Well, we made it to another Friday. Did you miss me? I hope you all took the time to read and comment on the Anthology which went live last Thursday. However, it is now time for some new prompts. So consider these my gifts to you, open them and let the fun begin.

    Prompt 286 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
“Is that really the gift you’re giving him?”

    Prompt 287 – Creative
    Tag – Holiday Special
The malls are a mess, the people are surly, and your shopping list is beginning to look like a noose. However, everything is changed by the actions of one person and now your living your own holiday special. What happened and who is the one that changed your holiday.

Anyway, two weeks ago I gave out two prompts and people seemed to jump all over the one about Wonderland. Who knew so many people would want to follow that sexy little rabbit? There were three really excellent entries and I wish I could spot light them all. However, Jaybird85 decided to use this as his first chapter of an ongoing story. (Alright, I'm biased. I like it when someone takes a prompt and runs with it.)

Here is a sample of his first chapter.

So what do you think? Curious about what else he might have written? I sure hope so. You can find his story and the other talented authors take on this topic here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38048-prompt-285-creative/#entry444815

And the other prompt also had someone take up the challenge and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38047-prompt-284-creative/

So there they are, my gifts to you and the gifts your fellow authors have created for your enjoyment. Don't forget to read, write, and review them all. Enjoy your holiday everyone. Stay safe.

It is official. This was the year without any Christmas spirit for me.

Since I have gone to work in retail, life as I knew it was over. This year though work has pushed the idea of holiday over the edge. I worked 51 hours over six days. The store has been closing at eleven or midnight, and opened by seven am. There is a marked lack of customers but that hasn't stopped the non-sense. I listen as other stores this year have gone twenty four hours a day till Christmas eve, like Toys-R-Us and Walmart.

My father didn't want the house decorated. There is no tree, no lights, and nothing other than Christmas music and the cards people have sent me to make me smile for the holidays. I've worked so much that the gifts I do have for people are in bags, on the floor, in my bedroom awaiting me to wrap them and mail them out. I have decided as long as the gifts are mailed for little Christmas (otherwise known as the Epiphany) on January 6th, I will be happy. Unfortunately between Dad's surgery in November, my back flaring up, strep throat, and wild work hours I still have gifts, wrapped and addressed to be mailed for birthdays that occurred in November. I am just totally out of it.

I am off on Sunday and I have to go buy gifts for my father. No idea what I am getting him. I did order him a ring but that won't be here in time so got to get something for him to open.

To everyone else, I hope your holiday is going better.

Ah December is upon us and most people are deep into shopping mode. Some people are still fighting to finish their Anthology stories, which are to be in by today if you are smart, and some are busy with their on going stories. Yet I am here to tempt you all with new ideas to write about. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is Friday once again.

    Prompt 284 – Creative
    Tag – List of Words
Use the following words in a story – a large pimple, an old man, a torn pocket, a diamond earring, and a stack of magazines.

    Prompt 285 – Creative
    Tag – Wonderland
Lately you felt your life was getting a little crazy. You kept wishing you could get away and just not deal with your daily life. Then you ran into a guy who was dressed all in a white, with a rabbit design on his tee shirt that read, “Never late so always on time.” You watched him dash down the street ahead of you and seem to vanish into a store called The Looking Glass. Curious you go to follow him and slip as you cross the threshold. When you go to stand up you find yourself in a totally different environment. What is this Wonderland like? Is it better or worse than your normal life?

So another week with no takers for the prompts. However I decided to dig into the past and find something interesting to post. So here is one I thought everyone might enjoy.
Prompt 246 asked the author to use the opening line "What now?" Kitt rose to the challenge and gave this story to us to read.

Do you want to know what else Kitt came up with? Of course you do. So go read the rest and then leave a comment.

Since Thanksgiving I have been on the run. I haven't been sleeping well or keeping up with much.

My father's surgery went well but he is still recovering and that goes slowly.

It seems the post office is playing hide the mail. One of my bills sent out over two weeks ago still hasn't arrived. I got a call today if the bill isn't paid by tomorrow I lose my insurance. Now I have to run there and pay it. Watch me pay it in the morning and check clear in the afternoon.

