Well . . ., as they say, "This certainly makes the cheese more binding."
Will River survive the investment? I'm afraid I can only see sadness ahead for him. I hope he focuses on the good he has done for silver. That is where to true reward lies.
I hope he reads Richard Bach.
“If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they're yours; if they don't they never were.”
(Richard Bach author of 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull', b. 1936)
Wow. What a great story. And I'm sure all too close to reality for some. How unfortunate. He may be able to help him come back from it but it can only mean separation as silver will have to find another. There's is a doomed relationship even before it is started. His carer would only serve at some point to be the last vestiges that tie him to the abuse.
A sad thought. Then who will need the therapy! It sounds like Nikki already has him in line for some.
This is going to be a tough story. Beautiful, but tough.
A great chapter. Now you have me worried. Goes off in different directions? Ya, I hope I'm ready for it too. I'm ready for the next chapter right now.
I love how you have him opening up. It's like an onion skin effect. Layer upon layer he is finding himself again. Not all good I'm sure.
Somehow I think this is going to hurt.
Wow, a powerful chapter. But Now, I'm off to bed. A must. I hate it. But I will be back.
A great landmark chapter. Silver has made great strides.
back soon.
I KNOW I said just one more chapter before I go to bed, but . . . that was BEFORE I read this totally captivating story.
Damn woman! Have you no conscience? I NEED my sleep! You COULD have made it just a LITTLE less captivating, couldn't you?
A great story. I hope the love that results reaches beyond the affection shown that was tied to the abuse.
You do pick hard topics.
Who needs sleep. It's waaaay over rated. Off to the next.
damn. I'll just bet there is no sleep for me tonight. And I've got a whole week of work. A fantastic chapter as we see him step momentarily into life.
A beautiful story.
Like Duh? What was I expecting?
Just started this one Nephy. It sounds delightful. Can't wait to get to the next. Really angry at the moment because I started a great story and only have a little bit to read.
SHOULD have known better. You are awesome.

Well it's obvious that sex and peanut butter told Joel something and probably something he already knew. Let's see how he handles it. I really figured it was time for Mom to find out but you hinted in the beginning that she already knew as well.
Why didn't he tell Chris that he should pay a bit more attention to Mitch? He could say something like, "You could make sure that Mitch doesn't put me in detention until graduation or screw with my grades. I think your lack of happiness has made me his enemy for life. I think he may be a little jealous!"
That may have tipped Chris off to the fact that there is someone for him. Just a thought.
Well done chapter Cosmie.
Cheers,
John
Sir George! What a fantastic twist! Well done and I can't wait for the next. Have a working title for it yet?
I think that seeing your enemy prosper is in itself, a curse and Mann would have to be furious at George's success. And that would give him title and greater status so the rest of his family [Mann's] would also see that he was in greater favor with the King thus increasing his power and influence and diminishing theirs.
I will certainly be converting the HMS series to audio so that I can listen to it on my long drives. Especially since I have so much scheduled this month. And that way I can last until the new story shows up.
So well done Mark. Thanks.
A new classic has been born.

Great chapter. I thought it was really a great showcase of how they were SO proper that family could not talk freely about each other TOO each other. And too early to call on the PARENTS! My how times have changed. But it is a prime example of how detached parents were to their children and how some are yet today.
Just ship their little butts off to boarding school. But why then are we getting all these bills from a therapist?
Well Done Mark. I can't wait for the pomp and ceremony of delivering the ruby. I'll bet it is quite spectacular. was this an actual event from history? The ruby? Or a fabrication? I confess to not knowing history from the British perspective.
ok, now that I'm caught up. And ANOTHER cliff hanger. Ractchin frac'ngrapnel##^! (That's right, I've resorted to punctuation!) Damn, how will THIS one work out? And what about when his mom gets home. And shit, Joel is still missing, will he walk in to make the mix even better? Will he wait to find out that Chris isn't the one who did this? And will his mom walk in to find Tanner leaving little kisses on his face? So many ifs and so little time.
Damn, SO close! So close! Oh, you wrote the anxiety SO well. Cliff hangers! The only reason I'm not inventing some words right now that could express my sentiments adequately that would also pass the censors is there aren't any. That, and the fact that I missed a few weeks and I'm eager to get to the next chapter that I don't have to wait for.
Oh the delema! Mom's always seem to know. Wow though, Tanner even considering it! That's huge. But what if they decided that he needed to go to a boarding school. That possibility sucks. Another really well done chapter Cosmie.
Man, I hope this isn't where he finds out that he didn't "really" win the award. That someone had Mitch do their thing. Oh man, this can really suck. Nicely done as usual Cosmie. Cheers, r
Fantastic chapter Mark. As always, an adventure. And brooks? A newby and uncute? Now that is a change in your writing style. I think the presentation of the Ruby should prove to make Mann's demise a little more definite. And wait until Jervis get's wind of it. He'll lose his topsail! Now the big question, who will scramble to welcome George's endowment home first. I can't wait to find out. And I wish we had pictures of the faces at the admiralty when he told them he was granted the Collar of Carlos III! Wait until they read the details of waking up in the middle of the mixed fleet and managed to tell the tale. Especially after blasting the frog! Woo Hoo!
"Virgin Joy"? ! think I just found a new oxymoron for my list. Remember that this was my first story and I'm profoundly dyslexic. Since then I have been graced with an editor that keeps me out of trouble for the most part. I've worked out the pov issues since then too. I just never rewrote. Perhaps someday. I should issue a tissue warning with this one, there are some really tough spots. Beautiful, but tough. Thanks for the great review.
