with his sexual identity. He has never had any true interest in girls but has dated them off and on to see if he can connect with any of them. Unfortunately,he has not found anyone that he connected with until Jason transferred to Max's school.

    A Chance At Love Excerpt:

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be the star athlete dating the head cheerleader? Well, it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be. I should know, I’m the starting quarterback for the El Paso High Tigers and I’ve been dating Chloe since the beginning of our junior year.

I guess I should probably introduce myself. My name is Max Thompson Jr. Every morning I get up and look in the mirror to see a guy with dark brown hair, light hazel eyes, and a set of six pack abs. My looks have gotten me many girlfriends in the past, but I just have not found anyone that I can connect with on a deeper level. I know as teenagers, we should be having fun. After all, you only live once… But I can’t help but feel there is something missing in all of my relationships, including my relationship with Chloe.

I know that every time one of my previous relationships ended, Chloe was always there. I was always hoping that she would be the one that I would be able to stick with. But I have come to the conclusion that I need to end things with her. I don’t want to hurt her any more than necessary, but I know it needs to be done.

Chloe would be anyone’s ideal girlfriend; she is about five foot seven with blond hair and blue eyes. Unfortunately, there isn’t that deep connection I’m looking for and I have decided that until I find the person that completes me, I’m not going to be dating anyone.

    HAPPY EASTER!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week. For those celebrating Easter, what are your plans for today? I'm hoping to go fishing for the first time this year! The Weekly Wrap Ups are a great time to take a look back and see what you may have missed this week in the GA New's Blog. We also tend to throw in a few reminders here and there. This reminder is that the CSR Discussion Day for Renee Stevens' (hehe, that's me) short stories will happen tomorrow, March 28th! Hope to see lots of you there!

Featured Story: Premium Stories - We started off the week by taking a look at some of the Premium stories that can be found on GA. We took a look at Barbed Wire Heart by Cole Matthews and Desolation Angels by layla. These are just two of the awesome stories that can be found in Premium, but there are so many more.

Author Promo: Cia - This week, Cia took me up the blog promo opportunity. She wanted to show her progression when it comes to her writing. To do this, she shared a variety of stories, ranging from when she first started writing on GA to the present.

Prompt Me! #486 & #487 - We added two brand new prompts again this week, but we also added AC Benus' new prompt series, the O.Henry Prompts. Curious as to what they are? Check out the blog post. For our featured prompt responses, I featured the prompt responses to Prompt #484.

Back in June 2015, my book No More Hiding was published by Dreamspinner Press. I realized that I'd never done my single blog post about the publication. Even if you read it in Premium, there are a couple extra scenes from that which is posted in Premium, plus this is your chance to have a copy for on your eBook reader. If you'd like to be able to have it on multiple platforms (epub, mobi, pdf, etc) then I'd suggest the Dreamspinner Press site.

Phillip Jorgensen tried to live the straight life and ended up divorced. But he wouldn’t trade his two kids, Jacob and Samantha, for the world. His ex-wife has kidnapped them and he's been searching for them for six long years. But he’s not giving up—never, not for anything. His twin brother has encouraged him to start living again, but how is he going to find romance with all his baggage?

When he meets Vance Pierce at the new gym, Phillip sees a chance to find some happiness.

Phillip has to explain the whole sordid mess to Vance and pray that he understands that he’ll never stop looking for his children. That’s easier said than done. Telling Vance might be risky. Is their connection strong enough to convince Vance to stay? Or will he think that Phillip is too damaged to love? This is Phillip's chance at the life he never thought he could have. But is it possible?

    Excerpt

Phillip was still trying to figure out where to start when Vance leaned forward, one hand resting on the driver’s headrest, and closed the distance between them. He paused, just inches away, but must have seen what he was looking for.

He pressed his lips to Phillip’s.

Phillip groaned. He wanted more and tried to turn in his seat to reach for Vance. But he growled in frustration as the damn steering wheel dug into his side and prevented him from moving closer.

The kiss was brief and left Phillip wanting more when Vance pulled back.

“I’ve wanted to do that since the day I met you.”

“Why didn’t you?” Phillip didn’t know what else to say. He’d thought about it, more than once, and wouldn’t have pushed Vance away.

Vance shrugged and moved back to his side of the truck. “Didn’t want to spook you. Something about you told me to proceed with caution. Nothing specific, just a lot of little things.”

