Okay, I've ruminated. Loved the chapter. Poor Isidore. What a cheerful rehearsal dinner/ I don't see them as blooming adults. They are mostly adolescents. Adulthood starts when you move out of your parent's basement. The path to adulthood starts when you start college or a full time job after high school. Sociologists are greatly worried about the delays in maturing in young men. A male doesn't reach the level of maturity that a 17 year old had in 1940 until he is 25 or 26 today. This has become a huge issue for the U.S. military and for society writ large.

Who needs more sadness? Who needs more reality? How about a little hope?

Brad is all worried about Robbie fucking up things and then he hooks up with a complete stranger who could have easily been bought off by the mastermind of this plot against him. I've always been surprised the Crampton-Schluters don't have ski chalets and a desert home. The uber wealthy I know have the Deer Valley, Bachelor Gulch, Lake Tahoe, etc ski chalets and homes in Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage to go with the apartment in Manhattan and home in Hawaii. They need to stash Robbie someplace under lock and key.

It depends on what you mean by monogamy. If a couple is married 50 years and a partner strays once or twice, I'd still call that monogamy. I don't think open (polyamorous) relationships work that often. Approximately 60% of first time marriages stay intact.
