I'm not sure what the best way to address this question is, because it's super valid, but I also want to steer clear of anything that is a spoiler. Since you brought up David, I'll use him as an example. Even in past tense, I think Corbin is viewing this all as past tense. I wouldn't pay too much attention to when things are brought up in that tense, because basically as a writer its a tool I've used to show some separation, and in a way try to make Corbin more likeable in that, 10-12 years later he's able to show some learning from those moments. With that being said, I'm in contact with a large percentage of the guys are in the story, whether or not they stay focal or come and go. Hope that clarifies things. More to come!
