    Chapter 34

Tim the tool man neighbor, never fully disclosed, sage advice but only supporting role, and then never the focus of the story…, Zack.
  2. Kent willingly jump to protect Randy, so while guilt plays into it, I hope they can both go forward knowing they would be willing to sacrifice to protect life…especially for each other. No doubts that the heavy bleeding and gapping wound had Randy looking death in the face; that does make you realize just how fragile and fleeting life can be. Having been a part of rescuing crash victims from multiple crashes during my career, and not as a first responder but as a witness, it does affect the psyche. One fatality was amazingly able to walk away from a burning aircraft with only strains and bruises. While another accident left a fellow pilot so broken that even the CPR seemed to create wave motions throughout the torso that otherwise would have offered more localized rebounds. It’s tough knowing that the likelihood is…that life has permanently left this person, this friend, this individual you had just talked to minutes before. Then add to this emotional trauma with seeing this happening to someone even more special; 😢 😔 😢

    Chapter 3

Then again, there is that since of needing to show appreciation for the coursework Philip readily admits is beyond him but the Lab Partner is pulling him through. So while I think there’s some interest, which came first the chicken or the egg. Did that appreciation open Philip’s feelings or did they just happen; either way, I think they are developing into something more and hopefully something healthy and positive.

I would like to collect that…tonight??
  5. Hopefully the yahoo will continue into the mouth of the lion awaiting him in London. Perhaps in his surprised state of mind and his haste to get away he didn’t think the new owners to be so diversified and global.
  6. There has to be more than two obelisk erected around that bay; good thing the old navigational markers are no longer used, that WOOD be confusing and gauntlet of towering obstacles. One would have the keep that spy glass very handy.
  7. Brock and the former KYS employee that authorized the cruises need a cruise to a deserted island…adventure of a life time.

    Chapter 34

Yes, sometimes child protective services require separate rooms, but that may also be for adoption. Yet the group homes they pile the children in or community housing with a couple or even more per room. In the case with existing children in the house separate rooms can be an isolation for the child where they need and want acceptance. Yet, if the existing children are bullying types it’s not favorable. That’s why follow-up placement interviews are important. Likewise, the kids need to understand the parents enough to have a safe place to speak freely…AND THE PARENTS NEEDS TO LISTEN, NOT JUDGE, NOT THINK WORDS MEAN CHANGED BEHAVIOR. They need to work at getting the balance right. Even like animals don’t accept new critters into the flock, herd, etc. without a proper introduction and monitoring period. Don’t tolerate the bad behavior.

    Chapter 34

I love the synopsis and the emotions you captured in this comment; both the story and the often ignored or inconvenient realities of orphans, both 2 and 4 legged. 😢

But the first few rides on the Harley may make that questionable too.

Is that a play on the LONG road home sidekick?

    Chapter 15

Yes, the relationship Troy has seems more of comfort for Troy and somewhat a resignation to the persistence of his soon to be roommate/partner. But even should they separate I could not see Troy ever being able to trust Miles as anything other than …a part of his past life. Yes, the swirling and chaotic body paint in Troy farewell Miles portrait is the epitome of Miles’ finale as a true family member, partner, and lover; departed in and creating chaos for all associated. Trashed, dismissed, and forgotten for all practical purposes as they would see and understand it. So to have him return would just be…sad, frustratingly so. No words could make a rational person accept his word, pledge, and presence as anything trustworthy or enduring.