I finally got my holiday cards out. Took a while and this is late for me. Of course after they were mailed I was notified a few people have/are moving and given new addresses. Hope the post office forwards cause I am not making out another. lol.

Anyway I am hoping to get my own holiday gifts together and out. I have exactly eight people to get for at this point and not a single idea. Oh well.

Hope everyone is having a better time of it.

Another Friday has rolled around. Here in the USA it is Black Friday and all the retailers try to get shoppers out and spending their holiday cash. Hopefully before everyone rushes out to do that I can gather a few interested souls in writing a prompt story or two.

    Prompt 282 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
“I’ve never had to tell this to anyone else, but I suppose it is time I did.”

    Prompt 283 – Creative
    Tag – Birthday Gift
You weren’t exactly looking forward to your birthday but arrived as it does every year. Only this year, you got a gift you just weren’t expecting. What is it?

Last week I gave two opportunities for Thanksgiving tales or even a fall tale, but there were no takers.

So hoping people find something interesting to write about.

Remember to read, write, and review. Have a good week everyone.

Here we are again, another Friday. Where has this year gone? Well, looking at the calendar it is now late November, and the Americans are heading toward Thanksgiving. (Sorry, the Canadians have already had theirs and I don't mean to slight them, but I am horrible keeping up with everyone's holidays.) However, no matter where you might be it's getting close to the holidays and time with family. With that in mind you might have a reason to be thankful, for the close-knit ties, or maybe for not being with yours. Anyway on to the prompts.

    Prompt 280 – Creative
    Tag – Giving Thanks
The holidays have rolled around again and you are back once more with your family. What are the things you give thanks for?

    Prompt 281 – Creative
    Tag – List of Words
Use the following words in a story – turkey leg, cranberries, crushed flower, torn coat, and a football.

Now because I decided to focus on longer stories that had begun as prompts I now have two weeks worth of prompts to choose from. There were some really wild stories that people should take a moment to read, but I do like to try and show new talent now and then. So this week's prompt comes to you from Daemok. She has woven together a new and interesting world. Have a peek. It was based off prompt 278 where the first line was - “Please, I can explain.”

So what else happens between Six Fingers and Officer Thorin? Don't you want to know? Of course you do, so go read it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37944-prompt-278-creative/

Don't forget our other prompts which can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37945-prompt-279-creative/ - Really, read Mann's story at your risk.

And then those tales of prompt 276 - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37908-prompt-276-creative/ - There are some sweet romantic tales.

So there are plenty of new stories to read that came out of the prompts. Hopefully one of this week's will appeal to you and get you writing. Remember to always link your work if you post it on your own page. So my fellow GA members, please remember to write, read, and respond to these and other works on the site. 'Til next time, enjoy.

Welcome back one and all, for another prompt this fall. Grab your pens and get set, lets see who'll take up this bet.

    Prompt 278 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
    “Please, I can explain.”

    Prompt 279 – Creative
    Tag – The Attraction
You have been hired to create a new attraction at the amusement park. You were told to let your imagination run wild, but your attraction had to tell a story. Explain the attraction to us.

Usually at this point I present a current prompt story for your reading. This week however I wanted to show just how some people have used these prompts. While some have made a simple prompt story for others they became part of longer on going tales. Here are some examples of the interesting ways the authors of GA have used the prompts. Enjoy!

James Savik - Case: Black - Zombies and so much more - https://www.gayauthors.org/story/jamessavik/caseblack

Mann Ramblings - So Little Magic Left - An outsider, magic, elves, and orcs and that is just the first two chapters! - https://www.gayauthors.org/story/mann-ramblings/solittlemagicleft

Renee Stevens - Line of Sight - A father starting over, a puppy, and lots of choices. - https://www.gayauthors.org/story/renee-stevens/lineofsight

Cia - Married to the Enemy - Can an arranged marriage lead to more then just peace? - https://www.gayauthors.org/story/cia/marriedtotheenemy

Layla - Broken Prince and Mismatched Eyes - Two men who aren't accepted for who they are become mated. Now will they ever accept each other? - https://www.gayauthors.org/story/layla/brokenprinceandmismatchedeyes

Life has a way of going forward, even when we might be frozen and not paying attention. Please forgive me for being a bit out of it lately.

