I like the story but find the casualness towards violence and lack of empathy disturbing. i am just a mere trail runner but I know that injuries both hurt and the damage cannot be dismissed at will. While soldiers may need to kill and maim to stay alive, that does not mean it does not take its toil on their hearts and minds.

It is interesting for me to understand the meaning of "respect" and "disrespect" through your stories. I still see these terms as an internalized perception of someone arrived at by based on the actions or values of the person being evaluated as compared to the act of how you show that you are accepting or rejecting of someone's status. I can see that the teenagers in your story however highly prize the outward esteem that they are shown by their peers.

I feel that this story gets darker but I love the light touches in how the 4 boys express themselves

Aceinthtehole, you have got your readers talking smack to your characters!! Wow, thats an accomplishment to make the characters so real that folks forget that they are creatures of your mind doing as you bid. Excellent! Lets hope you help Riley over this cliffhanger.

I'm lining this fractured fairy tale. Its got spunk. And the preppies got game!!

I am liking this tale. Lots of room for growth and misadventure. You have created strong but unique characters.

Great premise, your task is even harder than Reggie's as you are also trying to build a narrative and story arc through the journal entries and plagiarizing Little Red Riding Hood doesn't help you with that goal even if it bumps up reggie's word count. Can't wait for the next instalment.

You really capture the minds and feelings of teens: grown up but still lacking life experience and learning to act on their own behalf with or without consequences. Great chapter. thanks

A wonderful story. I really enjoyed how the shifter aspect was integral to the story but didn't dominate it. I likes how Gerard and Faris could share their love, their dreams and their aspirations as well as their pain.

a little late to this entry but congrats all the same. We have a singleton so no experience with being outnumbered (c Dasha) but we did have 2 dogs as well for a while but alas the elder dog was old and ... It sounds like you are enjoying your family which is the most important thing in my book. Have children because you want them and want to share your lives. the rest works itself out in its own messy way. All the best as you grow your family.

Fantastic end to a great story. A great choice to keep things a little complicated and messy at the end - thats how life unfolds sometimes. In Brett we see what happens if you can't be comfortable with yourself: straight , gay or bi

You nailed raising a teenager and the balancing act between discipline and letting them face their self made consequences. The hangover is the most severe punishment Robbie got and for teenage experimentation it probably serves its purpose. Don and Sue are giving therapy to Robbie; they are getting him to open up, trust their judgement and balancing giving him space with boundaries. As we can see, in a small town it is hard to hide your indiscretions at school or in the community. Another great chapter

Chapter 40 One for the Road
Rndmrunner commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 40 One for the Road
Love the drunken dialogue. Our Robbie is a soppy soppy boy. -
I looked for an explanation of this feature but couldn't find one. Does it simply allow me to mark a PAGE as read or the whole story or something else. Personally I like to bookmark where i am in a story particularly if I am joining a story late and therefore not reading the latest instalment. The feature could have a completely different purpose. Thanks in advance for your help

Chapter 25 The Easter Weekend Part 1
Rndmrunner commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 25 The Easter Weekend Part 1
You have captured Robbie's dilemmas perfectly: he is attracted to guys, he wants to fit in, he has all the bravado and insecurities of his age. Althea and the raging hormones of a 15 year old. In spite of his attempt to be a bad boy , he also has a strong moral core. The battle of the century - id versus superego!! -
Chapter 22 The Guessing Game
Rndmrunner commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 22 The Guessing Game
What I want to talk about in this chapter is not Robbie's love life but the slang definition of a Loonie at the end. "a "common" Canadian "duck-like" bird - ouch hope at least you meant common as in easy to find and not base or tacky -
Great ending - says the guy with the misty eyes.

I can't say how much I am enjoying this story. Many stories have fairly firm: gay, straight, bi divides. Here you present the complex messiness that real life can entail. Your main protagonists are good people who are still growing up and dealing with issues and feelings that they are still developing the maturity to manage. - Amazing

Whatever decision Liam lands on in his love life, he is moving on and maturing, even if he ends up with Alec. I am still shipping for the Marty team though.

I love the story and the characters. Sorry for a bit of criticism now - I understand how you and the other characters want to express their frustration at the attitudes and actions of Corey's mother and Adrian's father but fairly frequent references to them as a "Bitch" or "Bastard" starts to have the opposite effect in the writing. It doesn't redeem those people but dulls the effect of their personalities that you have worked to create. - my opinion only. I also love Corey's gaining understanding about his relationship with Brett - wonderfully simple and complex at the same time.

Its drama dance party time! Just when we thought it couldn't more tense, you take it through the roof

Graeme commented: "Corey needs a replacement friend, and he's trying to make Adrian that friend. However, he doesn't seem to have a lot of experience in making new friends because he appears to have put Adrian in the box called 'friend' that was previously occupied by Brett, and doesn't seem to realise that Adrian is not Brett. The joking and sharing he did with Brett isn't going to automatically work the same with Adrian, and Corey's slow to realise that. I wonder how long it'll be before he realises that Adrian isn't a replacement Brett, but a person in his own right. If he wants any sort of relationship with Adrian (anywhere from good friend to lover) he's going to have to realise that soon, or he'll end up breaking the new friendship just when he can't really afford to lose another friend." I agree with Graeme's comments. They also show the depth of the character development in this story that allows for these distinctions. Brett is also struggling, he can't be what Corey wants but he still cares deeply for him. What is more, he is trying to work through it and hold on to his friendship. Your characters also fully reflect that they are still teens and they don't have all the answers or much life experience as yet. Thanks Ronyx

This story is a comedy/tragedy of misunderstandings between the 2 protagonists. I have a feeling that both characters will grow but it will be painful and uneven. Declan and Bailey are both vulnerable with thick skins.

Another lovely chapter in this endearing tale. I am afraid though that for me, the abundance and the extravagance of the gifts in the end works to decrease their impact. More stuff cannot always be translated into more love, affection, ... At the other end of the spectrum see the O. Henry short story: The Gifts of the Magis, an annual Christmas radio favourite where I live in Ontario Canada. You have created such wonderful characters who are so full of love and goodness that at times the material excess can be a distraction. Will and Liam would be just as much in love if they had nothing. You really are a great storyteller. Okay, enough of the Grinch on my part, keep the chapters coming please.

this story must take place in the Himalayas. We keep scrambling from one cliffy to the next. Always exciting, always tender.
