  1. Until I'm 21? Month and half, sweetheart.
  2. I've built my computer twice already, so installing and uninstalling mobo's is not a problem. It's a PITA, but not a problem. I adamantly REFUSE to run anything newer than windows 2000 pro. XP is unstable and Vista has little support, so Vista will have to wait a few years.
  3. This past January I did a major overhaul on my desktop computer. I replaced the optical burner drive, added another hard drive, upgraded/replaced the power supply, upgraded/replaced the motherboard, processor, and proc heatsink, upgraded/replaced the video card and so on. Some information on the "new" mobo: ASUS A8N-SLU Premium Socket 939 DDR This board was attractive at the time because it enabled me to upgrade my processor and to also upgrade my video card to PCI-e and give me the expandability of SLI in that regard. It also had at least three PCI slot, two IDE headers, and utilized DDR memory. I needed a board with DDR memory because its predecessor was DDR and I didn't have the money left in the budget to replace my existing memory with DDR2. Fast forward to the present and I am in the position when my system simply cannot run efficiently with the amount of memory in it against all of the performance-robbing programs I have. I currently have 512mb of PC3200 DDR memory, which is the current minimum threshold for most applications and games, so it's high time I upgraded. Lucky for me, xmas is around the corner, so I added computer memory to the list of things I want that my parents have been yelling at me to provide for them. My parents are NOT tech savvy, so they handed it to my sister (who works for Circuit City's new FireDog deparment) to handle it. She bitched me out for putting DDR on there since DDR is more expensive today that DDR2. I told her that DDR2 is not compatible to my mobo and she bitched that ASUS even designed a board to use SLI with DDR instead of DDR2. I shopped around online to see if any mainboards could meet my needs and upgrade me, and the offerings are limited at best (shopping at TigerDirect.com). So here's what I'm looking at --> spend a lot of money on old technology, or spend a lot of money to upgrade to new technology when I already sunk $600 into this system a little over 10 months ago. Technically I could replace the memory that is on my list now with a mobo/processor/memory combination from Tiger and get a new heatsink. I told my roommate what's up and said that if I did that and got it, then I could sell my current mobo/processor/memory/heatsink to him since he hates his setup. HOWEVER! This presents two more problems. I need a mobo with two built in RJ-45 ports and two IDE headers. I don't always have need of two LAN ports, but sometimes the need arises. I also have four IDE devices and no SATA devices... my two optical drives and my two hard drives are all IDE. I found one mobo combo on Tiger from MSI that has one LAN port (I can live... get a LAN card if I need it since the mobo has one more PCI slot that I'll need) and one IDE header. I don't know if I can use converting wires and plugs to made my IDE drives use the SATA headers... my current and older mobo both came with tons of SATA cabling, but I don't recall any of them converting an IDE device to SATA. Logically I should upgrade to SATA, but I don't want to spare the expense to replace drives that are still serving me well (two of them purchased and installed in the last major overhaul in January). What do you all think?
  4. "Things Joe has made us do support group" *stands up* Hi, my name is Robbie, and Joe has made me shake my head while conversing with the easily manipulated Doc. *sits down*
  5. Anyone who worries about Kevvers being nosy clearly hasn't met the boy lmfao. I am a witness to the psycho! I remember a conversation once with Doc when she was on one of her tirades and was about to break the door to his office down...
  6. Not AFAIK. I think the best you can do is view their facebook (if they're on your network and not set to private) and see when they last did something in their news feed.
  7. ROFLCOPTER! Haha, I told my friend Jen that I couldn't go bar hopping with her in the city on New Years because I won't be 21 for another two weeks after that... she said, "I have a month... I can get you a fake I.D." Oh god, lol.
  8. Buy a new battery, or buy a new laptop. If the machine you have now still performs its function without fail (unlikely with today's high-powered programs), then you can probably get away with buying a new battery. The only problem you might run into is finding a brand new battery for a seven year old laptop computer. That said, you're lucky got out of it what you did. My MP3 player's old rechargable lithium-ion battery lasted four years, and the guy at Radio Snatch was surprised that it lasted that long. I had blow $60 on a new one straight out of Creative. Again, I would recommend replacing the computer itself. Decent Dell or IBM laptops can be had for relatively cheap, especially around back-to-school time and the holidays.
  9. My opinion shouldn't matter since I've never dated someone before... but I voted for it not mattering. Honestly, the magnitude of infidelity is the same no matter how it is performed. It might be a shock to me if my gay boyfriend played doctor with a woman, or if my straight girlfriend did the horizontal tango with another woman, but I'd be pissed just the same. I wouldn't throw a fit like Vic would, but I would certainly make it a point to never see that person, or the other offending party, ever again (or likely until they came running back to me in tears and apologized, but, like Vic, I wouldn't take their cheating ass back).