I try my best not to let my daily life keep from doing the things I love or the things that are important to me. However, sometimes the daily life overwhelms everything else.

I'll start with my father. Tuesday he went in for surgery on two aneurysms that have been growing for over ten years. His doctor stated that most people who have this happen within two years of their discovery have the surgery. Not my father. In fact, they discovered that these were ripe when he was sent for a bone density test.

Anyway while in for the surgery they ran a number of tests and instead of relieving him of worry, added a few new facts for him to deal with. So it was discovered he has two more aneurysms, one in his stomach above the two he had, one in his leg, gall stones, and kidney stones. He finally came home today and is going to drive me insane.

My back doesn't seem to be getting any better. If anything, it might be getting worse. I'm finding myself in pain more often. Guess that is something I am going to have to look into.

My job has announced that they are joining the rest of the idiots and opening up on Thanksgiving evening. While the store opens at 6pm, employees will have to be there by four, which means leaving home by shortly after three. So no Thanksgiving meal for me if I get the opening shift.

Funny but as a kid I can remember there wasn't even a thought of Christmas until you seen Santa on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now there are Christmas decorations and sales in September. Halloween is still fighting to keep its day, but Thanksgiving is an afterthought. Even heard a few politicians say they want to end it as a national holiday because of how much money the government could save and it would guarantee that the parents would have baby sitters because the kids would still have school, and then they could go out to shop. Thanks, but I think they missed the whole meaning and the complaints.

Anyway, I have tried to keep up with the prompts and the anthologies. With my various friends and team members falling apart, and my own situation a bit screwed up, my apologies for not getting my own work out on time. Hope you can all forgive me.

Okay this week I want to focus on something slightly different when I do the prompts. i know some of the authors on the site have taken the prompt ideas and either used them as a jump off point for a longer story, some have used them for chapters, but I want to give attention to those who have taken these prompts and run with them. I know a few of them, but I know there are many more and I don't want to snub anyone. If you have taken a prompt and used it in a longer work please let me know here so when this coming Friday's prompts are announced I can highlight your work as well.

To name a few that I know of

    James Savik - Case: Black
Mann Ramblings - So Little Magic Left
Renee Stevens - LIne of Sight
Cia - Married to the Enemy
Layla - Broken Prince and Mismatched Eyes

I know there are more but for the life of me titles and authors escape me at the moment. So if you are one of the ones inspired by the prompts or have read one that was please let me know. I really would like to spotlight these hard working authors.

I am watching the leaves come down like falling rain, only in tones of red, orange, yellow, pale green, and browns. Friday has arrived after a few days of frost and passing showers so I'm ready for a little change of pace. Hopefully you're ready for some fresh prompts as well.

    Prompt 276 – Creative
    Tag - List of Words
Use the following words in a story – a Danish, cup of coffee, broken leg, cell phone, and a teddy bear.
    Prompt 277 – Challenge
    Tag – The Teacher
We have all had one teacher that sticks in our mind. Your challenge is to bring that teacher to life. What was so great or so bad about them that they stick out in your memory. Describe them to bring them to life for us all.

Last week was a busy week with a few people taking shots on the prompts. The prompt chosen for this week's feature uses some extreme language but then as its author, AJ, says it is done for a reason.

So that was AJ's take on the prompt. To see how others handled prompt 274 you can read them here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37876-prompt-274-creative/

I'm sure many of you are dealing with a hangover ... from the sugar you ate with all the candy last night on Halloween. Just remember today is Friday and the start of the weekend and a chance for you to do something truly wicked. What kind of wicked you ask? Well, what about one of my prompts.

    Prompt 274 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
“Is that honestly what you think of me?”

    Prompt 275 – Creative
    Tag – The Twist
You have been invited to be a guest on a new game show. You figured it would be easy to answer some questions and win some money. Once you were in front of the camera you found it all to be rather easy and figured you would end up winning when you seen who your competitors were. Then the host came out and introduced the twist to this new game show. What is it?

