  1. I was a huge DC fan. I started collecting in the 80s. I have every one of the big books from DC when they were relaunching most of their titles. My Flash wasn't Barry Allen but his nephew Wally West. My Wonder Woman was reimagined by George Perez. I read the Titans, JLA, JSA, JLI, Birds of Prey, and so many others. I read Marvel as well but then Marvel began having stories that ran through every book they had. I dropped it in favor of DC. Then about a year or so later DC did the same thing. Last year DC rebooted again. I hate the characters I'd loved for 20 years with their new stories, weird reboots and all. It was like taking the worst aspects of everything and going for it. Want to read a great series. Buy the Trade Paperbacks of The Sandman. There was a great story.
  2. When I am writing a anything other than a short story I do another version of Cia's idea. I simply start doing character sheets. Who are they? Friends? Job? Hobby? Important Events? What is their ultimate goal in life? Are they the kind who rarely has a problem or is their life one continuing problem? Then don't be afraid to find yourself a beta. A good one will point out areas to improve, expand and make suggestions to you. I'm late to this party and KC, Cia, James, and the rest have already given you some great suggestions.
  3. Shows what happens when you get busy and don't even notice you were featured for your prompt story. Thank you.
  4. Since I joined Weight Watchers it has been a challenge to see what meals I can come up with that don't tax my point limit but still have a great taste. Then I had a friend hand me this recipe and I have never been so happy. Simple Lemon Chicken Ingredients 3 to 4 pounds of chicken. (The original recipe calls for thighs and breasts with the skin on it. I have used chicken cutlets pounded flat with no skin) 2 Tbsps Lemon zest 1/3 cup of fresh Lemon juice 2 cloves of garlic 2 tsp dried thyme 2 tsp dried rosemary 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper Directions 1) Place everything into a ziplock bag and allow to marinate for about 2 hours. 2) Preheat an oven to 425 degrees F. Place in a pan with a lip in a single layer. Place a little butter or margarine over the top of each piece of chicken. About 25 minutes into the cook cycle pour the remaining marinade from the bag over the chicken. 3) Bake about 50 t0 55 minutes. (If you use chicken cutlets instead adjust your cooking time appropriately. Instead of 50 minutes most times it will be between 35 to 40 minutes. Cut into one of your thicker pieces and make sure you are fully cooked.) 4) Take chicken out of the oven, cover with foil, and allow to rest for about ten minutes. Enjoy. These have a nice flavor and the lemon isn't pucker power if you know what I mean.

    Chapter 1

No Problem Cyn. Just one of those stories where you stop and hope you aren't the one without a life. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Chapter 1

Thank you Jo Ann. I'm always a sucker for a happy ending, but this little thing sort of got away from me. Trust me, my beta kept asking for more and if I followed her constant requests I would have ended up with a novel. As it is I am glad everyone is enjoying it.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Robert. This was just one of those prompts that the second I wrote it down I knew what I wanted to tell with it. Glad people understand it was meant to be a short story.

    Chapter 1

Thank you SpyroRyder. This was meant originally as a prompt, so I figured a one or two page tale. Unfortunately as happens to me often, it got away from me. Trust me this was expanded and expanded due to Kingdombythesea and Andy who both wanted more. However if I didn't stop it there it would have continue to grow. Glad you enjoyed it.
  9. Mark, I know we talked for a bit on messenger, but I am still going to write here as well. The loss of animal is nothing to gloss over. We have seen how that affects various people. The affection and love of a pet is unbiased. They love you whether you are mad, smell bad, smell great, have good hair or bad. They are there when you are sick or well. They don't have to be cute, but at some point they worm their way into your heart and enrich your life. Perhaps the most touching and important part of your whole story is at the end you held Cher. If nothing else you were there for her. I will admit to being a coward. I've had to put down more than one beloved pet who was either riddled with cancer or unable to move due to great age. When the doctor came in and asked if I wanted to be there I fell to pieces and no matter how I loved Ruby or Fawn, in the end I couldn't do that for them. Let the ghosts rest and do what is best for you, Mark. Remember, if you need a shoulder to cry on, someone to listen, or even someone to scream at, I am here. Wayne

Thank you Lin. This was suppose to be a short prompt but it became a short story. Glad you enjoy it.

