    Chapter 1

Well life doesn't always end with a happily ever after. Sometimes people don't realize what they mean to someone and they move on. Just one of those where things aren't perfect. Thanks for reading and commenting Nostalgic.
  9. Okay who has something new?
  10. Happy Birthday Robert.
  11. Ron it is up to you. The ones like the list of words or the first line are there to see how many different ways you can use that idea and come up with something new. That is what some authors enjoy. It is a challenge for them. Others like to work within the constraints of an idea. Whether you use it exactly as it is, or as spring board for your own story, the main idea behind the prompts is to get an author writing and enjoying the experience. The end result should hopefully be a story that can be shared with the entire site. Remember, if you don't like this week's prompts don't be afraid to look back and see what else is there. I mean we are presently at over 200 prompts and growing. Enjoy!
  12. I was never one to write Fan-fic. I have read some, both good and bad. To me it is reading the work and seeing the world that is created. I loved the world of witches and wizards - yes, I do love Harry but before him there was a series called - The Worst Witch. That whole area isn't new, but it is up the creator of those worlds to give an audience something unique. Those who chose to write in the worlds already created are working hard to both honor the original creation which they enjoyed and create something they wish could have or would have happened in the story. Whether you look at new movies of Sherlock Holmes, the modern take on Sherlock called Elementary, or the British tv series where Holmes now has all his old stories played against today aren't these just new forms of fan-fic of the original? As far as an editor or beta for these works I believe it must always be a testament to the team as a whole whether something is successful or not. If the writer, beta, and editor do not mesh well, then the stories won't work. Like them or hate them if the team does work together as a cohesive unit then I see nothing wrong with them.
  13. The kids are back to school, there is a slight nip to the air, and we are barely finished with the first week of September. Guess that means I have new victims, um, I mean volunteers for the new prompts. As usual I hope I have something fresh and tempting to get you to write again. Prompt 260 – Creative Tag – list of words Use the following words in a story – plane ticket, watch, broken shoe, flash light, nude statue Prompt 261 – Creative Tag – The Changeling One look and you knew the child wasn’t the same one the parents had left the hospital with. How do you explain to the two worried parents that their child isn’t really sick, but that the iron cross that they put on to protect the child is killing it, and that their baby isn’t the one they are crying over. Cursed as you are to see all of reality for what it really is, how do you tell them that their beloved child is a changeling? It seems that there are three authors who just seem to attempt the prompts regularly lately, for which I am eternally grateful. This time the prompt story chosen dealt with the author using the first line - “So you decided to tell me that now?” We had two authors attempt it and both went for weddings, but Kitt had a more comedic take on it which sort of reminded me of some weddings I've been to. Curious? Well here is part of Kitt's story, Two Weddings and a Nervous Breakdown. So would you like to know how it ends? Of course you do. You can find the end of Kitt's and Sasha Distan's take on this prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37570-prompt-258-creative/ The attempts at the other prompt last week can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37571-prompt-259-creative/ Remember - All entries for the Fall Anthology - Pandora's Box are due by September 8th. If you are still working on yours, hurry! In the meantime remember to read, write, and review. Have a good week everyone. - Wayne
  14. Do you really want people paying you in pennies?
  15. I remember doing that beta a long time ago.
  16. I am looking forward to the cooler nights so I can sleep better. What shows are you looking forward to seeing as the seasons begin?

  18. What are you offering to do, Zombie?
  19. I think Charlie is like most people. You might see sparks of who they are, but it is only once they are comfortable with who they are that they really shine. Charlie's life has been fairly steady and nothing has pushed him to stand on his own. He was the baby of the family, loved, protected, and fairly quiet and shy. Now life has changed a bit and suddenly he has to face what is happening. What those changes do to him is yet to be seen, but eventually you will see who Charlie really is.
  20. Hello again Brink, I wanted all the background necessary for the story out of the way. I tried to blend it as smoothly as I could so that the reader didn't feel like they were hit over the head with it. After the initial set up in the first three chapters, the story just goes forward. I hope you enjoy.
  21. HI Brink,This was the very first story I ever did on GA. It was popular and gained attention for me, but it did suffer as it was my first story and it went through both a number of editors and beta readers. There are mistakes that horrify me two years later, but over all most people have been forgiving and enjoyed the story anyway. As for Charlie, I just wanted to show a character that was coming into his own at last. He isn't damaged, isn't hated, and for the most part is just a bit socially inept. There are many twists and turns in the story, so hopefully I can keep your attention.
  22. That I can't remember the last time I went on a date anymore. What are you looking forward to now that the seasons are beginning to change again?