    “Like what?”

“Mainly, you’d never really talk about yourself. I tried a couple of times to steer the conversation into more personal territory.” Vance stared out the front window. “You’d always change the subject or move on to the next machine, yet you were fine as long as it was just light flirting.” “Yeah, about that.” Phillip cleared his throat. “I’d like to give it a shot.” He glanced at Vance, surprised to see his pale eyes focused on him. “If you’re still interested.”

    Weekly Wrap Up
I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far, maybe even found some time to write. Just as a reminder, we have two great events coming up within the next month. If you're writing a Christmas story, maybe think about entering it in the 2015 Secret Santa Contest. If you're not writing a holiday story, there's still time to participate in Blackout, the 2015 Winter Anthology. Now, lets recap what happened in the blog this past week!

Monday we featured a story I personally love, Confounded by Andr0gene! The great response even prompted Andr0gene to post another chapter of it's sequel. If you haven't already read the review, why not check it out? It might even prompt you to take a gander at the story. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

There are a lot of grammar myths out there. On Tuesday, Cia provided us with a look at some common grammar myths that aren't necessarily true. Wonder if you've fallen prey to these grammar myths? Check out the post that Cia put together.

Friday brought us a couple of new prompts. We ran out of prompts and since Comicfan is having a few computer issues, I tried my own hand at the prompts. I hope everyone enjoys them. For the featured prompt, we took a look as CassieQ's latest prompt response.

Well, it's Friday again and since Comicfan is without a computer right now, and I'm out of prompts, I guess I'm just going to have to wing it. Since Thanksgiving is next week, I decided to do one prompt using it and one not (sorta). Hopefully you enjoy these prompts and if you do, don't forget to share it in the prompt forum.

    Prompt #462 - Creative
    Tag - List of Words
Use the following words in your prompt: Thanksgiving, turkey, dog, cornucopia, pilgrim

    Prompt #463 - Creative
    Tag - Noisy Party
Your neighbor is constantly having huge parties where the noise levels are unbearable. You've asked them before to keep it down, but they never seem to listen. This time, not only can you hear music coming through the wall, but the sounds of screaming. You decide this is it, it's time to call the cops. What do the cops find when they show up at the party?

    Weekly Wrap Up
It's hard to believe that it's almost November! This year has flown by so quickly and we're once again at the end of the week. I hope everyone has had a good weekend and now it's time to look back over the week. Before I do that, just a reminder that tomorrow is the CSR Discussion for the Halloween short stories. Speaking of Halloween, keep an eye out for a special Halloween post this coming Wednesday.

Monday brought us a review from Timothy M. of carringtonrj's story Presence. Based on the comments, quite a few members have added it to their reading lists. Have you?

Wednesday, we took a look back at the first Writing Tip from the rejuvenated blog. It was pointed out to me the irony of titling it "Blast from the Past" on October 21, 2015. Back to the future anyone?

Friday brought us two new prompts from the prompt guru Comicfan. Mikiesboy's response was the featured prompt for the week.

    Weekly Wrap Up
I hope everyone had a great week! I think today I'm going to get right into the Wrap Up for the week.

Monday and Wednesday were all about K.C. and his story "A Grim Fairytale", which just so happens to be this month's Signature Author Background. On Monday, Cia wrote a review for the story and then on Wednesday she interviewed KC. If you haven't already checked them out, they're sitting there waiting.

Friday brought us a couple of new prompts from the prompt guru Comicfan. This week he gave us a word list and another prompt having to do with a party. Comicfan featured two prompts this week, one from Dolores Esteban and one from Jamessavik.

    Weekly Wrap Up
Sorry for the lateness of today's wrap up. Since I'm running so late, let's get right to it today.

On Monday we had the CSR Discussion day for Becoming Real by AC Benus. AC also joined us on the blog for a live Q & A. There were some great questions asked. If you missed it, go see what readers had to ask and what AC had to say!

Wednesday was this month's Ask An Author feature. Dark had questions for Andrew Todd, Sasha Distan, and Headstall. It was a busy day for commenters! Curious as to what they were asked, and what their answers were? It's not too late to go check it out.

Thursday was a Special Anthology Announcement day where I announced the themes for the 2016 Anthologies as well as announcing a special anthology for next year.

We finished out the week with new prompts from the prompt guru, Comicfan. For the featured story, we featured one of last week's prompt responses by Puppilull.
