  1. I agree. This was a powerful song. Sends a shiver right up my spine.
  2. Wish I could have voted for more than one! I lived in each (city, suburb, and country) for several years growing up. I live in the city now and I hate hate hate it! I prefer the country hands down and it's one of the main reasons I'm moving back home this summer. To be able to walk outside my door and not get run over by a million other people ...! I can't wait. 2 more months to go.
  3. This is great news! Thanks for sharing. From what little you've said, Dustin seems like quite the character! The world would have been a poorer place if we'd lost such a gem so early.
  4. Being gay or straight or somewhere in between isn't as important as imagination! And the willingness to put your inner self -- your work -- out there to reach others. Welcome! Looking forward to seeing this thriller of yours.
  5. Wow. This is an amazing and hopefully life-changing initiative. Young people are so focused on the now that it's so good to hear and see folks talk about the future. It's a voice of hope, and hope enables us to accomplish the impossible. I have so much respect for the people in those videos and to the folks who put this project together. Wow.
  6. Oh jeez. Brown recluses deal some nasty damage! Thank goodness Dustin is awake, that's a very good sign. My prayers to him and his family that he is able to fully recover. Poor little dude! This must be pretty scary.

Me, too! Wow. I don't think I'll hear that song again without really listening to it.
  8. Remember that they're not so much men as boys, and they're just starting to recognize the love they have for each other, so what makes sense to us older folks isn't necessarily what's important to them. You're welcome for your fix And thanks. Like Nephy said, sometimes Kynan is hard to like, but this is one of my favorite scenes with him.
  9. My lips are sealed about Kynan's rescue. As far as the timeline goes, this is one of those clues ... This scene with Alan & Kynan comes after the scene with Duncan and the others, so after Alan almost died. And, yes, Duncan's a little thick-headed.
  10. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 16: Young Love In the dreamscape, Kynan stiffened. "What?" His mind raced trying to figure out what Alan was about to ask. What secrets would he be forced to reveal? And could he do it? Could he really overcome the behaviors he’d learned just to survive in the demon’s world? Alan’s eyes and voice were solemn: "What's your favorite color?" That surprised a laugh out of the demon. "What do you want to know that for?" "Why not? I told you that I want

  12. Cargo pants are awesome, but they only rock if they have 9 or more useable pockets. What's in my pockets depends on where I am. Lately, at school I carry in my pockets my room keys, my flash drive, my wireless mouse, chapstick, at least one rubber band, paper clips, about 5 assorted pens/pencils/whiteboard markers, an eraser, a small pad of paper, and a handkerchief. I am notorious for misplacing my pens/markers, so I always carry a ton. I've been considering making or purchasing some kind of tool kit to hold all this junk, but ... jeez ... I'm a geeky enough teacher without, yanno? At least I don't have pocket protectors! LOL

    Chapter 4

hehe, I'm glad you're liking it! Their relationship is complex and can be challenging to write. I have so many drafts but no finished versions... sigh. I need more hours in the day. LOL.

    Chapter 3

You don't think who has what? and I think you're talking about: "Prayers fell like song from Mordred's lips..." Looking back on it, it is rather poetic, isn't it? I'm not much of a zombie fan, but I do think these ones came out rather well.
  16. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 15: The Dream After Far away in the city, at the Cathedral for evening prayers, something strange happened to Duncan. The hundreds of candles in their display flashed so brilliantly that an up flung hand did little to shield him from the afterglow. He shook his head, blinking quickly, but everything he saw was washed out and overwhelmed by the bright white light. "Hello?" Was this some other trick by the elemental? What was happening? The priests to eith
  17. Haven't you ever had a wet dream? This takes place at the end of the last chapter. We're seeing what happened now from Bryce and Jacen's POV.
  18. Kinky enough for you? I remember sending the first draft of that passage to Alan's creator and him telling me he couldn't believe I'd never written smut before! Fun times. And see? Alan's not so easily dissuaded. I think you're reading these two just right, so I'm glad. It makes me happy to know I've written their relationship adequately.
  19. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 14: Let it be a Nightmare With Alan safely unconscious and back to himself again, Kynan dropped out of the dreamscape. He felt unusually tired, his muscles ached dreadfully, and his head was pounding. He wanted to stay curled up under the bed and bawl, but he forced himself to move. He needed to get cleaned up. Scrambling out from under the suddenly too-confining bed cost Kynan some more skin and bruises, but standing again was a great relief. He rolled his sh
  20. Devastated? Perhaps. Guess we'll see!
  21. Thanks for the reply. Glad to know I've hooked another reader.
  22. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 13: Dream Love Within a few steps, Kynan was out of Alan's dream and back into the shadow-city of his dreamscape. He slowed to a walk. What was I thinking? He lost track of where he was wandering, his mind thrown into turmoil, and sat down on some steps in the dream city to bury his head in his arms and try to get control of himself again. His mind wanted to insist that the reason his hands shook or he couldn't catch his breath was because he was reacting t
  23. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 12: Touring the Catacombs The city's founders painstakingly carved out the catacombs when they built the city. Thirty years later when it burned down, they expanded those catacombs further and deeper than before. They also added canals to pull water from upstream into new wells and fountains, then to drain back into the river downstream of the city. Over time, the city spread out to stretch from the northernmost bend in the river to the southernmost. Underneat
  24. The subplots are driven by the characters' backstories, which are slowly becoming clear. I'll post regularly again just as soon as I can, I promise! It's not teasing when you put out at the end.
  25. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 11: Putting Together a Plan "Kynan!" Alan sat up abruptly, gasping, but he was no longer dreaming. He touched himself tentatively, just to be sure, staring at his callused hands with their broken nails, and the one black thumbnail that was waiting to fall off. Yup. Awake. He wore the clothes he'd changed to after arriving back home, and his senses told him the time was well after dark. "Ah!" Startled, he pressed himself backwards. What the? Where was he? "Br
