  1. I've learned a long time ago you have to do what is good for you. I am the kind of person that once I know you, look out, I will hug the stuffing out of you. Until I do it is a handshake, unless I know you like or need a hug. My mother was a hugger, my father isn't. I just see it as a sense of security. As for the rest happening in here, well that is the reason I believe the thread was started. It is for everyone to share, the good, the bad, and know that they aren't alone.
  2. Lily - Am glad you are back. Sorry to hear about the health issues but glad to see you smile. Yettie - Everyone needs help sometimes. Glad to see you can reach out to help as well as be helped. Mark - The people in your life are more interested in you doing well. The animals and farm need you. Stu, well if you two had your way there would be two gents with really big smiles all the time. Until then just work on taking the steps you need to make sure you are happy. KC - Of all the people I have ever met you try harder than anyone to reach out to those around you. Part of being a nurse is the desire to help. However, you forget that doctors and nurses make the worst patients. Trust me if the smile breaks, those who see the real you will simply reach out to help you and hug you. I was luckier than most in here. I had a good relationship with my mother. However I have a relationship with my father that can be described as gasoline and fire. We feed off the worst of each other. The only thing I can tell you is time is a great equalizer. What is as sharp as knife now dulls over time. You don't forget but it is never as sharp. However there are painful reminders. Honestly, the first year is the worst. Just hang in there, remember those memories you share with your loved ones, and no one who ever lived is truly gone as long as they live on in the hearts and memories of those that loved them.

    Prompt #127

Andy, the story was really imaginative. I liked it a lot. The only thing is I assume the broke the law when he let Josh know he was the prince. Will that make him ineligible for the throne? Little things you left unanswered. Definitely an interesting tale.
  4. My mother started reading to me as far back as I can remember. I entered first grade able to read and recite my favorite stories from different fairy tale books. By the time I was in fourth grade I had devoured all the Hardy Boys and found a series of book by Alfred Hitchcock at my local library written for young boys. By sixth grade I'd read the Hobbit and moved on to LOTR. Through it all my mother was always introducing me to new authors and genres of books to read. I think that in and of itself is where I got my passion to read and write. She loved books and passed that love on to me.

    Chapter 8

Thank you Scarab. I like to have fun with my characters. I really don't like to have a throw away character. The nice thing about going in and expanding on a story is you get to flesh out your supporting cast and beef up the action. Hang on tight, next up is date night.

    Chapter 8

You always want more and you always complain no matter how long the chapter is that it is too short. Just got to wait till the beta and editor get through it. I promise it is written already.

    Chapter 4

Jonas I never really went into details on. Just know he is a big bear of man/boy. Wrestler with a heart of gold.
  9. Happy Birthday Adam. Wishing you all the best.
  10. That was the first time I really saw my boss lose his temper. He stalked around the office cracking his knuckles. His hair seemed to grow brighter, and his skin took on an orange cast. I watched him prowl around the office muttering to himself and if I didn’t know better I’d think there was a tail swinging in agitation down his back left pants leg. It seemed every part of him was ready to leap into action somehow. Mr. Openseter stormed past for the fourth time since Mr. Anders h
  11. I sat relaxing in my chair while TJ finished the steaks on the grill. It was nice sitting here listening to the waves crash on the beach as the smell of sea and food drifted in the fresh air. Hell, it was wonderful to be away from the city and my job. “Hey, hon. Dinner will be ready in a moment. Do me a favor and grab the drinks out of the cooler.” TJ always liked to have things ready when the meal hit the table. I got out of my chair and walked over to the cool
  12. I think they did a great job and I had sound for all of them. Congrats.
  13. Okay so slow getting back here. Brian you are cute, but that is nothing new. Adam I love your pics but you knew you had nothing to worry about. Diana welcome and thanks for the support your cute as can be.
  14. I've been going through my mother's music collection. Finding it funny how many songs I relate to her. One of them is Dancing Queen, but when i found this collection from Olivia Newton John's 1978 tv special I had to share. Get ready for three big names from the 70's - Abba, Olivia, and Andy Gibb. Enjoy.
  15. Trust me, Marky, so good. Just can't wait now till the fall when the new season starts. Oh and for it to come out on dvd.
  16. I hope you got to really enjoy birthday Myr. Wishing you all the best.
  17. Bee - I'm sorry for the loss. Seeing any animal you care for put down is never easy. Breeze - I'm glad you got away and had fun. Who knows, the crazy driving helps to let you know you were alive. Joe - Happy to see you are enjoying the baseball. To everyone, hang in there. When you act alone everything is a struggle, when you share the burden it is never as heavy.

    Chapter 1

Okay, so I came late to the party but then again I don't have to wait as long as everyone else cause you have a number of chapters up already. Already a fan of your work I know what I expect from your talents and this was exactly what you delivered. A great opening that drew me in from the get go. The interplay between father and son shows how close they are, the scars are there and you know the road hasn't been smooth and probably won't be easy for a while. You've warned the reader not to trust the town so seeing it as idyllic already has me wondering what this perfect town hides just beneath its veneer. The moment I get into any town that seems so great I start thinking of "The Lottery" and just know there is trouble coming. I liked how you brought us through the house following the dandelion fluff. That was a novel way of doing it and I enjoyed it. You know that Gibbie's mother was important to him and something he is still dealing with. I can't wait to go on and read what else you have up your sleeve KC.
  19. Thank you Joe. Funny, usually my poetry is dark but not so much this time.
  20. Well some relationships are hard to look back on but some are just bittersweet. John was just hard not to like and remember fondly.
  21. Oh Lord, Dolores, you have to continue this story. I mean you set it up so well and now I want to know all about this knife and whatever secret Adam might be hiding as well. Looks like you got a good tale to tell.
  22. Poetry has a tendency to show everything in what is and is not said. Thank you for reading and commenting.
  23. LOL. Well at least I know you enjoyed. Which flavor did you want Joe?
  24. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I like to throw a twist into a story as often as I can.
  25. From the smile on Regina's face I'd say she knows magic is about to come back. Lord knows what new trouble is going to happen.
