Okay, so approximately two and half months ago my part of the world shut down. Public transport became empty, restaurants  shut down, doctor offices closed, and life as we knew it came to a standstill.
My job also closed but I was lucky, the pay kept rolling in. Then a month and a half in the company furloughed all part-timers and 20% of the full timers. However, once again I was lucky and the pay keeps coming in. They decided last week to reopen. We are paid for 36 hours and any hours we actually work we get an addition $2 an hour for. I am not complaining.
After three years of health issues, I have been blessed not to catch this.
Unfortunately, that doesn't mean everything has been great. Back in November my dad began to complain about his sense of smell. He was going to see his doctor and a lung specialist. He had been put on a nebulizer and figure that might be the issue. February rolls around and he heads to see the vein doctor and again is having issues and mentions it. The vein doctor suggests dad go see a nose, throat, and ear specialist. Enter Covid 19 and the close down.
The second to last week of May, dad wakes me at one am. He is in deep pain, in his eyes. I call his eye doctor, who calls back before two am and has us meet her at her office. She states dad has an infection in his eyes, prescribes meds, is grateful that we listened and didn't take a chance to expose dad to covid by going to the hospital. Woman is a saint of a doctor. We feel things are looking up.
The last week of May he finally gets to see the doctor for the nose. He finds my dad's nose has a lot of growths and has basically sealed the left nostril and part of the right. He doesn't do that surgery any more. He sends Dad for tests and an associate who works 30 minutes away, towards the city. The second Doctor sees the growths but also believes he spots a tumor and wants us to see a brain surgeon and go for better testing. The test was last Wednesday. There is a tumor growing behind the nasal passage, warping the bone between the nasal passage and the eye socket. However the brain surgeon is in Great Neck, minutes from NYC and has my dad panicked.
He wrote the first doctor back begging him to do the surgery. He stated he doesn't handle that. He agreed to find him another doctor to handle the growths, not the tumor, and he is going to have them removed this Thursday. He wants to cancel the consultation with the brain surgeon on Friday.
Meanwhile I am now stressed out, eating things I should not, and trying hard to just keep myself going. I was lucky to have two beautiful people help with a story I'd written for the Anthology but never managed to get fixed in time. I'll get it up when I can. Just didn't want things to crash and burn but they did. Wish me luck. At 81 my Dad is stubborn and a trip into NYC probably isn't going to happen.

So, these are the latest bits of bait I have to entice you to write. If you do, please link them in the prompt forum. Until next time remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well.

    Prompt 844 - Creative

A week and a half later you get your results and an official letter from a small country you'd never heard of. You discover you are actually second in line for the throne, they want you to come and be trained, however, you need to give up everything here including your partner. Will you become royalty or stay a commoner?
    Prompt 845 - Creative

So ladies and gents, does either one appeal? If so please, link it in the prompt forum. Until next time, remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well.

Another week has come and gone. Mother nature is confused, giving blistering heat and snow to opposite coasts. I won't even mention the other strange happenings. This year is moving on like a fevered Stephen King nightmare. To get your focus to something new, I proudly present your prompts.

Growing up you liked to dress and act emo. At 18 you had an ankh tattooed on your hand. One night after a party you were attacked, only to be saved by a stunning man with enormous power and a jackal pendent around his neck. "You should be more careful," his deep voice captures your attention as he grips your hand and your tattoo suddenly glows. He smiles. "Don't worry, not time to judge you yet." Unsure what he means, you allow him to walk you home. He tells you his name is Anubis and his dark eyes glow. What happens next?
Do you find either prompt interesting? Might we have a new story from you? Here is hoping. 'Til next time. Remember to read, write, comment, and like. Stay safe and well.

Hello! Well we made it through another week. The world gets a bit scarier, and living in New York has me in the center of the hot spot at the moment. In an attempt to focus on anything other than the news, I present to you new prompts.

    Tag - First Line
Where do you think you're going?
    Prompt 831 - Creative
    Tag - Owned
When you woke up this morning you found a metal collar around your neck. As you raised your hand to feel it, you discovered a tattoo on your hand and looking around suddenly that you weren't in your bedroom. Instead you found yourself on the floor of a small empty cell. Scared and confused you look around as a window opens and a small package is dropped in. Suddenly a computer generated image appears before you and informs you that you are to dress and prepare to meet your new owner. What is going on?

Well the world has been quarantined and people seem to be wondering what they can do. My suggestion is write. To help get your mind off things here are some new prompts.
    Prompt 828 - Creative
    Tag - Pygmalion
You'd only learned to carve after your accident. Originally you created birds and small creatures, but when you were left with a piece that was nearly seven foot tall it was suggested you carve a man. It began almost accidentally, but soon you found yourself carving your idealized man. People watching say you are inspired, and you push yourself, perfecting every muscle and hair on your creation. Finally, you collapse one night after putting the final touches, wishing he were alive. When you wake, you find yourself held lovingly in the arms of a stunning man who looks like your statue. What happened?
    Prompt 829- Creative
    Tag - List of Words
Use the following words in a story - an empty street, a log cabin, a giant fish, an awful smell, and a pizza.
Hopefully something appeals to you and you will attempt a prompt. If so, please, post the link on the prompt page.

