    Four days off!

I challenge anyone to a procrastination throwdown!!
  2. You get no thanks from me until you call me! ... ... *tries to maintain a straight face* ... Nah, it's all good. Like Vic and C James said, we rarely see the work you do at GA, only its results. To balance it with all the other myriad aspects of your life is outstanding. I won't say that you have more ability than most teenagers...I think any teenager is capable of great things...but what you *do* have is a drive and dedication to something that few of the adults here can match. Well done! Rob
  3. I'm glad that the State Supreme Court at least paid lip service to equality, though this isn't *full* legalization quite yet...the ruling basically mirrors that of Vermont a few years ago, allowing the legislature to decide whether to allow actual marriage (based on legal definitions) or civil unions. I never really doubted that the court would rule favorably towards gay equality, but I don't know that the legislature will be brave enough to take the next step. On one hand, the potential for people from across the country to marry in New Jersey and return home (since the state doesn't have a residence requirement for marriage) is exciting -- one can imagine the tumult that would result from gay couples challenging state laws upon returning home. However, I read an interesting article today about the potential for evangelicals and "family defense" interest groups to once more raise the spectre of the "gay agenda," and attempt to mobilize the conservative religious base to vote in two weeks. It's difficult to forecast. I only hope we avoid the irony of having this case, which could quite possibly be viewed as a monumental step towards true gay equality in twenty years, serve as a rallying cry to stymy the process in this year's elections. I shudder to think of what a continued conservative majority might do in reaction to this case if they can avoid accountability for another two years. Rob
  4. You'd make a great production editor for FoxNews, Nick. Perhaps someone with more time on their hands will be inspired to show the other side of the coin you've conveniently managed to ignore here. If you honestly believe that the Republican Party, taken at a glance as you've done here with the Democrats, are more "honest" and more committed to doing right by you as a person, then you're more naive than I would have ever thought. Call it cynicism if you'd like, but Lord Acton had it right: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." Rob

    Oh No!

But James, why spend the money to maintain the Hubble when it could eventually be used to send men to Mars? It's sooo expensive to do that, even the government knows it needs to start saving now! </sarcasm>

    Wisconsinites...

Even this adopted Minnesotan can see the inferiority complex inherent in this! But seriously, I've enjoyed the times I've been in Wisconsin. Especially since they're usually about a year apart...hehehe. I'll be back in late September. Tim, Kurt...hell, even you, Joey...are more than welcome to come hunt me down and kick my ass for this comment Rob

    The "other" kittens

Not so fast, Benny! I'll arm-rassle you for Tiger Girl.
  8. Awwww, thanks everyone!!! I was in Virginia for the last few days...will most likely blog about it...but this was something great to come home to! Rob
  9. So Luc, with all these kittens, you have enough to send one to all of us, right? Sort of like a GA gift basket. Kittens make me curl up in a little ball and squee, they're so cute...I MUST be gay
  10. It is, always has been, and always will be soda. Gotten into so many arguments with these crazy midwesterners and their "pop" obsession...pop only refers to really bad music. Rob
  11. Words are the most powerful tools we have for expression of human emotion...and yet sometimes they fail utterly. Everything I try to say here just feels so...empty. You're all in my thoughts, and I hope for the best for all of you, not only right now but for whatever tomorrow brings. Rob
  12. All the best, Chaz, Green, and David. You'll all be in my thoughts. Rob
  13. Aww...New Jersey isn't nearly so smoggy as L.A. Newark smells bad, I admit, but the rest of the state isn't quite so bad as that. It's mostly teh people's attitudes that make Jersey a pain in the ass. I grew up there. And I'm drunk, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Amazing I cna still kinda type. Rob
  14. Good luck to you both! Rob
  15. I want in the Underground. Rob

    bunny health update

Aww Val , you're not a bad bunny mama. Being a bad bunny mama would be allowing your husband to build an outdoor cage for your four-year-old son's bunny. When you live on a farm. With foxes. You're doing all you can do bring your bunny back to health...that's the best anyone can do. I remember the last time our cat Rocky got sick...my mother and I had to pin down a 30-pound cat and use a pill syringe to shoot meds down his throat. He was not pleased
  17. Not exactly a NEW member...I signed up last year...but I'm finally doing more than lurking. Rob
  18. Heee...Dessert Dropping...cookies on the floor... Sorry, couldn't help myself. And yes, Battlestar Galactica...each season has started while I've been on break at home, but when I get back to school I never have the time to watch (it's Friday night, c'mon SciFi! Don't impede my inebriation!). Every time I see it now, I have to consciously keep myself from watching it...because I'm enough of a nerd to NEED to see every episode in the right order and not miss anything. I was the same way about Babylon 5...and don't even get me started on Firefly... Rob
  19. Hey man, I grew up in Central Jersey...in fact, my id comes from an advertising campaign for the Devils in 1995 (you might remember hearing "Fire on Ice," if you're a hockey fan ) Anyway, my mother has been complaining mercilessly about how she's getting more snow this year than I am (I go to school in the Twin Cities)...she doesn't stop until I tell her about our nice little adventure with -45 degree windchills last month, hehe. Rob
  20. Hey Dom, Just finished reading DD35, and as I was concluding the chapter iTunes started playing a song by Mae called "Giving it Away," the acoustic version. The confluence of the two...just, wow. Takes a lot these days to make me go emo, but damn did this work. I highly recommend the song, and I'm continually impressed by the development of your writing. As much as I enjoyed TLW, it's remarkable to see the stylistic improvements. You are, quite simply, da man Take care, da man...can't wait for the next chapter, unless college kills me first. Rob
  21. One might think that isometric hand exercises were safe to do in the privacy of one's own residence, but...Spawn of Satan or not, anything with a kiddie involved is going to suck. What's the legal definition for trespassing, anyway? It's getting far too close to finals week for me, and I'm feeling vindictive...get that bastard and his little brother too! Glad everything (hopefully) worked out, man.