Last week there were a number of entries for the Halloween themed prompts. Kitt came through a new tale that also returned with the cast of characters she had used in an earlier prompt. While standing completely on its own the story becomes richer if you read the earlier one. Using prompt 273 which read - You are throwing a small Halloween Party for your close friends. You put together some killer food, holiday music, and everything seems perfect. Your guests arrive in some wild costumes and just when it seems everything is perfect you have an uninvited guest show up, and a real witch to boot. Upset by the costumes and attitudes of your guests she cast a spell over them, making them into their costumes until dawn. What sort of things are now at your party? What have you become? Will everyone make it till dawn?

Want to know how it ends? Of course you do. You can find it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37849-prompt-273-creative/

Well here we are, less than a week from Halloween. Needless to say I couldn't let this go by without allowing some spooky fun happen with the prompts. I am hoping these inspire some Halloween tales or spooky fun. With no further delays here are this week's prompts.

    Prompt 272 – Creative
    Tag - List of Words
Use the following words in a story – pumpkin, black cat, creaking step, a skeleton, and a wand.

    Prompt 273 – Creative
    Tag – The Halloween Party
You are throwing a small Halloween Party for your close friends. You put together some killer food, holiday music, and everything seems perfect. Well now that I have your attention, maybe someone will pick up the challenge and give us all something to read for Halloween this year.

Last week we had two prompts but only one got any attention. Prompt 270 asked the writer to use "Because, I'm leaving you." as the first line. Myiege had an interesting take on it so let me offer you a glimpse.

Ah, all the little terrors are knocking on my door. No, not trick or treaters, but people demanding I fork over the new prompts. Halloween is two weeks off yet, but some people really want their prompts.

    Prompt 270 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
    “Because, I’m leaving you.”

    Prompt 271 – Creative
    Tag – The Murder
You had been invited for a vacation, and happy to get away from your daily life quickly took it. Once you were dropped off at the island, you found you were one of only four people there. All of you had been invited, but none of you seemed to know the host, and you all seemed to be stuck with no way off. There was the fully stocked house, a pool, and all sorts of luxuries, but no phone service and no way off till the boat came back. That first day was great until the storm hit, knocking out the power. You went in search of everyone else, the group of you all came upon the body of one of the other guests. Who committed the murder and why? Will you survive to get off the island?

Hopefully one or the other will appeal to you. Last week there was just one soul brave enough to take on the challenge of the prompts. The following may not be appropriate for all readers.

Let me say his story should raise a few eyebrows (if not other things) and make you laugh as well. I'm speaking of Mr. Savik of course. The original prompt read - College is expensive and when you seen the ad, asking for volunteers to undergo a “totally safe” but “unique” trial of a drug you considered it. You were told if you were selected there would be a huge sum of money with enough zeroes on it to pay for college and more for a few years, so it was a done deal In your head. However, you were so quick to sign you didn’t read the whole contract and now you find that the little trial has some serious side effects. One of which was something no one expected. You are going through the change, but the question is, to what?

    And here is his answer.

So you think you have a different way for that prompt to go? Wanna give it a shot or maybe one of the other two hundred plus ideas? Then go have a look and see what appeals to you and next week your work might be spotlighted here.

Last week's prompts can be found here:: For 268 http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37794-prompt-268-creative/
    and for 269 - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37795-prompt-269-creative/

Use the following words in a story – pumpkin, lamp, giraffe, caution tape, and a large spider.

Last week we had three very different takes on prompt 266. The original prompt asked you to use the following as the first line - “I don’t care! I still believe in you.” Three authors took this line and went in three totally different directions. As we really don't have space for all I really had a hard time picking one. I really encourage everyone to give them all a read and comment however.

Welcome to Friday, and the warmer temps are still here in New York. I am looking forward to the changing leaves and cooler temperatures, but oh well. I don't want to keep you in suspense any longer so here are the prompts.

    Prompt 266 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
“I don’t care! I still believe in you.”