    Chapter 15

Birds of a feather…or cats of a tree?… Miles taking in the cat, that was a humanitarian rescue, is hardly a vote for his social decisions; but I can appreciate and be thankful for the momma cat burial. At least Mikes did admit his personal regrets and acknowledges having thrown away the best life he ever had. But even then he still hasn’t done anything to acknowledge or at least try to safe his brotherly relationship with Troy and family; barely staying in touch with Erik and putting the burden of semi-silence of him again as only speak of me if Troy asks. How arrogant and selfish. He could at least say it himself, with or without regrets, but re-integrate with the family enough to have conversations with that only true family you ever had until Robbie’s befriending. More than a decade and Miles doesn’t have the guts to speak or even try to speak for himself. Nope, still not a fan of the post Troy, Miles. He’s not outgrown his teenaged mentality of selfishness and/or not having trust in the ones that loved you and that you chose the flat out abandon. The massive time jumps without any or very little personal growth from Miles, and with only a scant interaction to tie these lives together, leaves me feeling as though the story diverged further and is beyond realistic and enduring relationships. The character development of years ago no longer applies, yet the timeline doesn’t develop it a whole lot here; this is mostly about Miles’ interests and hobbies but doesn’t tell us about what makes Miles who and what he is now. Miles hasn’t shared with them nor us who Miles is and why he is dragging his issues for decades.

She is so dominant as Bitch-face Brooke, I could see her pegging Crotch-Itch Casey.

    Chapter 33

Hmmm 🤔, it could be said that Brooke is just a metaphor for teen girls with unrequited crushes; that’s personal to them, even if it gets labeled…stalker-ish. 😆 My experience with girls in the final years of high school was so frustrating. I’d make clear we were not dating, just friends, but the very next day someone would confirm she had told them just the night before…after I confirmed not boyfriend, not dating…that she had announced again that we were dating and steady boyfriend/girlfriend.

    Beyond the Wire

That will definitely leave a mark, but hopefully it gets a quick compress and some clotting to stem that blood flow.

    Chapter 33

Yup, even shiny and pretty knives can be rather dull until patience and intelligence hones that baby to be cutting edge it is capable of being; Casey has neither as the Thompsony environment is most void of finer patience and intelligence being married for a precision honing process.

    Chapter 33

It seems to me that Officer Shane hearing rumors that Casey was the one near the Commodore before burned but hours after wrecked may be an indication of Casey losing control of his own posse. His obsession with Levi and the barbs starting up again may be the indication of that split within the Casey crew. It seems Casey may be in uncharted waters but will that lead to Casey acting alone and more unpredictably? As the Thompsun shines with his arrogant intelligence. Officer Shane’s approach with Levi may be trying to gain trust to get to the real root of the community problem while still knowing a little more about Levi’s adventures that night than let on. I tend to think he is approaching this the way a savvy former street smart kid would; get the whole picture and identify the real problem. Having been manipulated and bartered himself, he knows not all actions by kids are made freely. Having foster parents and having lived with the questionable stability of a new life thrust upon you and trying to fit in is a familiar experience; I don’t think it’s lost when he sees Levi. Officer Shane is being humbly quiet 🤫 and smartly observant until the right answer speaks out to him.
  23. With every breath that background wish is for a safe day. Hopefully this trip beyond the wire will be routine…as in no engagement or at least a minimum engagement with no casualties amongst the friends and friendliest. Kent, and Ken, have found their own comforts in this new reality. Now knowing that about the other is added comfort for them both. Likewise, learning the unvarnished truth of Kent’s daily life and those close to him is a part of that comfort too. Randy is still amazingly aware and compassionate about all the sentiments of Kent’s life; what a great friend and fellow soldier to serve beside…and to know that he is by your side.

    A Familiar Voice

Back when I was deployed out herding dinosaurs around the world, those calls were very limited but much appreciated, as the costs otherwise was very, very expensive…several dollars per minute. So the conversations where sparse and rushed when they happened. The good side of all that was it was limited more to hearing familiar voices and only most important news..and maybe notice of what care packages to look forward too. But I did have to comfort some younger troops that hadn’t lived away from home and family before the military; it was tougher on them. Whereas I had been away from home for years before finishing college and going active duty.
  25. Yeah, figuring out all the science involved: that rim around the head keeps your hand from slipping off, And that nerd that didn’t put his homework away before shooting, but then patented it when discovering the great holding power…named it after himself too, Elmer’s Glue.
