This is a major failure in our criminal justice system. There are many instances where a State will not report convictions let alone warrants to the Federal authorities. Drill down to the county level and many of them will not report warrants to the State. So let's say you go to another State and they do their background check, you will not show up. It works much the same way with cops who are dismissed from one force but turn around and get hired by another force... Even in the same State! Hey! I have an awful lot of competition here. There are many more evil authors on GA than me. And they are much worse!!! 😁

At Luciano’s, we were shown a table for four. Mr. Lundquist was already there and a lady I didn’t know was seated with him. When they saw us, they both stood up and Larry held out his hand. “Peter, good to see you, again. Even if it's with a brand-new, and if I do say so myself, a very impressive black eye. Allow me to introduce you to my wife, Margo. She is also a Paralegal with our law firm.” I shook his hand, then offered my hand to his wife. “Pleased to meet you, Mrs. Lundquist.”

I do believe that is what is going to happen. I'm not sure if Simon will be able to expel Yidian. Moreso turn Yidian into something less than a pure demon.

Finally! Enough information has been given that some things are beginning to make sense. Thank you, @TeamStilinski.

I'm not too picky, as long as it is a good single malt Scotch...

@Darryl62, I'm always glad to have more opinions about this story. It can only improve my writing style.

Yup. I saw that, but thank you regardless. When Mark gets a few more chapters posted, I'll likely start reading it again. Right now, I finally got over my writer's block and I'm writing again.

If only because I just finished rereading Beyond Salvation... And the extra chapters that went with it! Anyway, this was always one of my favs. Thanks, @Mark Ponyboy Peters!

It's the stress @Summerabbacat!

Um, Mitch didn't offer. He outright rimmed Peter!

I can just picture the effect should she open a closet door, or a cabinet door (kitchen, bathroom, etc), sees "something," and either quickly closing the door, or runs away. Then Louella does not find anything there on the second look... Transitions from Panther to mouse, let's say... Of course, the ethical thing to do is to ignore her.

Having survived all the horrors of his life under his Mother, Pete could have taken one of two paths. He has chosen the path of truth and the freedom that truth gives him. I strongly suspect that the love his uncle has shown him has something to do with it...

I can think of several ways to get Louella packing. Yes, it involves using their 'gifts' to do it. It also involves getting into her house to do the dirty deeds! By the time I was done, Louella would come to believe the house had become haunted or she was losing her mind. Either way, she would be out of there!

*sniff* I'm so glad this excursion into writing a story has been so well received. It gives me hope that the next book of Pete's life might be as interesting to all of you, as this one appears to be! Chapter 12 should go a long way to answering your speculations about the "surprise." It's unfortunate but Mitch still has a part to play in this drama.

But you don't wanna leave your speculation in public view? How rude! 😉 Yeah. Peter wasn't gonna let Mitch get away with that stuff... Yeah, stuff, let's use that word.

I've been asked by several other people how I could write a dialog-driven story in 1st person... I don't know! Really. It just seems natural when I start typing. By the time I was writing chapter 4, I realized that I had to go back and edit everything I had done up to that point. @Roland pointed out that there were lots of spots where I slipped into 3rd person and then resumed in 1st person. I was told to make up my mind! LOL!!!

If I remember correctly (IIRC), and without looking it up, evil skinwalkers stay in a perverted half-state. Not human, but also not completely shifted (where we get the evil werewolf persona).

As we pulled up to our house, I saw Mitch sitting on the front porch. I wondered what he would be doing here. Does he really think I’ll just forgive and forget, this soon? At least, that’s what I think he’s doing here. I’ll ask, but I don’t have to talk to him right now. I’m just too mad. Unc pulled into the garage and triggered the door to close. We got out of the car and went into the house via the garage-kitchen door. I walked to the front and opened the door. Taking a deep breath,

So it was the Caretaker at the door! It was nice of him to bring the paper by.

Oh, man! I gotta get my buddy Roland over here to commiserate with you, @kbois. He's diabetic with many of the same things you just mentioned. The only thing he didn't do was to load up on NSAIDs.

No, I do not have to accept your interpretation. You would not be 'preaching' if you were 'sorry.' It's your history, not mine. I was getting ready to be deployed to Vietnam. Do you think the military would have reported the Stonewall riots? Most newspapers never mentioned it. TV news broadcasts in the San Diego area only showed a highly parsed and sanitary version of what was happening. Should I mention all of the protests against the war that were still going on all over the California metropoliton areas? That played so well in the news that mention of a few queers and drag queens in a small section of New York City didn't get much air time. It simply was not a rosy time to be a queer. I suspect we will have to agree to disagree.

Thanks, @Geron Kees. I am stoked that you would read my scribblings. Most especially since you know the high regard I hold you to. Now... Go enjoy your Mother and her day.
-
Well... It wasn't 'till you showed up... Wait! I didn't just say that, did I? 🤔😉😁