    Prompt 267 – Creative
    Tag – Time Warp
You had been watching an old music video from the 80’s, and laughed at the outfits and hair styles. Thinking how easy that time must have been for those living back then, you go to get up from the couch, slip, and knock yourself out. When you wake up, you find yourself dressed differently. When you look outside you suddenly feel sick to your stomach. As you reach for your cell phone you find it isn’t there. On the wall is a calendar that reads 1988. Somehow you are stuck in the past. What do you do?

After last week's screw up, there were four prompts for people to choose from. Choices were varied, but I did get a few takers. One of my favorites was the one about changes. Prompt 264 read - It is the beginning of fall and the temperatures are beginning to change, the leaves are changing color, and the moods of people are changing as well. Create a story centered around the idea of change – whether it is physical, mental, or maybe even a change of location.

Did you enjoy it? Wanna know how it ends? You can find it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37728-prompt-264-creative/

So go read, review, and write. Enjoy this weekend and see what inspires you to put pen to paper or fingertips to keyboard. Till next time. - Wayne

There are few things going on right now that are driving me nuts. I can't believe we are already in October. Seems this year is in fast forward. How did the time slip away so fast?

I am going to bounce around, so those who read this, I apologize in advance.

First up - The government shut down, again! I can't be bothered to point fingers and say whose fault this is. What I can say is if those elected to represent the people decide to put their polices before the welfare of the country we are going to fail. I don't care whose fault this is, I want them to sit down and fix it.

Second - I am proud of the fact I got my Halloween cards out. Now if I can just get the October and November birthday cards and gifts out for family and friends I would be happy. Think they might be late like most of them have been this year.

Third - i might have to track down people at the insurance company. After months of undergoing therapy on my back they want to deny all further claims, stating this might be workman's comp. After this many months they want to make it workman's comp? Grrr. So in the meantime you want to deny the claims and make me pay for them out of pocket? Yeah, this makes sense!

Fourth - A lack of common decency. Sorry, this is more for people I know. I have watched them attacked for things that most people would see as stupidity. If someone asks for your help, you do them the favor and do what you can for them, and are then attacked by them for not helping them in the way they wanted, well to me, that is just plain stupidity. If you ask for help and get it, you should be grateful, but that isn't how things in life seem to work sometimes. They then begin to complain to everyone that you didn't do the kind of help they asked from you is just a total lack of common decency. Truthfully, instead of help from a friend they need to consider professional help and some manners. I'm sorry if you have someone donating time and effort to help you, and you don't like what they are doing there are two simple choices. One, thank your friend for the work they have done, but either point out what you need so that they will do that instead, or save them the trouble of continuing and say you have found another way to go. Second, don't bad mouth them for not doing what you wanted when you didn't have the balls to come out and tell them what it was to begin with.

Fifth - family. These people are related and are supposed to always have your back. Just remember one thing, you pick your friends for the strengths and love you find in them. Family is yours by blood, but nothing says you have to be friends with them. If someone isn't helping you get along in life, but instead are ripping you apart and destroying your self worth, show them the door. They don't belong in your life and you can do better, family or not.

Okay, done with my rant. I'm decorating for Halloween. This and Christmas make up my favorite times of the year. This year with my all my family holiday cards I am sending a recipe card and asking that they pick out their favorite recipe that they make for the family and send it back. Next year everyone who responds I will send a cook book made up of those recipes. Who knows I might just send one to my friends as well and make the Family and Friends cookbook. lol

Anyway for all of those living north of the Equator enjoy your Autumn. Finally some cooler temps. Not looking forward to winter but I love the fall. Till next time everyone, just remember a little patience goes a long way.

Oh, it is that time of the week again. Yes, I get to see if I can succeed in luring someone to pick up my challenge and write a new prompt tale. Interested? Well, let me show you what I have up my sleeve this week.

    Prompt 264 – Creative
    Tag – Fall
It is the beginning of fall and the temperatures are beginning to change, the leaves are changing color, and the moods of people are changing as well. Create a story centered around the idea of change – whether it is physical, mental, or maybe even a change of location.

    Prompt 265 – Creative
    Tag – List of Words
Use the following words in a story – duct tape, broken toy, pizza pie, ice cube, and a laptop computer.

