Two points 1) Jitendras family coming into immense wealth like that means it will be pissedaway in a generation. 2) the analysis of the future work/money etc was interesting. Not sure much of it was right, but it made for fascinating reading and was obviously the product of an amazingly fertile imagination! Wonderful! Thanks for this. Very entertaining.

its been building to this. Hopefully clarity ensues, if they want it to....

You have certainly managed to draw some parents whose actions are/will be catastrophically self defeating. I know there are parents like that in real life, but still it amazes me. Do they think taking doors off a bedroom makes a bloke straight? Great story. I'd like to think his parents are caricatures, but I suspect not.

The Devil’s in the Details
Canuk commented on Altimexis's story chapter in The Devil’s in the Details
Wow! US justice amazes me more and more. "I have a friend whose a judge and I can get him pulled out of court because he will know its an emergency"! Why on earth would anyone trust a justice system than can be derailed by a mate having an "emergency"..... I love the idea of the US as leader of free world, but honestly they do make it hard for themselves! Love the writing, great story, may the good guys win.... 🙂 Thanks -
Isn't it disgusting what medieval versions of "family" and money can do...... Thanks, very fast paced. Good read.

The teachers concerned don't deserve to be teachers at all. Bursting into a room? Concerned about "sex on a school trip"? Where are these "adults" priorities? I sincerely hope none of this is based on experience. Even happy clapper teachers would, I hope, have more concern with their pupils. Not sure about Connor. Some serious issues there. From the evidence today, he's going to make a v high maintenance b/f. Just hope he is worth it. Thanks

Chapter 8: Truck beds and Lockdowns

Chapter 8: Truck beds and Lockdowns
Canuk commented on Demiurge's story chapter in Chapter 8: Truck beds and Lockdowns
I seriously don't get parents like that. "Your" children refers to where they came from, not possession. All you can do with children is love unconditionally, guide, pick up the pieces, and be there to listen. Fatherhood, on the face of it, frustrating. Imagine a process with almost no control over inputs, none on outputs, but where every problem if not your own was yours to fix? And yet it's the most rewarding experience. Excuse my random thoughts, lying here with Covid (yep, 2 years in, 3x vaxed, and I get it 🙄), gives one time for mental meanderings.....- 17 comments

13 Years Later – An Unexpected Phone Call
Canuk commented on Altimexis's story chapter in 13 Years Later – An Unexpected Phone Call
Good to see one aspect of flying in US hasn't changed: pizza is a meal in 1st class!!! Interesting update to their story. I hope there's some detail of the "break up", if only so jj and henry get to say " told you so" to Jeff ( yes I can be as small minded vindictive as the best!). On a sombre note the number of real and fictional people dying at 52 in 2022 is high.... I have passed that mile stone, so can look back at a lot of lives not lived. Very sad. Also, of course for their dependent survivors. But in this case "philanthropy" will come to the rescue! Thanks again. I enjoy consuming your talent! -
My very first thought! ( and not the "kidding" bit!) On a more sane subject...thank you for portraying Secretary Buttigiege as a serious Cabinet secretary rather than either a poster boy for gay rights, or universal nerd. In line with my previous comments, these tech billionaires are a worry. I know they are generally well meaning but getting so fixated on your business that you'd support Graham for the WH? They have lost sight from their uber advanced ceramic towers (ivory is after all largely illegal) that the stability they crave so they can keep doing what they do is largely dependent on a populace that feels there is something in it for them. Screwing with the voting system, instituting gerrymandering (by either side) will break the trust in the system and its institutions. At that point, as the Russian oligarchs are finding out now, all the money in the world won't help; no one turns out to help them. Thanks. Great chapter.

"Explore downtown Calgary".... there's 60 wasted minutes! 😂 I know some relationships move faster than others, but this one is in the (greased) lightening end of the spectrum! I can imagine the lesbian girl coming out did help the boys at least in their own heads. Always easier not to be first. Thanks, good read.

Hmm, fine, shred the fantasy why don't you! Being perfectly invisible surrounded by bold, beautiful AND naked blokes (yes, I would be invisible; even if they were all only a very little bold and beautiful, not one would look at me!) sounds like a very respectable fantasy.... no need to introduce any level of enlightenment!