    Chapter 1

Thanks so much for helping out with this one Andy. Hopefully it wasn't too painful getting through this. I never know where my next story is coming from and lately I am just churning them out. Again thank you for all the help.

    Chapter 1

Thank you for taking the time to review my story. I'm glad you liked it. I'm amazed at how many of my short stories people want turned into longer ones. And a Schroeder would be awesome!

    Chapter 1

I was originally shooting for like a page and half. Two revisions later I was over ten pages. Glad you enjoyed it anyway KC.
  14. Time Out for a Life My life has been on fast forward ever since I turned twenty-two; I graduated from college and found a job right away. Being single, I became super-focused on getting ahead and taking the corporate world by storm. It didn’t take long for me to pass the guys who were getting married, having children, or taking time to have a relationship. While they took time off for events, I went full blast through weekends, holidays, and just about anything else, climbing the corporate lad
  15. Raymond's life is his job and things aren't likely to change until his best friend sends him an invite where he must save the date. When tries to get out of Robin's event, his life is given the kick start it really needed.
  16. I wasn't happy to find out that Lancelot is dead. I wonder just how evil, Regina's mother might really be. Cora is looking like she might make Regina look like a novice in the evil department. I still wonder if she created the spell Regina used.
  17. We all have our Geekdoms. Superheros - whether DC or Marvel appeal to us. They show what we aspire to and yet they need to allow the reader in. Whether you are looking at bumbling of a teenage Spiderman or the godly powers of Wonder Woman no matter how powerful they are, they still have chinks that allow you to see them as human. Naturally both DC and Marvel have their purely human superheros that allow people to dream. Whether it is Captain America or Hawkeye from Marvel or Batman and Green Arrow from DC you see that even the average human being can work to be more. We love the heartache of Wolverine and how Superman is always the big Blue Boyscout. I think it isn't that we want to be them as much as we want the ability to see ourselves as being capable of acting that way. They are all flawed and no one is perfect.
  18. Well the Munsters have had a few reboots. The original had a few movies as well. Then there was an attempt at reviving the series in the mid nineties as The Munsters Today. I am just not sure how I feel about yet another version of this beloved old show.
  19. Mark always going to worry but wanted to make sure you were ok.
  20. Mark What do you mean you still don't have heat? Doesn't that also mean you have nothing to cook on?
  21. Happy Birthday Dark. May all your wishes come true.
  22. No Red that wasn't the inspiration for that prompt. lol. Actually caught Night of the Comet and figured I would see what else people could do with it, but the general idea has been played with a number of times in books, movies, and television shows.
  23. Fear of rejection - face it often but still a pain and nothing enjoyable Fear of Snakes - sorry just don't like the scaly things.

    House of Cards

Well I figured I would read your story after having run into you a few times in chat. Little Man "Clay" has a lot going on in his life. I feel sorry he hasn't been able to let Eric know who it was that had rocked his world and then torn it apart. Ogre became just what his nickname had implied. Seems Steve has some hard choices to make, although I don't see Clay pushing or forcing him into them. The story flows well and you have nice way of telling it. I look forward to the next chapter.
  25. Okay as I promised I am working on things. I finished my Halloween story and I have a beta going over it even as I write this. Huge thank you to KC. I am revising the end of my Prompt Story. The sucker is over eight pages and still not finished so looks like it will be going outside my usual "The Prompt You Say" stories and getting a heading all of its own. I never do that unless a tale reaches ten pages. I will be shopping it around for a beta soon. Work continues on my other two main projects - Jonas and Seeon. I hope within a week to have the next two chapters of Jonas off to my beta again. Wish me luck with that.
