  1. Don't put your quill away just yet. My daughter is 12 and reaching the age where she is asserting more independence. She still loves us but increasingly time with friends is overriding time with dads. I see this trend continuing. Recently I met here after school and we went for a hot chocolate and then I was informed that I would embarrass her if we walked home together. I guess I am just her PayPal. The point is to keep up your writing because eventually you will have a bit more time whether you really want it or not. As my partner and I tell each other: the only thing worse than your child growing up is if they do not grow up. So keep writing but don't waste a minute of lil Qs growing up. Enjoy

    Chapter 7

First of all it was a lovely surprise to find a new chapter. So far you have been publishing on a fortnightly schedule so this was a real bonus. I echo Cole's comments about the chapter - well done as usual. The situations and characters continue to be believable and complex. Its good to see Kevin taking responsibility for his reaction to the Trans woman and understandable that she is not welcoming the apology. Her lack of openness was wrong but doesn't excuse the violence. The story is developing nicely and I am anticipating the emerging themes of Book 3.

    Chapter 5

Its funny how sport is still a decade behind the rest of the world. My daughter is in middle school and at least in our area, sexuality is not even a story line; LGBT kids, parents, its all part of the mix. Not so in professional sport. And people accuse teenagers of indulging in drama. What will happen to all the GA story lines when Kevin is more the norm?? For now, we get to follow poor Roscoe's anxiety. That boy needs to open up to someone!
  4. I reread the last chapter of Leopard Spots, treat in itself and then went on to the new book. Excellent start and some new faces. Thanks also for setting expectation of a chapter every two weeks. Next Saturday will be a drag but i can look forward to regular installments. While I enjoy participating in sport, I am not an avid spectator but I have learned that i love to read about Aussie football as much as I love your characters. Welcome back!

    Chapter 1

Ahhhh, the drought is over and only7weeks until the draught Welcome back, it has been a long wait for us fans but already well worth it. The new story lines promise lots of fun, challenges and new faces. Thanks

    Story

I was a little late in finding this but What a great story!! As usual you take us down a windy road of deception and twists. Thanks for that. I feel like a junky who just got his fix. It has been a long time since we could enjoy your writing. Thanks!
  7. Love the story. Carly is a little too simple a character though, a single note. Whatever she ends up being a little more dimension will add to her character and to her role in the story. Thanks for the chapter
  8. The story is progressing nicely. I am a bit confused about Noah though. You have hime pretty isolated from his peers and yet he managed to be elected student council president. Seems a bit of a disconnect

    Vato y Acho

I love the cheekiness of the boys. Hilarious dialogue! True friends always take the piss out of each other. Great read.

    Chapter 1

i love the cheeky dialogue and Peter is a hoot. Great start!!
  11. I agree with Graeme's perspective. I personally generally look for good writing which may or may not include explicit sex scenes. I do feel that some authors feel that sex scenes are a requirement which is a shame as writing good sexual scenes is a specific skill. They can add or detract from the story. Some authors focus too much on the grinding body parts. This can just be tedious. Some of the best sex scenes are not graphic at all but set the scene and let the reader fill in their own details. Sex or no sex I want characters that are believable, interesting and offer the potential for growth.
  12. Glad you are writing again. Great story by the way.

    Chapter 1

A lovely story. I would have liked to have had more time to learn about the characters, there's a bigger story here. Thanks
  14. I like how Marco is being resolved slowly, little steps rather than a single bit of drama. It makes all the related characters more real and multifaceted.

    The Bargain

Great start to your story. I really like its endearing quirkiness. Looks like all the characters so far have their little secrets. Can't wait for the next installment - oh I don't have to since I started this story late!
  16. a good friend of mine is an expat Brit and while we speak the same language and use many of the same works they have different meanings: Tarmac: in Canada associated with an airport runway, in the UK the road surface which we call asphalt Jumper in Canada is a simple dress for a little girl vs pullover or sweater I recognize "whilst" but would always use "while" "shan't" vs "won't" And in Canada spelling is perilous as we sometimes follow British spelling: colour, centre, though and at authorities have adopted American spelling. Spellcheck has made things worse as it always defers to US standards.
  17. Ahhh, Friday night withdrawal! No Saturday story tomorrow, what to do. The only consolation is that i will get out the door early and start my long run on time. I can't wait for book 3 but i really want to thank you for the pleasure of reading your regular weekly instalments. They are truly well written and I will miss the exploits of the Leopards for the next however many months. It will be worth the wait i am sure. You have a special talent. Thank you

    Chapter 57

I have enjoyed both books tremendously and gained an appreciation for Australian Football through your vivd description of the Leopards' games. This last chapter was brilliant in leading us through the last quarter. You had suspense, detailed play and made it all flow seamlessly. For me this is all the more impressive as while I enjoy participating in sport, i am not a great spectator. Now I guess comes a long break until Book 3 gets online. How can we stand the suspense waiting to see who gets drafted, what this does to the ongoing relationships and what happens with Liam and Neil? Saturdays will be torture!

    Chapter 56

I figured that we wouldn't see the match through to the end this week when the bullying broke out in the stands. The Leopards fans have only to wait for one more quarter but the paper Leopard fans have a whole week to wait - there is something wrong with that. Well if it means an extra chapter, i guess that it will be worth it in the long run. Jessica is very wise as she has officially only been a mum of a gay son for a few months longer than Mary. However, she never had the problems dealing with Jim that Mary is working through with her understanding of Neil.

    Chapter 55

Ohh it is bittersweet: the grand final coming up, Neil making progress with his parents, the boys futures in the AFL or VFL. Its been a wonderful ride but I see the end in the horizon. My Saturday morning tea will be dull without another chapter to look forward to. But as you suggested maybe in a few years I will have a new favourite show on the telly - GO LEOPARDS. My consolation is that your creative brain has new adventures in the wings waiting to be told. Wonderful chapter as always.
  21. Great chapter. Interesting how Steven feels that he is dominant and Ian submissive because Ian is smaller and more effeminate. Ian may be a bottom but he is so completely in charge. Well, we all have stereotypes.

    Chapter 52

Great chapter, you just keeping feeding our hopes. One question, is the preliminary final a semi-final or is it a two game final? Now Dad will have his chance to be remarkable in the game against the hawks and ensure his chances for a draft - all for the team though!

    Chapter 51

Great chapter Graeme, 2 fantastic matches (wins for the team making it even better) and developments for Dave and Deon. Here's hoping that the gods are favouring both Deon's and Clarissa's wishes.
  24. That is interesting. I think back in the late 80's Canada modelled it immigration requirements for same sex partners on Australia's which were considered progressive at the time. That came up during the marriage debates here in Canada. It is too bad that Australia has since lagged Canada, Britain, and now even the US. It continues to confound me how we continue to police other people's relationships and "morality".
  25. I see that you are determined to tease us about Jim's prospects in the AFL. He's is invited to a training session - to bring Ty along, a flicker of interest here, a comment there by a scout or recruiter. You string us along just enough to keep flickers of hope alive. With 3 games left in the regular season and then playoffs (likely) you can create moments for each of the prospects to shine or struggle to dangle chances of promotion to the AFL in front of the key players. There is something heartless in you. Be kind if only for Deon, Dave, Jim and Ty's sakes. That all said, great job at creating the tension that the players would be feeling as they try to stay focussed on the team and the season.
