I understand @J J. I wish I had the time for a reread. As it was, I did reread "Embers," just because I thought that Brandon was a great character!

Let's see... Kandric was a high step 4 or 5 Secondary Shaman when he found and followed Vondum. Then he destroyed the Arch Demon Cyronia. That alone pushed him well into the Teaching Echelon. Now add in all the dragonlings he killed. Teaching step 5 until he killed the Green Queen. That bumped him to the Expert Echelon. Then right after that, King Blathamort and Master Echelon, and now he becomes the Premier ('cause he hates the idea of being a Prince by birth but had to take some title to placate everyone else). Only it just doesn't stop there. He next kills a True Green and that likely puts him at Master step 5. A bit later, he kills the Crown Prince of the Whites. That pushes into the high Legendary Echelon (he now very likely outranks Glaster, even if he doesn't know this). In Chapters 32 and 33, Kandric Destroys Pyrothermal, the rumored husband of the Demon Lord, Frexla. Besides whatever gifting he gets from that, there is also the gifting from the Sands Queen. While still a mortal, Kandric has been pushed to a level above Legendary. It is the same level that Lord Falk was invited to become, should he accept the invitation. The High Council doesn't have a clue about Kandric. The current gods are frothing at the mouth to get him, as Kandric is now a level just below them!

This is about what I expected from Roy. An absent clueless Dad who needs to control the son he never really cared about. On the other hand, is the Mom who backs her son, regardless. The mom will also make sure his Dad gets on the same page!

I'm so happy to read more of this trio! Honestly though? With everything else I've been doing, I had forgotten about the stories and was surprised when this showed up in my notifications. So, I'm really happy I followed you in order to get this terrific opening chapter. Like some others, when we get into relationships, we don't always think of the ramifications. Especially when it isn't a "normal" relationship. That this may well turn out to be a thrupple... Well, that's gonna really queer the deal with some people (pun intended).

I'm of the firm opinion that everyone has their own belief, and contrary to what some think, no two beliefs are the same. This is regardless of upbringing and/or indoctrination. @kbois, the story was well written and a relief to the type of story where a certain belief system must be used to present something interesting.

Very nice story, Bill. I liked the bit of realism you interjected. Life is not a fairytale nor does life always have happy endings. This one was more a standard sort of story, at least in my experience. And that's OK. We don't always have to read fantasies to like a story.

This just seemed too easy. Too pat. Something is bound to leap out and derail all of this mushiness! (sorry, it's what I expect, given who is writing this story!)

Close... Underwood typewriter.

In Kandric #32 and #33, Kyle drops several clues as to what may be happening to Xavier and Friends. This was all written before the rewrite of Sands. In Crags, Kyle gives us more to think about where the stories may intersect with each other. Of course, the biggest problem is understanding not just what Kyle writes, but how he writes.

My first thought was the YouTube video of a Leopard trying to get a porcupine!

Yeah, if you're used to regular dynamite and switch to C4... LOL! It often surprises people. Sometimes not in good ways!

Beavers play an important part in the ecology of the land. As do most of the animals, prey or predator. The problem that I see with many, if not most, environmentalists is that they have one track minds. Add in tunnel vision. Let's save them from extinction! -- But where are the predators to control the population? We are not it, because we can no longer hunt them. But we have driven all their natural enemies (except us) out or at least out of the area of the beaver we are trying to save. Beavers who have populated enough to become a danger to harvesting trees. So we can't harvest trees. Gotta leave them to the beaver, don't you know. I know! Let's bring in some coyotes and wolves. That'll control the beaver population. No hunting them either. Well, not until we get a stable population of these critters. But wolves and coyotes breed fast. Your little dog or cat is missing? Oh, and your two-year old toddler? So while we are moving along this carousel, let's build our new housing tract over on that hillside... Balance is what's required and we humans have a lengthy history of not being able to balance things.

Well, I did learn some things about beavers I didn't. Like the way they eat the tree bark. I had no idea that they actually killed the tree in the process. Another good chapter, Bill.

Hmm, I believe you just described my kitchen!

Whatever happens between Texas and Montana, we have to remember that Caleb was banished. I don't think that Sebastian is going to blithely let him back into the pack's land. And we still don't know if Caleb inherited Asa's healing powers. Lot's of 'Ifs' here!

Or... Sinatra? Martin? Crosby? Cohen? Williams? So many artists that made it without the opera thingy!

Chapter 1: Working the Night Shift 2
Al Norris commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 1: Working the Night Shift 2
I'm sure the Aunt was correct. If she followed the light, we (and she) know where it would send her! LOL!!! Another good tale, Bill. It really fleshed out the original story. Thanks. -
I'm bummed! Back on my last post, I worded it very carefully, when I wrote 'Dear Leader.' It appears that it went right over everybody's head! That phrase is an American bastardization of Der Führer! 😇

What we've seen, more often than not, is that in this shifter universe, Fated Mates seem to grow in power when they mate. How this might affect Caleb or Asa, only the Dear Leader knows for sure...
