  5. Since Thanksgiving I have been on the run. I haven't been sleeping well or keeping up with much. My father's surgery went well but he is still recovering and that goes slowly. It seems the post office is playing hide the mail. One of my bills sent out over two weeks ago still hasn't arrived. I got a call today if the bill isn't paid by tomorrow I lose my insurance. Now I have to run there and pay it. Watch me pay it in the morning and check clear in the afternoon. I finally got my holiday cards out. Took a while and this is late for me. Of course after they were mailed I was notified a few people have/are moving and given new addresses. Hope the post office forwards cause I am not making out another. lol. Anyway I am hoping to get my own holiday gifts together and out. I have exactly eight people to get for at this point and not a single idea. Oh well. Hope everyone is having a better time of it. 6. Ah December is upon us and most people are deep into shopping mode. Some people are still fighting to finish their Anthology stories, which are to be in by today if you are smart, and some are busy with their on going stories. Yet I am here to tempt you all with new ideas to write about. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is Friday once again. Prompt 284 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – a large pimple, an old man, a torn pocket, a diamond earring, and a stack of magazines. Prompt 285 – Creative Tag – Wonderland Lately you felt your life was getting a little crazy. You kept wishing you could get away and just not deal with your daily life. Then you ran into a guy who was dressed all in a white, with a rabbit design on his tee shirt that read, “Never late so always on time.” You watched him dash down the street ahead of you and seem to vanish into a store called The Looking Glass. Curious you go to follow him and slip as you cross the threshold. When you go to stand up you find yourself in a totally different environment. What is this Wonderland like? Is it better or worse than your normal life? So another week with no takers for the prompts. However I decided to dig into the past and find something interesting to post. So here is one I thought everyone might enjoy. Prompt 246 asked the author to use the opening line "What now?" Kitt rose to the challenge and gave this story to us to read. Do you want to know what else Kitt came up with? Of course you do. So go read the rest and then leave a comment. http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37326-prompt-246-creative/ Till next time - remember to write, read, and review. Enjoy everyone. - Wayne

  21. Today is December 1st and it is World Aids Day. AIDS Yeah I grew up in the time that terrible thing reared its ugly head and made everyone afraid. AIDS was a death sentence when I was a teenager. There wasn't a chance of survival. It was just a wasting death. 1988 when I was in school there was still so much that wasn't known. People thought it could be passed by sharing needles, drinking cups, spit, and you name it. That made everyone suspect. Eventually it was known to be passed during sex, . I can remember going to a Health class where as you walked in you were handed two sheets of paper. One was folded up and the other was a large sheet where you were asked to go in and get five people to sign your sheet. In a class of 28 students two opened the folded paper to find a black dot. Each person they shook hands with was then infected. It was scary to see how easy it would be to pass that along. Because no one knew who was infected. It scared me and put me off sex for a long time. Before I was 21, five friends had become part of the AIDS Quilt. People were dying, people were blaming, and people were hoping for a cure. Twenty six years later there are drugs to help you survive. There still isn't a cure. The idea of being careful is again being forgotten. More frightening then ever are people who want the bug. Life is so precious and this dreadful killer still stalks so many world wide. The only thing I can tell people is be careful. Remember those who came before you, learn from their mistakes. You don't need to repeat them to learn them. HIV and Aids are preventable, but they aren't curable. I'd prefer not to see another patch for the quilt ever made for someone I know.
