What may be a major red herring is assuming that the murders are connected and committed by the same murderer; they are connected by that location indeed but are there direct ties in motivation to the same person; or could we have two people trying to protect another, and did they protect a good person? I’m not so sure Colt is headed so quickly down that fast straight track. He picks up his girl but it mostly seems as if it is she that is making the most physical contact and effort; what teenage boy is that reserved to not be following instincts to likewise avoid blue balls? Girls want that petting, kissing, and gentle strokes….meanwhile, the young man is redlined with his little red needle showing danger, rapture imminent; only to have his hands slapped away just as a slide to home plate seemed possible. Camping overnight, and his girl left without even a plea to stay from Colt… Hmmm 🤔.it’s possible Colt is not that interested or that his release valve popped before the game plan came together. Or, it could be that Colt is doing what is expected, but doesn’t even realize it would be more intense if he had that connection.

Joel may have indirectly let some of the air out of that party balloon 🎈; although Jonny may have thought he was breathing helium.

Some progress in interactions tonight. Colt is talking a little more direct at times and Joel even thought out loud, and even commented during the conversation on the log. Overall the guys are taking Joel’s altercation in a fair light. Despite Colt saying to leave Joel alone when prodding about switching schools, I didn’t get the impression that Colt was saying that maliciously. Surprisingly, the question about the gun got dismissed much more quickly than I expected; like where did you get a gun? Where is it now? What kind of gun were you waving around? And the big question…why did you have a gun?

The ultimatums do backfire from time to time. It wasn’t about sexuality but more of implied financial risk around a dear friend of junior high through high school and into college. My trust in my friend didn’t extend to him from my dad; quite the opposite. Dad gave an ultimatum and demanded my keys to a newer car he was helping me to upgrade to. While it was his intent to show control and then have me agree to his demands, that’s not what happened. I immediately left in my older car and stayed with the friend the last few days before returning to college. While dad was working one day I dropped by to pack up my belongings from my summer back home. We didn’t speak again until near the end of the term. He asked me to come home during break but I said I couldn’t as I had to work more to make ends meet; so I stayed at school. During the break mom and dad drove up separately to deliver the my newer (less old) car and the keys. He said it was rightfully mine but he would still help me keep it by having the insurance under his policy and discounts. i told him if it’s mine then I decide where and how I use it and to whom I trust with keys or use. He just nodded in agreement and said that was my decision and it will be your responsibility. So sometimes the hardline ultimatum results in the opposite reaction and the end result is that a certain level of trust may have been forever lost or it will forever comes with more reserved scrutiny. 🧐 Kids have to learn to be adults, and adults have to learn to let them.