Well did one of those catch your attention? Do you feel the need to write? Don't let me stop you, go to it and then share it on the prompt pages so everyone can enjoy. Speaking of enjoying, I had hoped to post ones for last week's prompts. Of course, having had a bad day I forgot to actually create a page for them. Evidently no one wanted them because no one commented the pages were missing. ( ) Oh well. However we did have people who worked on the prompts from a few months ago. I really enjoyed one of them so I'm sharing it with everyone now.

The original prompt read - You finally have found the perfect mate. Someone who listens to you, shares your tastes in music and art, loves your movies. However they have just one small flaw. What is it?

Never Surrender took that prompt and made it her own.

Is that how she ended it? Of course not, but I want to make sure you go back to read it. The story, in its completed form, can be located here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36897-prompt-226-creative/

So until next week, ladies and gentlemen, please remember to read, comment, and share your favorite stories with others. Till next time. - Wayne

Oh dear, it is Friday again and I'm a bit late getting this up. I'm sorry one and all. This is what happens when you work a weird work schedule in retail. It has been two weeks since I could offer you a new prompt. I hope everyone enjoyed the anthology that went live last week, but I shouldn't just keep rambling should I? I won't hold you up any longer so let's get right to the prompts.

    Prompt 262 – Creative
    Tag – Friday the 13th
It is that time of the year again, and it is Friday the Thirteenth. Is this a good day or a bad day?

    Prompt 263 – Creative
    Tag - First Line
“And you thought not telling me would be better than the truth?”

We had a number of entries for the last round of prompts. That is the thing about them, you never know what the prompt is going to evoke in the author who chooses to pick up and write it. Some become comedies, other horror, but occasionally you get one that is sort of a mystery. Case in point, Dolores Esteban took a shot at the list of words prompt and began this story that she named Rose Garden.

So what do you think? Want to read more? Of course you do, who doesn't like to know the ending of a story? You can find Dolores' story and many others that attempted prompt 260 here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37599-prompt-260/#entry433417

For those who want to see what can happen with a changeling check out the response to prompt 261 here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37600-prompt-261-creative/

Remember if haven't read the anthology yet give it a look over. There were a lot of great stories. They can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/stories/category/66

So please remember to read, comment, and let everyone know what you enjoyed. Till next time. - Wayne

Life always seems to go in cycles. There are ups and downs, good times and bad times. I think we all go through them.

My father went out to see my brother for eleven days. It was nice to have peace and quiet. While he was gone I probably did more than I should have. Today, knowing he was due home I went full out like I haven't since I hurt my back. At least the house is clean and he came home to a clean bed, fresh blankets, and no problems. As a result of the non-stop movement all day, my back is presently throbbing and my legs are cramping like I can't put into words. I took my muscle relaxers for the first time in over a month. Hello pain, sorry I really wasn't missing you, but I see you found me anyway.

I'd been feeling slightly down. I get that way especially when you keep hearing everyone else seems to be moving forward in their life and I feel like I've stalled. It isn't that I have given up, just feel like I'm stalled. Well, it is amazing what friends can do for you. One of my usual postcard buddies sent me a letter letting me know she has been dealing with issues in her family similar to my own. Helped to put my own life into perspective. Then a dear friend sent me a package as a surprise from her trip to New Orleans. Everything in the package immediately became something I treasure, including an ornament that is presently hanging on the corner of my mirror. As if I wasn't blessed enough, yet another friend sent me a pick me up in the form of food. Who in their right mind wouldn't smile due to that? I have an incredible bunch of friends, and I am blessed to know and have them to keep me grounded and offer support when I need it.

Then there is the woman who I think of as my daughter. I've known her since she is sixteen and been a honored to be a part of her life. She was there to support me when I lost my mother, and I was there for her and her family when her grandmother passed. Now she is getting married and is twenty five years old. I am to be a part of her wedding party. For her, I would do whatever was needed. She is one very special person to me and one who makes me smile just hearing her hello on the phone. We talked the other night for close to four hours and besides her mother, I was the second person to receive a picture of her in the wedding gown she choose.

