  1. I've been thinking about this and I think that the best "fix" for the distraction factor is regular writing and writing times. It's not going to "cure" it but maybe it can tone it down a little?
  2. <<<----obsures his name so no one can see, puts on a big hat and huge sunglasses and slips in the back with a scarf pulled up to cover most his face. Um, yeah. Is it bad that i have um a recorder that I um have a headset for that I um pretend I'm on the phone with when I'm um... grocery shopping? There is a notebook with the back cover um duct taped to the bedside table so I don't knock it off looking for it and the pen is attached on a string. -- hangs his head in shame -- I have a whole wall in my bedroom dedicated to plotting (when necessary). My son has given up on me. He accepts my "writing weridness". Dates on the other hand...... -- I have an addiction -- oh well got to die of something. papercuts beats the hell out of lung cancer or liver cancer.

    Whew!

well damn and here I was hoping for one of each or two like you.
  4. I'm reading some of the stories I've not read. I like to at least do that before I just pick one randomly.
  5. LUGH! LUGH! LUGH! BESTEST HOSTEDEST! (since no one even remembers he IS hosted half the time)
  6. pouts he wasn't on Jame's list of interesting people now that is a tragedy and something I do not like about this website *sad lugh*
  7. I would like to thank you for volunteering to be my assistant. I've needed one for a while. If you can give me a list of 40 hours that you will be free this week and every week for the rest of your life and an additional 10 on saturday and sunday for training the next six weeks that would be wonderful. You will be given the schedule of 4 hours you will be needed to man the board on all holidays (we get none off), oh and I need to know where to send your pay check to. It's a whopping $8 a month minus bandwidth fees. I think I got a nickel last month, but checks aren't cut until they reach a whole dollar so who knows when that will be. Now, are you a reader, writer, or an editor? we need to know which team to put you on, that will take up at least another 20 hours a week of your spare time. And another weekend of training. By now you must be wondering what your tasks would be... quite simple. You would locate the fidiots on the forums, attempt to recruit them into your position, then post this note: Dear Daffy, We on the Tech Team are hearing your myriad of compaints but I'm afraid we are having a bit of a difference of opinionn here. Please understand that by installing GA Stories we were not trying in anyway to make your life more difficult, but easier. You see, now that the system in in place you can choose to receive notifications from the authors of your choosing, by clicking "like", Or you can forgo this opion. You may also keep notes in your profile in your notes. (profile/edit/my options/my settings/my notes) It's very simple to do. Furthermore we are appalled at your flaggerant abuse of the reputation system and then boasting about it. What a nasty little person you must be to do something so low, so vile, so vulgar, and I do believe in direct violation of the rules. General: (6) harassment of any member, Harrassment:(2) Repeated critical and sharply negative posts towards community members can also constitute harassment. Now I'm sure you didn't intend to harrass any of these nice people, at least not to this post. Below this post. Fair game, you've been warned. Now to your complaints: 1. Without using cookies, can you show me a website that can bookmark your place for you? 2.The story date are what they are, it's when we moved. They will sort themselves out later as some move past that day and some do not. 3. Callous is not a word I would have used. How about tomorrow you go back and give this author the same number of positive ratings to zero out your negetives. That might be helpful and MAKE it recover a little faster. 4. There is nothing skewed about Arbour's 574 and NickJames 74. Arbour has been very active on the site since the rep system into effect and he is well known and generally well liked. NickJames on the other hand is MIA. His points have come from his writing alone and no other source. It's apples and fruitcake. 5. ok I had to laugh for a while at this. You have the right to an opinion. Even if it's the wrong opinion. The author should have recognized it was the wrong opinion and sent you a thank you note for your incorrect perceptions and that would have been the end of that. Then again I will bet you didn't send another note back that said, sorry about your really bad day, maybe we can discuss this when the dog's not dying and the kids aren't crying and the wife's not lying and the boyfriend's not plying...... Everyone needs to grow a thicker skin when it comes to their writing, and to the writing of others actaully. You can't swimm in the big pond little fishies with those soft white underbellies exposed! The sharks will get them every time. So Daffy, when are you reporting again? Lugh
  8. I still want some. I don't want them for my truck.
  9. snickers I want some.

    Chosen

Chosen is the "original" for "A Question of Tine" before I decided to rewrite it. I do have other "dragon tales" I may post them eventually, most need editing.

