This chapter brings up something that bothered me at the start. That is the wives weren't able to shift and be with their husbands. This would really give the women a complex. Makes me wonder if the ceremony might not be sorta shifted to include females.

From Kandric-33, Glaster talking to the Pantherling Wek: Later, in the same chapter, Dostem, Sharris, and Gagan talking to Conner and some of his crew: So now we know that Xavier and company are in the same time period as Kandric.

The Ones We Leave Behind

Diet, a bit of exercise, and a baby dose of metformin. Glucose runs around 105 to 125 (depending on what I'm eating). -

Yup. Us type 2s that are not on insulin can even have a modest serving of sweet treats every so often. -

Yeah, I forgot to say that what Roy had to say and how he acted, were a given. I expected nothing more from him. It was a nice scene with Rusty's Mom. It brought back memories of the night my Mom passed on. All of us kids got to say goodbye. I had to tell one of my sisters to leave, or Mom wouldn't let go. She did, and she did.- 37 comments

Hmm, Not sure how this 'confrontation' is going to go down... Just that it will. Um, how is it that I'm first?- 37 comments

In my Fly-over Town, in south-central Idaho, After a fire, the police will rope off the area and assist the fire marshal by keeping Looky-Lou's out of the area. If it is determined to be arson, then evidence collection has already been started (by the fire marshal) and turned over to the police.

Funny how that works! It's not picking at nits. It's how fires are worked, once you determine it was arson. When there was someone at home when the fire started, it became an attempted homicide. Regardless, it just proves that @kbois is human and doesn't think everything through. But I don't really cast any blame on this blooper, because that is the kinda thing your beta reader and editor are supposed to find! Hmm, have I spread the manure out far enough? 😇 😁

This was yet another great adventure for our four Heroes. A housewarming party for Christmas? With an open invitation for everyone they know? In a house that is alive, what could go wrong!!!

Whenever you open up a new Charlie Boone story, the only thing you can be sure of is its Holiday Theme. Maybe. Sort of. Sometimes? Ah, who am I kidding? Geron is a master storyteller and his Charlie Boone series are among the finest you might read anywhere. Here we have another Halloween story. But it's not just your everyday spook story. Haunted Houses, Strange Creatures, Ghosts, the Walking Dead, and even multidimensional critters that are too weird to describe. If this is the only Charlie Boone story you read, then you won't be disappointed... You might even be tempted to read them all!

All the kids that were at the ranch in Montana (or close by) have been healed. Happy ending to that end. However, Caleb still has to get the courage to tell Vann the truth! So Caleb has been having a gut feeling that he needs to get back to Texas, I remember thinking as things were moving in the right direction, that the other shoe was gonna drop... And sure enough, it did. I think we've all speculated that this is kinda an opening salvo by Huntington, but we don't know for sure... Yet!

I keep imagining looking at that Dead Storm... After a while, it is enough to give nightmares!

I liked the chapter, as a sorta graduation chapter! LOL. Nobody else is willing to show how much they messed up on your quiz, Bill (at almost 73, I couldn't care less who knows how dumb I am). So here are my answers! And as promised: Training Quiz 1. Why weren’t Devin and Gramps allowed to go out as wolves with Mac and Pops? 2. What is the major difference between black bears versus brown bears and grizzlies? Size and temperament. 3. What is the difference between a white-tailed deer and a mule deer? White-tails are smaller, while Muley's have a black spot on tail. 4. Do cougars hunt in packs? No. Solitary animals. 5. What types of packs do Coyotes hunt in? Related family packs are led by Alpha Males and Females who are unrelated. 6. How high on a tree will beavers eat the bark? 18 to 34 inches. 7. What are two unique features of a porcupine quills? They are hollow and have (hidden) barbs. What are the young of the following animals called? Some animals may have more than one answer. 8. Wolves pups 9. Bears cub 10. Coyotes pups 11. White-tailed or mule deer fawn 12. Cougars cub 13 Rabbits kitten 14. Opossums joey 15. Beavers kits 16. Squirrels kitten 17. Porcupines porcupettes 18. Raccoons kits

Two days late in reading, 150 comments... Wow! I suppose I should have expected this. What with the healing(s) started and the Huntington threat on the rise, I don't know why I was surprised! For what it is worth, good chapter @kbois!

Rereading this part of the overall story and this chapter has made me just as mad as I was on the first reading! Bigotry and its associated hate, no matter what the cause, is always bad.
-
I have to admit, that the feeling of being watched got to me. I really figured something bad was going to happen... Especially when they all shadow-shifted. Good to see it didn't but I can't help stop feeling this is a portent of things to come! Anywho, it was good to see that Kage's spirit was 'alive' and kicking.

Oh Heck! I just realized that you have left us in the dark about Seth!!! Was Ethan able to effect more repairs to his spine? And just how old was Seth and Glenn? Without rereading Education, I just can't remember.

Thank you, @WolfM. This was simply a wonderfully told story and ended not only on the appropriate day but on the appropriate note!

Without giving anything away, yes. There are several ways. I will say that a bunch of new text has been added to each chapter... Even if you don't recognize or even realize it. First, there is no magic ring involved - David is going to hate me for saying this! Second, Garnet is not an Illorc.
-
Only 2 comments for this chapter? I guess contrasting the difference between the 2 cultures isn't that interesting or possibly worthy enough to comment on.

Hmm, next transition... Eagles? Learning to fly would be hard, I would think. Birds don't just flap their wings up and down. They have instinct. We have... Um... Yeah. Then there is the matter of the stabilizers. You might know them as tail feathers. Should we mention that landing (assuming you actually got flying) is a whole different thing? Anyway, good chapter. I knew the quills were hollow but never knew how the barbs worked!