Altimexis! well you were certainly right in your response to my "philanthropy" comment a few chapters ago!! This chapter is the greatest advertisement for the break up of the e-monopolies ever!! Of course now we have Ukraine and can see that the wests "use" of these very same e-monopolies could be a blessing, however as JJ himself says I just hope we never have to choose between democracy and the company! Great writing. Really engaging, even if my attention was very occasionally swayed by a room full of naked men.... (perhaps that was your intention: distract us with dick? bamboozle us with balls?). 🤣

Ozzie has every right to be bloody pissed. 1), he knows his husband and 2) he knows the "service" aka Jake. Anything happens and the contents of Fort Worth wouldn't satisfy Oz's anger. So looking foward to what's next! Thanks.

Horrifying end to a complicated story. The father's issues, his mother's coping mechanism, and Zach's mask and it consequences. All so unnecessary. But all to frequent in real life. Well written a with the happy ending that we all hoped for but in reality is all too rare. Thanks

Physically they certainly seem to have found their groove, so to speak. Now, can they mentally find someway to be grounded... Good read, even if I had to reread the last chapter to bring the story back to my conscious mind!

What Applazon is proposing could be done by US Postal service if the dead foot of Congress was removed. Added advanced would be preserving post offices in small towns while allowing those small towns to participate in online trading. A nude retreat. Interesting. Could be very interesting. As smart as jj is, that he has found a ceo that copes with his genius is even more amazing. Great read. Thanks

Great chapter, lots happening. I must admit as my two sons are now over 35, the scenes with their daughter just make me grateful its all behind me! One issue. And this is my own hobby horse. It's private philanthropy. I know people can run off a million things that have benefited human kind all due to private philanthropy. Then I see this " “Penn State? What made you give them money?” “Cody White. He’s an archeologist we met in Tulum. We bumped into each other at the gym, we mentioned we were touring the Mayan ruins that afternoon, and he offered to go with us.” " end quote. So this bloke gets funding for what may very well be a great project, because he met a bloke in a gym changing room. I firmly believe in both merit and the common good. Handing money to a project because a person with money meets a cute arsed bloke, with good teeth, flat abs and a smile, doesn't quite reach my criteria of how projects should be funded. Yes there's the "it's his money" argument. How did he get that money? Ignoring any illegality, this money was earned because they lived in a peaceful, well ordered, largely well maintained society where the rule of law is paramount and formal governance structures exist. These all cost our ancestors to build and develop and they cost us to maintain. If money is able to subvert all this and be dished out on the basis of people we meet in locker rooms, how long before the carefully built structures start crumbling? Rant over! Thanks.

The whole Scouts thing. Back in the day (ie a period that they now study as "history" that was when I was a Scout) the whole tone of a troop was what the leader wanted. And I recall at some "Jamboree" we couldn't believe how some were run like a military platoon. Young love, first hand job, blow job; so wonderful!

I am not sure how I would cope with my partner being shot. In fact, I do know... I wouldn't cope at all! Aside from that, carbon sequestration.... sigh.... I'd never heard of the dry-ice option, however it and all other options seem to me to be time bombs waiting to go off. I have always hoped we could work on the climate disaster by supercharging nature rather than subverting it.... but that's me, frankly anything that works has to be good. Again that Shapiro woman... if she was responsible for the shooting, she'll need a few of the fur coats she undoubted has when I bury her in one of those cubic kilometres of dry ice.... Great writing! Thanks
-
Shapiro is an amalgamation of quite a few usually male business leaders, usually in Neanderthal industries. Their combination of ridiculous amounts of money and ignorance is truly scary. Shapiro is unfortunately not a caricature. Great writing, interesting plot and characters.

Great beginning. Jazz is disappointing, but "fly me to the moon" is at the better end of disappointing. Love the effect of hormones.... glad hero Jake keeps his under a modicum of control. Looking forward to see how he manages this newly gay bloke. Not easy at all.....and in Calgary.
-
I am reading this as I truly want to see if true love can end up in Calgary. My two years there were not the greatest time of my life despite meeting a few interesting people..... so keen to see if our hero does meet with his forever lover, despite the location 😁

Obviously this is neither time nor place to discuss the ins and outs of tax policy, however JJ is in the position that he could buy the property himself (and presumably incur some sort of tax liability) or engineer a situation where a corporation buys it avoiding a liability. Its this ability of segments of society to be able to engineering such breaks that annoys me. Hopefully in his political career he will find some way of establishing a public good test to such policies. I wish him well!
-
Great chapter, and amazing that JJ is so good with media. It can be daunting Annoyed in the brief para on his purchase of a property he looked at buying it through a corporation "to reduce tax". Yes legitimate, but it's that attitude by billionaires that has the US where it is today. The sooner people with money know that it costs to live in a civilised society, and they benefit most from that society being civilised, therefore taxes need to be paid.
