    Cheating

Thank you Mark for the start of the Travisty-palooza that us coming. This chapter lays open why I don't like the Will character very much. He is such a freaking hypocrite. Now I fully recognize that hypocrisy lays in all of us, but for me, with Will, it is glaring. He goes bat shit crazy when anyone delves into his life and choices, but he thinks it is okay to insert himself into Fab's and Marie's, even to the point of staking out to confront Fab. Many people speak of Will's strong moral compass and sense of right and wrong, but I think it is wrong to hook=up with someone you know is in a committed relationship. No, it isn't the other person's issue if they choose to cheat, it is your problem too if you enable the cheating. Then there was this, “Paolo told you it was okay to have sex with other guys. You have his permission. His blessing. So you are putting roadblocks up where there aren’t any.” Will cannot even understand that there are people who are 'one at a time' committers. It is a foreign concept to him that even though someone has 'permission' to cheat, they might not want to because they take the commitment more seriously than their horn dog partner. I think Wade is as close as we've come to that in this series. Travis and co-star sounds like a rebirth of Robbie and Carson. I know assholes from West Hollywood who loved picking up, fucking and fucking over guys they knew were in committed relationships. It was a game with them, a mission even, because they didn't believe men could or should keep their commitments.

    Back and Forth

Ummm, pretty sure since this chapter posted in 2014.......
  3. Ummm, guess you missed this? The Freshmen - 93. Final Chapter https://gayauthors.org/story/mark-arbour/the-freshmen/93
  4. Yes, yes, let's get this Travesty done as quickly as possible and get Granger back to sea blowing things up 🤣 Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

A Tidewater family would likely send their boys to Andover (Philips Academy) because 8 of George Washington's nephews/grand-nephews went there and Washington himself visited as President. Any of the Big Nine would acceptable (to some people), but Andover is the oldest, most prestigious and has an endowment that most universities would envy.

Riley getting fucked at Andover (maybe Phillips-Exeter), like so many boys before him. 🤣

You think like an East Coaster. If they are still together and commit to marriage, it would be at Escorial, possibly Santa Cruz or Maui.

Thanks Mark for an on-time delivery of the next chapter, I know how busy this time of year is. My thoughts are all over the place. I don't remember how long in CAP time is has been since Travis and Will became committed. Gap Year ended less than a year ago in CAP time, and almost two years ago in real time. What I cannot wrap my head around is how Will can supposedly be head over heels about Travis but still fuck around as if Travis doesn't exist. Carlo sounds like a European version of Preston. What happened to baseball player roommate?
  9. I was thinking what Chinese gay men do.

I would say that I am Ganymede to your Zeus This line makes me sad because so few schools teach classics any more, or Western Civ, as a core part of the curriculum. There was a time when there was general agreement on what an educated person ought to know.

    A Star is Born

Interesting start. Thanks Mark for not wasting any time in jumping into the new series. It should be an adventure. I wonder how old Travis' fellow cast members are. I always hated those "teen drama" where the principal actors are in their mid 20's. If Travis feels hetero pressure he can always let a co-star blow him. Blow jobs are pretty gender neutral.

    A Star is Born

    J'accuse! (see, I can do that too 🤣 )

    Final Chapter

I feel the future is going to be rocky because Will thinks monogamy is an outdated hetero-normative construct. Apparently The Gays didn't really want marriage, which is a bond for "no man to put asunder" and "forsaking all others". Will has no intention to do such a thing.... Casey told him it is okay to be a man whore 🤣 No one mentioned Juno, ju neau what I mean?

Remind me who Jeremy is 🤣

    Final Chapter

“The Rubios and the Ortegas,” I said. Okay, as a SoCal guy I am sorry, this sounds like a joint venture between Rubio's Fish Tacos and Ortega's chilies. It is like when I see someone in the movies, like Mr. Gower, and I know his name came from the street by Paramount Studios. So thank you Mark not just for the final chapter, but for the continuing saga of Chronicles of an Academic Predator. I hope you stay healthy and productive..... or at least program an AI to carry on your work. As to Preston... I kind of agree with Travis that he could be a threat, but if he is a threat then maybe Will and Travis aren't the eternal couple. How many people in the 2000's stay with their high school sweetheart? If it was 1950, sure, but it ain't 1950. Even Brad and Robbie broke up in college. Jack and Claire did not and look what happened. And I still want Alistair to fuck Will while they are at Harvard.....

How interesting would it be to have Granger be the one to convey Nappy to Saint Helena?

Wow, almost exactly one year since I last read this chapter. I'd forgotten how kind, generous and without guile Tallyrand is. Plus George gets some plonk in the deal too. If we can't send John Paul to 19th century France, perhaps Alex Granger's grandfather can find a case of Château Haut-Brion vintage 1801 in an ancient cellar that had been sealed off.

    The Price

You don't mention it, but surely since Granger is involved, the opera is going to see must be The Magic Flute.
  19. Happy Thanksgiving again Mark and thanks for the newest Granger. Have I ever told you how much I love Spain? The first time I went I think I was 11 or 12 and I expected Spaniards to look like Mexicans. I was shocked by the number of blonds with blue eyes. I also fell in love with Spanish food, especially tapas. I was already obsessed with the Sharpe and Hornblower series and familiar with all the battles in the Peninsular Campaign and Trafalgar so I started a love affair with Spain that has never ended. Please don't kill anyone I like. Re-reading Bridgemont over the last couple of months reminded me how many great people died. They can lose a leg like Freddie or an arm like Nelson, but that's it. I don't remember if I read of the deaths of powder monkeys and ships boys in Hornblower or other sources, but the idea of 9 and 10 year olds being killed just saddened me. The same is true of drummer boys in the armies of the day. I am looking forward to George in Spain, renewing old friendships.
  20. As if I peel potatoes 😮
  21. Happy Thanksgiving Mark and thanks for the newest chapter. With no WSJ today and no mail, I was desperate for things to read! Can I just say that Slater is my least favorite recurring character in the series even back to the B-rad days. "Juno" is someone we know.... a Dalby, Danfield, etc. The progression in surfing is amazing. One it was enough to just go down a wave and not fall off. Then you had to do a bottom turn and cutback. That progressed to floaters and the next logical step of an aerial. Aerials gave way Air 360s, but even those are so common now that 12 year olds are doing them. Hughie Vaughan was the first, but a few months from now 12 year olds will be doing flips too because they will obsessively work at completing one.
  22. Well I for one, am going to be a little sad when the cartel takes out Travis...... and Will is collateral damage 🤣 Thanks Mark for the newest twist and the continuing saga. I was going to object to drinking daiquiris on Maui as opposed to Mai Tais, until I remembered one of the best drinks I ever had was a pineapple daiquiri at the now gone Pineapple Hill restaurant in Kapalua. I really have no clue where the story is going, or even how many chapters are left, but it is a fun ride.

No, Will needs someone more like him. Travis is no more suited for Will than Calvert is for Granger.