Time flies. Next week is Saint Patrick's Day. It seems to be a bigger deal in the United States than in Ireland, but this year everything seems to be impacted by the coronavirus. Here is hoping everyone is well. To take your mind off such sad things here are some new prompts to consider.
    Prompt 824 - Creative
    Tag - List of Words
Use the following words in a story - a rainbow, a corned beef sandwich, a four leaf clover, a black eye, and a leprechaun.
    Prompt 825  - Creative
    Tag - Pot of Gold
Leprechauns are tricksters and part of the Fairy. The little shoemakers are well known for creating beautiful shoes that others pay handsomely for, the leprechauns are paid in gold by other creatures of fairy, thereby creating a pot of gold for each. You've managed to capture one and are faced with a hard decision. You may take his pot of gold, thereby also taking his magic, or attempt to keep him hostage for three nights and win three wishes from the leprechaun. Just remember, leprechauns are tricksters, will escape if they can, and are wordsmiths as well as cobblers. What happens when you go for your choice?
Did either appeal to you? Hopefully we will have some new prompt tales next week. Until then remember to read, write, comment, and like.

Welcome to March. Okay, so it is a few days in, but it is the first Friday of the month. So it is also a month for the Irish with St. Patrick's Day here in the United States, which reminds me that it is time for new prompts.
    Prompt 822 - Creative
    Tag - First Line
"What on earth are you wearing?"
    Prompt 823 - Creative
    Tag - Promises
Your grandmother always warned you not to make promises you couldn't keep. However, you never thought she was being serious. Until you met the odd neighbor when you moved your new home. He invited you over for a dinner but you made an excuse not to go. After finding an excuse each time he tried to get you over, you figured you would simply placate him. "I promise I'll be at your next event." He smiled and shook your hand. "Make sure you do," was all he said. When it came up, you found every reason not to go, but you suddenly find yourself compelled to go. You spot a letter left on your door that simply reads "Promises must be kept!" What happens and what did your promise make you do?
So that is the new prompts I have for you. Either one catch your attention? Feel free to write your story and post it in the prompt forum. Until next time. Remember to read, write, comment, and like.

When you arrive you meet the only other heir, a stunning young man, who is the benefactor's nephew. The other heir is given the property next to yours. Before you could even begin to think about that, your lover of three years has proposed and wants you to move with him halfway across the country. Shocked and wanting guidance, you head home only to be offered the chance to take over the family business and learn everything from your grandfather before he succumbs to cancer. What do you choose and why?

Hello and welcome to another attempt to get you to write and share your prompt stories. Prompts are usually short tales. However, over the years a prompt has inspired an author and multi chapter stories or novels have happened. They have been used as the start of chapters and as a way to reintroduce old characters into new settings. In plain English, prompts are there to inspire you to think or write in new ways. Don't be afraid to try one. Here are two new prompts to get you writing.
    Prompt 790 - Creative
    Tag - List of words
Use the following words in a story - a pumpkin, an apple orchard, a bottle of wine, a picnic basket, and a horse.
    Prompt 791 - Creative
    Tag - The Curse
You pissed of the old lady when she asked you to help load her overloaded grocery cart into her car. Her eyes narrowed as you politely refused due to the fact you were already late for work. You realize that stopping to pick up boxes of tea and coffee would have been much easier last night when you had more time. As you turned to go to your car you crashed into a very handsome young man, knocking him to the floor. Feeling clumsy you help him up as the old lady screams at you. "Don't help me, knock my grandson down. You're a foul, lazy, and stupid young man. I curse you!" There is a crash of lightning and your whole world changes. Were you really cursed or what happened?
So hopefully we will have some prompt stories to share next week. Until then, remember to read, write, review, and like. Be safe.

Well, we are half way through the month and we have made it to another Friday. Are you ready for Halloween? Are you ready for candy and scary movies? Are you set to enjoy the creepy and the outlandish? Hopefully, this week's prompts might inspire you to write.
    Prompt 792 - Creative
    Tag - First Line
"Damn, I can never get blood out of a silk shirt!"
    Prompt 793 - Creative
    Tag - The Great Pumpkin
You'd heard the rumor in school when you were a kid. The farm at the edge of town always grew pumpkins for Halloween and Thanksgiving. At the farm, it was said if you were a good person the Great Pumpkin showed up and rewarded you. However, if you were bad then the Pumpkin King showed up and punished you. You never believed it and couldn't be bothered to go see if either rumor was true. Now home to visit your parents, your car dies. As you begin to walk you pass the pumpkin patch. You hear a loud crackling noise and turn to see something rising from the pumpkin patch. Is it the Great Pumpkin, the Pumpkin King, or something else?
Remember any prompt short story should be part of a collection. If you link it to prompt page it might be featured here next week. Until next time remember to read, write, like, and review. Stay safe everyone.

He explained how his family celebrated Dia de Muertos and would be visiting the graves of his loved ones, leaving candy skulls and sharing memories of those they had lost. Having missed the fun of Halloween, you decided that you would visit the graves of the ones you had loved most. However, you never expected to see or experience what you did. What happened?
    Prompt 795 - Creative
