  1. Welcome Stephen. Nice to see someone else join the nuthouse, er um, I mean site. Enjoy. You will find all sorts here from your dedicated reader to your fellow writers.
  2. It is still a posting Bashfulpie. Welcome.
  3. Phyllis was from the old school of comedy. She seen life and found the funny side no matter how bad things were. I remember her in some of the old movies with Bob Hope and the like. As a kid the first time I encounter her was a cartoon for Scooby Doo. She will always be remembered.
  4. Thanks Joann. Just me trying something new out. I like my stories to go against the grain most of the time. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Chapter 1

Well you know me KC, I love my myths, legends, and fairy tales. The Brothers Grimm had collected so many, but I do so love to put my own spin on them. You find I never fully leave the original completely, but I veer enough so the tale is my own. Glad you enjoyed it.
  6. Thanks for catching that blunder. I'll fix it. Yeah it picks up nicely toward the end there doesn't it.

  8. Aw. Glad you read and you can see sometimes the minor characters are just that. Minor. Hope you enjoyed it all.
  9. Har - As much as we'd like to think we are supermen, able to do it and be it all to everyone we aren't. As much as you want to know you are important, and for many you are, they aren't going to show it constantly. It is sometimes the small gestures and comments that show how they care. I agree that keeping busy can help but don't drown yourself in work and forget to live your life. Always try to find a balance. It isn't easy but it is worth it. To everyone else, remember if nothing else this thread gives you a chance to vent. We might not be able to do much in person but we can at least support each other here. to those that need them.
  10. Thanks Percy. Yeah, I wanted to toy slightly with what people would expect. He could care less the kids were gay more worried they weren't ready for the weather up there, and that they might have been stupid to try something in the truck. Thanks for reading and commenting.
  11. Thank you Joann. I never know what is going to capture my imagination or how I am going to translate that. At least I know people are reading and enjoying it.
  12. I’m getting old. There is no denying it. That thought kept running through my head as I went about my business almost on automatic. Why would anyone in their right mind come out here to the middle of nowhere for their honeymoon? People have no common sense sometimes. “Excuse me, Sir? Um, will this take much longer?” I looked at the kid. Yeah, he was a kid. I bet he didn’t even shave every day. Hell my jockstrap was probably older than he was. “Sorry kid, I’ll have your truck onto the flatbe
  13. I've worked with many different betas, including Cia, and the ones I like are the ones who are honest with me. If something doesn't work in a story, I am using a word incorrectly, or there might be simply a better choice and it is suggested to me I will seriously begin changes to improve my story. However if I get things like "I hate this" it means very little to me. Pointing out that something is confusing and you don't get it means a hell of a lot more to me.
  14. Happy Birthday Cia! You work so hard for others, You never seem to rest, From editor, to Admin, and that title too of mother, From all of us you expect only the best. So for your day I can only wish For you all the dreams a heart can hold, A slice of cake upon a dish A chance for you to be so bold. All the greatest now and always.

    Author Showcase!

Thank you Dark. It isn't often I get to see someone enjoy the story after it has been up for a while. I do have a thing for fairy tales though don't I. Your review was greatly appreciated.
  16. What, was that common when I was in school? Oh and welcome Xtro. lol
  17. And people worry about what I might ask them. Thanks for doing that Andy.
  18. Welcome Daniel. Always glad to see someone who loves to read join the site. There are a large number of younger and college age stories here. Just click to look to see if the story is complete before you begin if that is your preferred way of reading. Enjoy and I'm sure you will find plenty to keep you busy.

    Chapter 1

I've always loved Fairy Tales. I have a tendency to be drawn to them and like to have fun when I recraft them from the original. Glad you enjoyed it Podga.
  20. Lily, I'm not sure what to tell you there. Life isn't always easy and most friendships are things both sides have to work on. You say he had been sick so not sure if he had a relapse and went back in or what. I know not knowing it horrible. That sort of lingers and makes closure nearly impossible. All I can do is add my best hopes that maybe his boyfriend will let you know what is going on. When an email closes down it is either from lack of use or from the owner turning it off. Either way isn't good news for you if you are trying to find out what happened. If you have the boyfriend's email see if he is on facebook. That might give you another option. My heart goes out to you any way you look at it. I hope you find answers. Wayne

    Chapter 1

Making me blush here Louis. Glad you enjoyed my retelling of this. I often feel there is so much left out of the originals or that you don't get real feel for them. So I enjoy going in and redoing them. Just happy someone else enjoys reading them.
  22. I'm sorry you were up so late reading. Most of my tales are much more manageable. I'm glad you like Charlie and Scott. They are close to my heart. Thank you for the review as well.

Thank you Stephen. I enjoy putting my own spin on things and this tale just called to me. I have never seen a real Pink but thought it fit.

    The Challenge

Oh I like this. Great story and glad to see the list of the words you avoided. Considering the sport I am sure it was hard not to use driver.

    Chapter 1

They say a man doesn’t appreciate what he has until it is too late. This might very well be the case, or at least it was for Renaldo and Cristobel. It seems no matter what level of society you live at the same blindness exists. Renaldo began life in the poorest sections of Stamali. His parents were not able to afford all the children they had and as each became old enough they were quickly found an apprenticeship. Renaldo was lucky in that he found himself apprenticed to a great chef. The chef
