    Chapter 1

Thanks Myr I'd always loved the faery tales I was told as a child, and I'm glad that I got a chance to share a few of them with GA.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Bill, glad you enjoyed it As I mentioned to a couple of the other reviewers I was raised on my nanna's faery tales. There are a lot of faery tales from around the British Isles (most of them are Gaelic in origin), it was just a shame I could only include a few. Even though most of the fey mentioned have "English" spellings of their names, I've gone with the more traditional Gaelic spellings that I was raised with. I've got a few ideas for expanding this, as there are fey throughout the natural world.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reviewing aditus. Most faeries are not inherently evil, but, like the ones in this story, they will defend their territory when threatened. Even then they are not exactly evil, more like ... cruel ... I guess is the word. However, there are fey out there who are evil and should be avoided at all costs. Just behave thyself in the forest and you'll never have to meet them
  6. Anthology was good for me because it meant I could be sneaky and not post nuffink this week, and still get my name up in bright shiny lights - just don't tell nobody the sneaky plan of the wily sheep ... ssshhhhh
  7. Even though I went to a uni close to home, I moved into halls (actually over my parent's objection, as they felt it was an unnecessary expense given how close my uni was). If I hadn't, then I never would have met my hubby, and we wouldn't have had sixteen happy years together.

    Chapter 9

Poor Rick is now so far down that hole I don't think even Skippy and Ranger Hammond can help him now This is going to explode in a big way when the truth comes out - assuming of course the truth is that Rick is straight.
  9. This has been a busy week. Lots of stories posted. Great to see so many of the promoted authors taking part in the anthology.

    Chapter 1

KC wants to give poor me more work to do? I'd love to expand on this one KC. I think it will be slow going as I have a lot on, but I do have a few ideas of what to do with this story. Are the boys triplets? Actually, I have no idea I guess they must be, but I never actually thought about it. May be I'll decide when I finally get round to writing something more on this one.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Cole. I've always had a thing for fairy tales. My own nana knew hundreds of Welsh faery tales from the smallest five minute tale, through to novella length stuff. She'd make a point of telling me at least one a day when I was younger. How often do kids keep doing things even after their parents have told them to stop doing it? Though with this story, I think it also says that the boys just simply never believed nanna's stories, not until the very end.
  12. On the academic side, I have an undergrad degree called an MEnglish (we don't have these any more, but basically they were four year degrees as opposed to the standard UK three year degrees). They allowed for more in depth study than our usual degrees as the course required three separate subjects to be studied and three 12000 word dissertations in the final year instead of just one (one dissertation per subject area). I think the MMath and MEng degrees still exist (these are maths and engineering undergrad degrees that follow a similar principle). My undergrad degree is in English Literature and Classical Studies with Modern History. I also have a PGC in Healthcare Management (this is equivalent to the first year of a masters). I would love to get my full masters degree, but I'm at a point where I'd only be studying for it the sake of having a masters. I don't need a masters to do my job, or my manager's job or even my manager's manager's job.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Joann. The fey are a friendly bunch, until you slight them. It's actually quite a common theme in stories of fey over here. Some of the stories my own nanna used to tell me as a child gave me nightmares. Glad you enjoyed the story

    Chapter 1

You've created a very vivid world filled with charaters and traditions. Looking forward to reading more.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reviewing Cia. I enjoyed writing this one. A lot of events have now been explained by science, but even now when we are faced with something unexplained we still look for a scientific reason.
  16. Renee has done it to me again. She always does the go live when I'm at work and won't have time to read
  17. Mark, Thomas, and I had spent most of the morning in Sherman’s Wood. Why it was called Sherman’s Wood I didn’t know, it just always had. School had been closed since Monday owing to a gas leak in one of the science labs, and our parents didn’t want any of us hanging around at home unsupervised. The last time we were left home alone, Thomas decided to make some chips for a snack, and forgot he’d left the oven on; he had damned near burned the house down before he even remembered that the oven
  18. From ghoulies and ghosties and long leggety beasties And things that go bump in the night, Good Lord, deliver us. Anonymous Scottish Prayer My two brothers and I had been brought up on my grandmother’s fairy tales. I can remember the four of us sitting by the open fire on a cold winter’s night in her cottage, with a hot milk toddy each, and she would tell us stories that were long forgotten. I also remember on one occasion she invited us for dinner and we were not permitted to talk d
  19. Three brothers were raised listening to their grandmother's fairy stories. They never believed them, until a morning spent in a local forest shows them that not only were her stories true, but also that Nature has teeth. Will the boys survive their encounter with the fey of the forest?
  20. Congrats Graeme Well deserved. Keep up the great writing.
  21. Great piece Cassie. I love fantasy. I can remember when I was 6 or 7 and my mum started reading Lord of the Rings to me at bedtime. Number 3 is a biggie. I have no problem with people bending the rules, but please just no sparkly vampires,

    Chapter 7

Poor Rick. Drew really have unique ways of outing people I didn't realise "You little beauty" was still a popular expression. I can remember hearing it a lot in the 1980s in Prisoner Cell Block H (I think you guys just called Prisoner).

    Chapter 6

So Rick noticed the cute ex-boyfriend. I can't help but think maybe Rick is . . . but he's just . . . then again maybe it's just the sap in me who wants a happy ending.
  24. Andy78

    Chapter 5

I saw that coming. Did Rick really expect Phil to simply go away? Drew will need to keep himself in check when visiting Rick in the hospital, but I guess we'll also find out where Brandon really stands regarding Rick.
  25. There's just not enough of us active Proms to keep up - and it's great to see FrenchCanadian and wrathofmagneto both posting stories We try and we try, and just when it looks like we might finally win for once, Cia comes along and says "Congratulations", and then bippety-boppity-boo we are down a Prom