So been a bit busy lately. The anthology went live and I promise I still have many reviews to leave. Just been caught up in my life a bit. Hopefully all is going well in the lives of those around me. If I haven't been as attentive as I should, I do apologize. However, I have come back to myself so look out, there are many new beginnings for me and I can't wait to start them.

The kids are back to school, there is a slight nip to the air, and we are barely finished with the first week of September. Guess that means I have new victims, um, I mean volunteers for the new prompts. As usual I hope I have something fresh and tempting to get you to write again.

    Prompt 260 – Creative
    Tag – list of words
Use the following words in a story – plane ticket, watch, broken shoe, flash light, nude statue

    Prompt 261 – Creative
    Tag – The Changeling
One look and you knew the child wasn’t the same one the parents had left the hospital with. How do you explain to the two worried parents that their child isn’t really sick, but that the iron cross that they put on to protect the child is killing it, and that their baby isn’t the one they are crying over. Cursed as you are to see all of reality for what it really is, how do you tell them that their beloved child is a changeling?

It seems that there are three authors who just seem to attempt the prompts regularly lately, for which I am eternally grateful. This time the prompt story chosen dealt with the author using the first line - “So you decided to tell me that now?” We had two authors attempt it and both went for weddings, but Kitt had a more comedic take on it which sort of reminded me of some weddings I've been to. Curious? Well here is part of Kitt's story, Two Weddings and a Nervous Breakdown.

So would you like to know how it ends? Of course you do. You can find the end of Kitt's and Sasha Distan's take on this prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37570-prompt-258-creative/

The attempts at the other prompt last week can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37571-prompt-259-creative/

Remember - All entries for the Fall Anthology - Pandora's Box are due by September 8th. If you are still working on yours, hurry!

In the meantime remember to read, write, and review. Have a good week everyone.

Uh oh, is it Friday already? Where did the week go? I swear I was, well, never mind. So here we are again ladies and gents about to face another weekend. Some of us just keep right on going about our lives while others are preparing for school or have just returned. Before everyone is overwhelmed, well, I have a few things for you to look over and consider. Might you have time to write one more little story? It is prompt time.

    Prompt 256 – Creative
    Tag - List of Words
Use the following in a story – apple tree, broken fence, horse, phone, and a doctor.

    Prompt 257 – Creative
    Tag – Encounter
It has been years since you have even thought about your first love. However they were on the news today and before you had a chance to find out why there is a knock on your front door. As you answer you find yourself face to face with them. What brought about this encounter?

Last week we had takers for both prompts and someone even went back to dig out one of the older prompts and did a good job with it as well. However, I was touched by Sasha Distan's take on prompt 254. The original prompt asked you to use the first line "Since when is that acceptable?”

Now you know there is more to the story and I'm sure you want to read it. You can find Sasha's story and a lot more here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37497-prompt-254-creative/

Our other prompt from last week had a number of attempts as well and they can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37498-prompt-255-creative/

Don't forget to read, review, and let the authors know what you liked about their work.

If you are feeling that you have grown and are ready to join the bigger writing crowd don't forget the Fall Anthology. The subject is Pandora's Box and has to be submitted by the 8th. So get cracking and create something wonderful for us all to read.

    Till next week everyone, enjoy.

I think it is important every now and then to take a moment and think about the various good things that are happening, especially when so many things are going wrong.

Right now I have friends who are watching loved ones dying, facing cancer, or just surgery for various health reasons. They have faced other issues with their health and family, yet they find the strength daily to keep getting up, facing the world, and moving forward. No one said it was easy, or that it wouldn't be painful, but they do it. Luckily for them, they have the support of friends, family, and some have the support of friends they have made here on the site.

I've had my share of troubles this year. I can't complain though. I have had a number of blessings come my way as well. For every back pain, broken heart, and other issue, I've had friends to stand by me, think of me, send me cards and a cookbook. I've been promoted to Hosted here on the site and I still get to drive everyone nuts with my prompts weekly.

I even get to pick the brains of the entire site when I announced my love of smurfs. (Thank you again. In less than three days I managed to get 11 of the 16 due to the advice given to me.)

