Child Protective Services like to paint themselves as the white knights riding in the same the poor children. Yet, the abuse Caleb had there was unmonitored and couldn’t be proven with lack of blood or bruises; yet, inflicted under their noses by a long term resident to their “most excellent “ contracted low cost care provider. Where an inspection of their facility would check more of the paperwork appearance than the actual physical and mental state of their captives…ahem, children awaiting forever homes…with application standards higher than they provide themselves. Been a volunteer mentor to see the underbelly of that beast…once the children are pulled from their bad home environment, they just become a website listing for an application process that has no real benchmarks to success or failure rates. So the contractor provided facilities and care just become another occupancy requirement for better contract awards. i had contact with a 10 year old boy that was in limbo while parents were trying but failing to prove they could provide a safe home environment. The kid had craved “Jack” on the inside of his forearm…I was able to get him to tell me that he didn’t want to be Ricky any more, Jack would be wanted more. No one from the home had noticed his craving, no one had applied ointments, no one had called a caseworker, then I was asked why I was having inappropriate contact as he was not my mentee. On contact was on the common room of the house of which I was signed in at. Ricky looked to my mentee as a big brother type relationship, so he knew me by association. They hide behind bureaucracy to distance anyone or anything that paints things in a bad light for them. My point being that though Caleb is a chronic lier, there was interview evidence that Killian was able to get saying that the oldest and longest stay resident knew how to play the system to bully the boys without repercussions and any validation from the staff…no blood, no bruising…nothing to be seen here; simple paperwork, done.

The lessons stick, until the next case..assuming he doesn’t have lingering issues on this one. Why did the aunt lie and the mother try to run so quickly? Hopefully Micah gets the story ultimately. The editor will hopefully insist on Killian’s interview…of which he should withhold for the exclusive with Micah as promised. As cyber bullying rules are changing around the US, and the world, I imagine the text is a rather risky and stupid move for Timmy, but likewise his language also shows itself as a targeted hate crime. So adding the fact that he is sending this to multiple people and seemingly consistent with the same hate language, Then taking the verbage of “we’re watching you” along with the picture of the boys enjoying a day out, we have documented stalking with intent to do harm. Timmy is digging himself deeper and deeper into trouble. Yes, Me thinks, Timmy Doth Protest too Much…there is definitely something more to this behavior, whether it’s his own history or the history of someone whom was close to Timmy, or pure jealousy, his behavior is rather desperate; making it dangerous and unpredictable.

I imagine Todd would probably bow to any interest Nelson might suggest; even if it’s with his eyes being teased by teen play…voyeur Todd, boldly wanting A Man to go Where No Man has Gone Before. Perhaps he’s found his calling. 🤷‍♂️

Ironically ML’s misunderstanding that she can’t get more pregnant is more of her irrational hormonally teen logic. Women have indeed been known to ovulate, and then you have twins of different fathers yet apparently of different inception dates; most obvious is when the kids are of a different race. So even the possibility that Elaine thinks there is nothing more that Nelson can do as ML is already pregnant; it’s not sound logic and flawed by evidence otherwise; though more rare, DNA and/or more non-traditional interracial relations bring the fallacies forward to be FACT-CHECKED BY BABIES 👶.

What a good time to speak up and to show your appreciation. I too used to hardly ever make a comment myself, but I find comfort in the little community that interacts more freely. I find we commenters usually tend to like and comment on many of the same type stories; so it almost seems like a book club that mostly stays on topic but occasionally has life experiences begging to be shared. I’m glad to see you’re enjoying the stories that I have been enjoying too and hope to start seeing more comments of your thoughts on characters, and speculations and what’s fuel it or what’s to come; It can be exciting and refreshing to share with others as the authors tease and twist the storyline to end up where or how you didn’t quite expect. But many of the authors love the comments as it gives them feedback as to how their storylines come across, to give it the meaning they hoped to convey…alone with your appreciation. I hope you continue to enjoy the stories and comment more freely now; welcome.

Ed is a very curious and interesting case. With a history of severe bullying, if our introduction to Claude is to be the benchmark, it’s no wonder that Ed. Outdoor reach a snapping point. I’m not sure if that rage is compartmentalized strictly as self defense against Claude, or if he has no conscience for humanity. Why the adults, parents, teachers, anyone witnessing abuse, could not see or did not take action is beyond me. Even the bus driver knew better but let the 14yo buffalo his way upon the bus in pursuit of his apparently favorite victim. All these people help fortify a chain of violent and abusive behavior from Claude; irregardless of Claude being a foster kid or from a group home or living with a single parent, parental/guardian oversight was habitually lacking. Supposing; even if Claude was already in a treatment program, with a psychiatrist, the sessions and treatment failed these boys. If known to be a risk of bodily harm to himself or others that should have been identified and reported so he could have been treated in a facility, away from doing such bodily harm. Instead, Claude had not only the monster growing within himself, but the one he cultivated within Ed; that one broke free to end the torturous threat.

Ahhh yes, it’s true love that Caleb had for Asher…the type love that says, we’ll get rid of him. Not exactly the definition of undying love. Caleb has been tortured since childhood. He hasn’t the values of a loving human; and may never understand what was robbed of him. Unfortunately the mind is not an organ that can be tested for malignancy, therefore, how could you ever trust Caleb in treatment when his objective would be to lie his way towards whatever objective he wanted at the moment? A sad testament to man, that Caleb should have ever been subjected to such nature. Though not of his making or choosing, the burden of responsibility now rests with him.