  10. Well Doc, I have a feeling that you are not the only one on these forums who is easily manipulated by the man-child known as Joe... though I still don't understand how... I mean I'm well outside of my teenage years (almost 21!) and there are only a few guys who I like and are younger than me... but they hold no manipulative power over me Then again, I sometimes get the feeling that even an old fart like me could get you to do just about anything
  11. We'll be scrooges together then... the girls' apartment is ALWAYS decorated, year round... meanwhile the boys' (mine) apartment is always bereft of holiday decor LOL.
  12. Apparently a lot of things are itching that boy (itching to go to Canada for the next GA meet)... he should have that looked at!
  13. Ski resort? How about Vernon, NJ in December? I go up there regularly during the ski season to board... it's maybe an hour and a half from my parents house in north Jersey.
  14. Then you obviously have never been to the city in June before. Neither have I, but my skyscraper-less hometown gets into the triple digits many times over summer, and I'm an hour train ride from the city.
  15. I never took anyone seriously when they said, "Don't you know you're not supposed to wear white after Labor Day?" I'm wearing a white shirt right now... My friend, Laura, is impressed because it's a polo.
  16. Good job bud. You're doing something that billions of people aspire to do for much of their lives -- find love and stick to it!
  17. Robert Gant, you twit. Mildly interesting list there... but Carl was right when he said that a list of CEO's and politicians would be more interesting.
  18. I just got off of work an hour ago (yup, worked 4-midnight). I stayed up late last night playing Halo 3 with my best friend, and we finished the game at around 3:30AM. I said, "Kohl's opens in 30 minutes, let's do a drive by and see how many people are waiting outside the store." I got to the traffic light near the store where we could just make out the store itself, and a FULL PARKING LOT! I drove around the front of the store and slowly cruised past the entrance... I found out later in the day that a combination of the line itself (with people wrapped in blankets) and the people who were smart enough to sit in their warm f**king cars totaled FIVE HUNDRED PEOPLE for f**kings KOHL'S! The nearest interesting stores were Borders and Verizon Wireless, yet KOHL'S had FIVE HUNDRED people standing outside at 1/4 to 4AM! I was so disgusted with those infidels that I mashed the accelerator to the floor and zipped right on out of there. I found out later that there was a fight (A BRAWL) in the Men's Department. MY supervisor was going to try and break it up... but being that he's quite small compared to other people, he stayed out of it. When I got there it was relatively calm and I just dealt with replenishing the small electronics in housewares from 4pm to midnight. When I got home at 4AM, I text messaged my sister, since she was going in to work at Circuit City at 4AM. They had a line wrapping around the store. Additionally, all employees were required to work from 4AM to 10PM, with a 3 hour break. f**king ridiculous. I was going to see what the day was like as a customer, but elected to sleep in instead.
  19. It's funny that QAF should be dug up now... me and another guy just got about five other people hooked on it haha. Naturally me and him have seen every episode, so it's hard to discuss it with him with everyone else in the room because we don't want to give away any spoilers. I'd said enough already when he said his favorite episode was the one in which and I, unsure of the exact chronological order of events, said that I thought this followed the night when I've said before and I'll say it again, Mikey is my favorite character because he is a genuine friend and is really frickin' cute!
  20. So that's how you unearth the prolific post-whores of GA... just create a thread (by a prolific post-whore) about crowning someone as such and the fighting will surely ensue!
  21. I believe 2010 is the release date for the Volt, according to the 5-year plan the UAW leaked to its members (and now the public). Plug-in hybrids are not common, but they do exist. I believe either Honda or Toyota has one as well, from a few years ago. They might not have mass-produced it, but it seems that GM is intent on doing so.
  22. Whenever I see "colour" in text I always have to take a moment to enunciate the word, which then destroys the whole plot (if it's a story) or the point (if it's an article) and I have start all over again! "Colour" always destroys the fine art of writing, so it should be stricken from all language! The same goes for all other words that add a "u" between "o" and "r". It simply divorces "o" from "r" by attempting to create a threesome that simple cannot work! If you're going to wedge a "u" into every word that has "o" coupled with "r" then do it to EVERY word! Our (in the context of choice)! Moure! Coure! Toure! Floour! Doour! END DISCRIMINATION YOU HATEFUL BASTARDS! Yeah, I'm bored (boured).
  23. Supposedly the Pride Alliance here is going to be hosting a public viewing of For the Bible Tells Me So next semester. The VP is supposed to e-mail the makers of the documentary about getting a copyright for the viewing. Movies I'd recommend: Crash, Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) Corvette Summer (1978) Starring Mark Hamill Star Wars Episode I-VI Dogma Clerks I&II Office Space 007: Goldeneye Stealth Sin City The Island Reign of Fire Men In Black Super Troopers Star Ship Troopers Ocean's 11&12 (remake, never saw the original Swordfish There are more, I just can't think of them right now. I wanna see Hitman and Ocean's 13.
  24. If you purchase an electric plug-in hybrid, then the best thing that you can do is charge it overnight. Those massive electrical plants run 24/7, but on low load overnight. Still, they produce a lot of waste energy overnight, so you can at least not kill the environment in vain by using some of that wasted energy.
