  1. the organic resources were not what humans were after, but the inorganic ones... besides the entire planet, every animal on it, and every plant wants humans not there they would have to napalm them to get rid of it.... And sure put them in Human schools sell them booze and have them build casinos... cuz that worked SOooo well for the American Indians.... lol. You can't really civilize a people that doesn't really want what you are selling, all you do is destroy their Civilization...and generations of their people, all because yours in your advanced civilized arrogance is better.... right? anyway... who wants to move Kepler-186f? i hear it's quite nice this time of year.... Although circling around a red dwarf, it might be a bit frozen by the time we actually get the technology to travel to it.
  2. ...i don't think sometimes is the word... there are many times that it might be pumped directly, by the way did i ever tell you the water 25 miles south of me tastes like mud, it's also pumped from a man made lake that people fish in and camp around.
  3. fish pooh, animal pooh, bird Pooh, (yes i realize all of the three are classified as animals) dead animals, dead fish, plants matter, including dead leaves from those trees over there, that's all safe and good.... but by god a human peeing in the reservoir now for that we need to drain the entire thing and send it into the ocean... and the people in every state that doesn't that kind of rain are looking at the people in Portland as if they both lost their mind and in other less safe ways....
  4. yesh we take a nuclear bomb, and drill a really long hole into the core then set it off, that'll ignite mar's core right?
  5. yes and we know what will happen after the ship goes to earth.... then comes back... except it won't just be one but a good dozen of them and they'll be armed with things like napalm... scorched earth... or in this case Scorched Pandora. There won't be enough living creatures to mount a resistance when it's done.... Because that is what would then happen... no company is just going to write that much of a loss off and no government is going to allow themselves to be embarressed by loosing to a society equatable to Stone age people verses modern...

    Chapter 1

    thank you
  7. I am human, and i consider my species to be barbaric and backwards in many cases... And I don't mean the actions of a termed "more primitive' Society then what the west considers it, but people within my own country. it's really to me an individual by individual basis to me... although you could go with Doc Macoy's statements from Star Trek, The voyage Home lol. To me, on a society level, humans are at the levels of a Teenager. Not listening to your elders or the authority of the past (specifically those they held in authority), living only for the now. I can see several corralations between modern human society and a human teenager. actually greed, the accumulation of wealth and so on, are things that give humans something to work towards, to fight for, on an individual personal level, just as the accumulation of power can be. Without Greed or the accumilation of wealth many people and indeed most people in one form or another, would not have a reason to live, or work day in and out... especially for someone they dislike, or with people they dislike.
  8. http://news.yahoo.com/huge-big-boy-steam-locomotive-coming-back-life-073258235.html I like trains, old things and their restoration, so thought i'd share.
  9. i think all we have to do is look how we depict other alien species to see the possible worst case scenario on how we would act as a space fairing race.... Combine the Romulans with the Farengi and with some alien bug that swarms planets and you probably have it about right. just based on our past exploits for instance, and the horror for any less developed species for they may suffer the fate of the Native Americans, Aboriginies, or Africans. in the end it all depends on how our leaders, economic, political or otherwise deal with space and the possiblity of other species when we get to it... and truth be told it might vary greatly on each individual basis.
  10. this is why you go to the public library and borrow a book instead of buying it
  11. you realize Elizabeth Lynn has a book by the same title?
  12. i didn't like the movie... or more specifically how the movie ended. congrates you won the game, oh by the way it wasn't really a game you just anialated an entire species... but in consolation you made us "feel" safe...
  13. not much no.
  14. yeah, i wouldn't buy used underwear either.... and probably not used socks... (which they sell both at the second hand store here)
  15. lol no, i've never had that experience.... mostly because i don't think that any posts i write are especially clever
  16. and when our resources run out here, or be become too populated to sustain ourselves on this planet? (to which the second is already happening)
  17. see something like that video except not so much as a thing you can move through the galaxy with clicking on solarsystems with found planets and theories on them (something like you might have seen on say the last episode/s of STNG where data was showing how things changed if you blew up suns and how it changed the path of the uber space aurora...I think we could do something like that... maybe not in 3-d but on a computer program or site yeah)
  18. *pokes you and likes you* lol.
  19. well from what i've seen the work place can be quite hectic, especially in the case of say a newspaper... deadlines are short... and much work is usually done at the last minute.... as in a few hours before it goes to press... there have been times that the writing and editing staff has sat up half the night to get something finished in time for the printers... (who also have been known to spend half the night on a job) And certianly more than a school when you are given work and allowed some semblence of time to complete it and complete it well. A boss wants you to hop to get it done five minutes ago and not just done but done in some semblence of quality... however when it comes between the two speed is more important.
  20. I don't think you're going to like what i have to say, but note: you insisted on me reviewing it... so i do with trepidation, One of the chief things a poem is suppose to do is convey an emotion, which yours does. Quite well, you're a very good wordsmith. the feeling of pain and suffering followed by the fact you can never face the tormentor because they have died (or just gone far far away) is palatable. this is good yes. However to me a "Good or great poem has to be firstly Consistant in it's form, this goes without the Rhyming because as i recall there are traditional poetry such as perhaps Hakus that do not rhyme (although they might in Japanese... i don't know) however you should keep the same number of lines in each segment... or do so in say a recognizable pattern..... anyway as it may be, a poem should flow as your reading it or speaking it aloud....yours doesn't... don't be discouraged however.... a lot of young poets (young not in age but experience) make mistakes like this... I did as well. btw if you have trouble with finding rhyming words i have link to a rhyming dictionary you can use...(i use it all the time.) *is sorry if this sounds harsh, i did say i didn't want to Review... and this is why...cuz i am a sour puss who is a stickiler when it comes to poetry... call me the Poetry Nazi *
  21. yeah i never agreed to the deplanetizing Pluto, i found it horrifying and sad... but i suppose you gotta do what you gotta do. After all they have like at least 6 of those, what was it, miniplanets or whatever now, in our solar system. You know what, i hope/wish they'd make a book on both our solar system and all them exoplanets they've found so far... on that isn't college level... ie so that kids would look at them and say oh that's cool or whatever... Or better yet make a computer program were you can visit these systems or something...type issue.
  22. everytime i hear the words "sent mom/dad to the nursing home" i get sad...
  23. i swear i know at least 2 of those older ladies....

    warning

i read it, it's sad. And it's too late to wear purple... He chose to keep his lot in life, he could have chosen to be in such a relationship earlier. it's sad because his wife never knew who he really was, and she died not knowing. More than that neither did he. You are never old enough to wear purple because you always could have done so. There i am done preaching. On a writers level, it's a slow moving story, best read late at night with a cup of tea in hand.

    Chapter 2

interesting continuation of the previous chapter I did enjoy it greatly Although i will add this, I don't think you had to add "such and such point of view" just put a ... break then introduce the other character and his view.... Especially since they're a completely different person and have a different history and view than the first character. It might take a little longer but it's easier then to just switch to that character at a later date. Ever read "The Red Pyramid" by Rick Riorden, that may help give you ideas on changing in first person perspectives.