Yes, even though Asher has been less than civil many times with Killian, I hope he comes out unharmed and all the wiser. His hesitancey to trust Killian even as he has reasons to distrust Caleb is a sign of lingering resentment in my mind, yet he asks of Killian to investigate murder…one of the very things that he blames for tearing them apart; asking for Killian’s help not once but twice, yet still remaining belligerent towards Killian.

Though Kevin Bacon was frustrated that he couldn’t do some of the more challenging dance moves, he was actually able to do a fair part himself; he was known for be a pretty good dancer 🕺🏻 himself. Yes, the ups and downs of dorm life. Jonah speaking Jonese has Danny wondering where and how he fit in; with timidity he did the right thing and questioned Nicky for…The Rest of the Story. Unfortunately Noah doesn’t realize the pain of seeing him causes, as Nicky probably has visions of Noah’s withdrawal just before he experiences an emotional withdrawal into himself; so Noah, write a letter and quit try to get Nicky to help you feel better about yourself. Regardless Noah’s logic, he made choices without Nicky, so he needs to deal with them…without Nick. Jack gets his invitation that otherwise says a get out of jail free card, as the school with Nick would just be his parent’s designated holding cell. Poor Jack, patiently waiting for Nick to show more intimate affection…while he himself has been starved of any. As quiet and withdrawn as Jack is with others, Nicky’s mom steps right into the role of a trusted adult. Hmmm 🤔, Jack’s acceptance of her as part of Nicky seems to be grasping onto his forever family …the one he chooses. Between mom and especially Jack, we finally have Nick listening to his heart again; don’t worry Nicky, Jack is real, perhaps a few scrapes, scratches, and bruises, but very real. That pros/cons list is probably driven by: 1) wanting to play baseball, his escape, and 2) to hopefully get a new scholarship or the old one confirmed for the new school. The rest is probably just a case of bad vs worst, as opposed to pros vs cons, at least in Joel’s mind. He thinks it’s inevitable that old will out him beyond family (thanks Westley Worm), and then spread like a virus (Jonny) carried in the wind.

I can understand why and how he feels the way he does. I was betrayed by my college roommate. He didn’t even trying talking to me, but he outed me and my friend to his friends and our neighbors. That started car vandalism and vulgar writings with oil, vaseline, paint, etc. My friend and I found us a duplex apartment with more limited neighbor exposure. Friendship, maturity, and betrayal is a fickled thing at that age, especially back when it wasn’t talked about and definitely not accepted openly. But even today, friendships can take unexpected turns as perceptions are preconceived, and the friend has their own reasons for paranoia.

Well, Colt was impressed with Joel’s ability to protect himself…perhaps Trace was too. Celia was less impressed and wanted Joel to talk; but not even digging that peroxide Q-tip into the wound could bring out the frustrating truth. Joel seems to be hiding and dreading his truth, but Trace is giving him encouragement to come out with it; that’s a pretty big sign saying that Celia has your back…just trust her. This after fight chapter took me back to my high school days. It was the early 70s with riots at least weekly occasions at the time. Procedurally teachers closed and lock doors at the first signs, but that often left some of us locked out in the hallways before the rumble of the riots reached the actual physical presence of the riots; it was an older raise structure with good old wooden floor joist that carried resonant frequencies of stomping or running. If locked out and the riot come upon your location, best to back against the hall and defend your position as otherwise the mob would knock you down and kick you repeatedly. So the evening after a riot cordoned off many to be suspended (first flaw in thinking), I sat guiltily waiting for dad to finish his weekly report so I could inform him of the suspension and the instructions to not call us we’ll call you (second flaw in thinking)… So dad finished then finally asked what I wanted to tell him. Well…tap dance around…until he asked did I get hit? Huh 🤔? Only indirectly… Was the other person hurt? Dad, it was a fast paced riot, no one was standing around fighting one on one. Well did you see the guy that you bruised your knuckles on? Huh 🤔…hey it’s an expected teenage response. Well, I did remember one guy’s eyes getting bigger right after I connected and there was blood 🩸 around his left cheekbone and eyebrow. Hmmm 🤔, so you’re suspended (as parents had heard of these new policies for trying to control riots)? Yes, sir. Ok, want to travel with me for work next week? …yes. So I know the feeling of do you disclose freely or let them ask. How much do they already know and just want you to come clean? 😗 Meanwhile, Joel is trying to get back within his old head, dealing with distrust after being outed in the first step of his family's betrayal. Next weekend I hope Cody comes over, setting the stage for the more comfortable and loving big brother to show up too. Perhaps building the bridge of trust might make quicker progress.

What concerns me is as the PIs put it before; assume nothing, yet I don’t remember anyone giving positive evidence that Ira Cohen is dead. The axe murder and the satisfaction of the job done is more along the lines of Ira’s violent and abusive behavior. Likewise, with the blackmailing and intimidation, I wonder if it wasn’t just coincident opportunities to pay off debts Ira had accumulated himself. Could the body be that of a debt collector, and Ira intentionally mutilated the head/face to facilitate his own disappearance? Could it be that there is a witness to Ira leaving the property already aflame? Would this explain the fear from Caleb’s mother, aunt, even the neighbors? Ira is a very violent man, the words/thoughts of the axe murderer are troubling as the profile of Ira would be the same. Who would dare cross a violent man that no one would suspect, as he is dead now, or is he a living ghost hiding behind a corpse? If I’m not remembering correctly I apologize, but I’m not trying to pitch red herrings that didn’t come from this stream..