So even when things go wrong and you feel out of it, remember to look for the people and things that make you smile and help to ease your day to day life. A little thank you now and then can go a long way to making everyone have a better day.
  23. comicfan
You live your life and grow older, but occasionally you show signs if immaturity. I think I can sum this up in one word - smurfs.

Growing up there was only thing I collected, and it was smurfs. Eventually, the shop I bought them from closed and I just varied displaying the ones I had. Then I found out every year they released a few new ones. Those I would find on line and like a giddy little kid order them.

Today, I got a surprise. A little kid came into my job with his mom. While she waited to talk to someone about her computer he ate his McDonald's kids meal. When he finished he began to play with the toy inside. The toy was a smurf. Anyone wanna guess what I bought for dinner tonight? I got toy 12 of 16 of the smurfs. Only problem is how do I find the rest? Lol. Signs of an immature 40+ year old.

It's that time again. Time for me to torture, I mean um, tease you with some new ideas for prompts.

    Prompt 254 – Creative
    Tag – First Line
    “Since when is that acceptable?”

    Prompt 255 - Creative
    Tag – Kidnapped
It is everyone’s worst nightmare. You have gone on vacation and decide to go out and see this new place at night. While you are busy looking in the windows and seeing the people move from place to place, someone has been following you. After a wonderful meal at a nice place, you stop to go to the bathroom and as you go to leave you feel someone grab you and before you can move you slip into unconsciousness. When you awake you realize you are tied up and have been kidnapped. Why have you been targeted?

Last week was a busy week with many writers taking a chance and trying the prompts. Perhaps one of the most emotional was done by Totally. The prompt originally read - As you sit down to finish getting ready on the day of your wedding your parents come in. Your father looks nervous and your mother is just totally distraught, but they tell you they really need to tell you something before you are married. Figuring they are just worried about your wedding, you’re shocked when they sit and begin to tell you something they have kept secret from you your whole life. First they admit they aren’t your parents but the bigger secret is …. What?

There is much more to this story. So go give it a read. You can find it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37446-prompt-253-creative/#entry428882

Our other prompt stories from last week can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37445-prompt-252-creative/

So what did you think of the stories written by our authors? Love them, hate them, want to write one? Please leave a review for our authors. Remember to read, write, and review. Till next Friday, enjoy one and all.

PS - If you enjoy writing prompts try the anthology that is coming up next month. You have time to get your entry in.

Ah, another week nearly complete. That means it is Friday, Ladies and Gentlemen. Of course that means I have something new to try and tempt you with.

    Prompt 252 – Creative
    Tag – List of Words
Use the following words in a story: graveyard, swing, tuba, blue shoes, and a lunch box.

    Prompt 253 – Creative
    Tag – The Secret
As you sit down to finish getting ready on the day of your wedding your parents come in. What?

Every week I attempt to come up with something new. Sometimes the ideas are inspired by things in my life and sometimes by something I see. Last week was a prompt that sort of combined a vampire book I was reading and show on tv where the woman was complaining about her date being sick during the middle of dinner. I combined the two and hoped someone would be willing to take on the challenge. With the authors on this site, there is always someone up to taking on a challenge. Last week the prompt originally read -
The night had been a total disaster. The blind date you had been set up on, threw up half way through the meal all over you. Now as you walk home there is a massive amount of noise coming from the street you need to take to get home. As you turn the corner you see something you never thought you would. Before you are two vampires, fangs and claws flashing as they fight each other, whose mere existence was something you never expected. As the claws slash and the blood flies, you realize they are real and they are moving ever closer to your location. What are you going to do?

Now Mann took up the challenge and decided not only to write it but camp it up too. Read on gentle reader, and hold onto your funny bone while you do.

The rest of Mann's story can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37406-prompt-251-creative/

The other prompt from last week also had a few takers and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37405-prompt-250-creative/

As well as another author adding to the prompt on 246 which can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37326-prompt-246-creative/

So what about you? Did you see a prompt that made you want to write. Well, if so what are you waiting for? We would all love to read it.

Till next week everyone, remember to read, review, and enjoy.