    It Was A Monday

You will get more Puck! He is coming soon to an Anthology near you.... won't say which one though. It's planned, it's nearly written, and for those of you who know how I write look at the calendar and figure it out! LOL. Yes I meant for the end to be left wide open like that. Thank you for your compliments on flow. Puck is one of my favorites, after working on this "sequel". Kismet is actually a Turkish word that means Fate or Fortune. Puck is from the play A Midsummer's Night Dream -- he is a mischevious sprite Amberly is a unisex name which I felt completly comfortable with, it's from greek origin and has the meaning "ruler of the jewels". However I like the Urban Dictionary's definition as well.
  13. a damn.
  14. let me guess the blogs you are talking about... they (yes there were actually two people before Jacob!) were circulated around here and laughed about, TBH. That is, until the people in question posted some vulgar nastiness both in public and private. However, I (nor the mods, nor admins) went around smearing the names of these people about because we think that is just plain old stupid. We also did not go around giving people negitive rep points for no good reason, which is another thing Jacob has done. Nor do I go about stirring up my readers to post things on my behalf that are inflamitory. Infact, if anyone cares to look here: https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/user/12410-jacobmillertex/ you will see this: Reputation: 320 Getting There! Group:Author: Author Active Posts:32 (0.49 per day) Most Active In:GA.Stories Discussion (14 posts) Joined:01-December 10 Profile Views:1,083 Last Active: Yesterday, 11:15 PM Currently:Offline Which shows he was online barely an hour ago (contrary to his claims of being not allowed onsite) and he is not banned (else he would be in the former members group). So let the facts speak for themselves. Jacob has had a drama queen moment. It is over. End scene. Exit stage left. Cut the lights. Good-bye.
  15. Jacob is still a member of this site. He may be PMed and he may read posts. He may also respond to PMs and posts. He can choose to posts stories, we may choose to publish them. However no one is entitled to any rank. Being hosted is a privledge not a right. The person Jacob emailed/PMed was out due to illness and everyone else was busy moving stories. Jacob was advised not only by staff (myself included) but by his editor to exercise some patience. If he considers 3 weeks patience then I feel sorry for him and anyone around him. There are people who have been waiting several months for this move to take place to be kicked up to promising, much less hosted status. Personally I am appalled that he shared my personal PMs to him and that is a breach of ethics and shows a certian amount of his personality and it's flaws. Although I frankly don't care if he posts the whole damn thing, I've said worse in the Communination Forums. Just so that EVERYONE is aware, I argued extensively to give Jacob a second chance. I'm sorry he blew that and wasted my time. His loss.
  16. ok, my take on this... be nice for now. Play along, call once a week and ask how she's doing, blah blah blah. Maybe she just needs reassurance that you are going to be good parents. She has until 20 weeks to sign the papers. Keep that magic number in mind. Week 21 -- start letting her know, gently, that you are making plans for the baby(s) that do not include her. Do not tell her what they are exactly. It's not her buisness. Tell her you are interviewing nannies if she asks. You are going through an agency like you did to find a surragate. Yes, you are decorating the nursery. Offer to send pictures, there is no harm in pictures of the nursery. As it gets closer to the due date, review your paperwork to make sure that she has no right to any part of your child's life. When you get to the where ever you are going to pick up the baby(s) (probably the hospital) have a plan for dealing with her and stick to it. Make sure there hasn't been a birth certificate filed, and be sure you collect the one with the baby footprints and mum's thumbprints. Also if there are twins, make sure they are clearly marked. Those thick hair bands work well for a while, they arent' too stretchy, but pretty much stay on over a sock. Heh so does a black sharpie on the ass. Anyway, don't let her push you around. She thinks she's got you by the balls right now, but in all honesty, it's a waiting game. Be patient, it's a skill that will do you lots of good for the next thirty years. hugs and kisses.
  17. When I'm seriously stressed I take the 3 year old and put on some silly music and dance. Or we fingerpaint... or do something else totally silly... there is nothing like bringing out the inner child to take a bite out of stress. Dancing with the dogs works too... so does playing the wii naked at 3 am. Don't ask.
  18. passes over the paper bag for hyperventalating Mike, and a pillow, so he don't bang his head too much. you will be fine. keep telling yourself that. just repeat it over and over, post it on your mirror if necessary and make mike say it too. everything will be fine. repeat it, believe it. live it. there is nothing you can do about most of the messes a kid will get you into but smile and clean it up. twins... double that. this too shall pass. they grow up quickly and by the time they are learning to ride a bike you are wondering when they stopped wearing diapers. then they are off to school and having sleepovers and leaving you for overnighters and asking for the car keys. cherish every moment. take lots of pictures. make lots of memories. start now. make a baby book starting with "this is how we looked when we found out about you" "this is what your room looked like before it was a nursery" kids want to know the strangest things when they are six, eight, twelve... journal some of those feelings in "letters to baby", one day your little one will cherish them when they are thinking about becoming a parent. and most of all... enjoy this time together with mike. take a vacation (some people call this the babycation) sometime in may or june even if it's just a weekend getaway. and breathe. just breathe. whatever happens at this point will happen -- the bun's already in the oven and the milk's spilt.

    Chapter 1

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:2863] This is just a test, ignore me.
  20. twins twins twins twins (triplets!) snickers. so how does a virtual baby shower sound? totally gay? amazon here we come! you know they have a wish list and lots of baby stuff, right? and it totally helps GA if we order through the GA gateway, double win. anyway, congrats daddy.
  21. heh it's getting ignored though.. totally ignored
  22. Speghettios? Cop car? Stupid!
  23. I'm in the basket of if you don't put it out there they can't really hold it against you... then again if you put it all out there and basically say, "so what?!?" they can't really hold that against you either. I opted out of the address/phone number deal within a few days of it coming out, and I don't put anything I don't want people to see on my FB page. If someone wants to go through the trouble of tracking my movements through the net... good luck and have fun.
  24. I've never had problems creating characters at all. They always just pop into my head and try to take over. My biggest problem is laying them to rest when the story is done. Meh, I'm not sure plots are "designed". You put a people in a place, give them a reason either to be there or not to be there, and wait. Something will happen. If not, add more people or give them a more interesting place. Pacing is like sex. Different strokes for different folks: some like a lot of foreplay; some like it hot, fast, and dirty. Why restrict yourself as a writer? Write the story so that it fits that story as each is unique. I don't seem to have a problem with this typically. Voice, I think, is one of those things you just have or you don't when you first start writing. It is natural but it can also be eventually learned. It's sorta like a musician who plays by ear I guess. They can learn to read music, but the stuff they play most passionately they've never seen a note of. Of course, in my own universe, I'm the only one. Aren't you?
