Chapter 1 - A Prince is Born
Andy78 commented on Andy78's story chapter in Chapter 1 - A Prince is Born
Thanks for reviewing. I've heard of The Thomas Crown Affair, but never actually seen it. What we've seen so far, the poor are well looked after. Let's hope it stays that way. -

Thanks for reviewing KC. I was tempted to give the story a more modern feel, but I love history and medieval felt right. Yup, Nate knows the big secret. It's just a matter of who is going to have the harder time - Josh or Nate. -
In the city of Rasunal, in the Kingdom of Salania; the evening of the fourth day, of the eleventh lumin (Kask-Lumin), of cycle 2025 of the modern calendar: “Just how many more times can I cry like that?” Josh thought to himself as he dried his red raw eyes, after he had finished crying for the fourth time that evening. Josh had always kept his emotions pretty close to the surface and he wore his heart for the world to see, but today had been one roller coaster ride he really wished he hadn’t e

Joshua is the heir to the crown of Salania, a fact known only to the palace, his aunt, and his boyfriend. At the age of fourteen, he has to leave behind everyone he knew to move into the palace. He has six months until his formal coronation, when his identity will be announced. How will the prince-to-be adapt to palace life? How will he adapt to having no friends? How will he cope without his boyfriend?

Chapter Twelve: Infra-Red
Andy78 commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in Chapter Twelve: Infra-Red
A very emotional chapter. What a horrible thing for Nick to walk in on. I just managed to hold back the tears, until Nick said 'I love you' at the end. As I read more and more, I find myself shifting opinions. At first I thought this story was very much about Dave accepting his sexuality, but it has become clear that Nick has his own issues. For some reason, he even doubts Dave's affections when Dave said 'I love you' after hearing about Nick's mum suicide attempt. -
I really don't know about this. I was a huge Boy Meets World fan and I can remember nearly every episode. Over here, it was probably even bigger than Saved By The Bell was. Also, I had a major crush on Rider Strong and his hair - but hey, what gay kid in the 90s didn't? I am naturally sceptical of these kinds of remakes/revivals, there have been disasters in both film and TV. Part of me wonders how different the storylines will be to when Cory was a child? I'm quite sure there will be the class nerd (must have a new Minkus), their teacher will have to live next door a la Feeney, and no doubt she will have loved a boy in her class since kindergarten ever since saving him from the scary climbing frames. Or maybe that's just me being overly cynical. I hope that this remake/revival does what the original managed to do brilliantly. The entire series was about Cory, while his parents and siblings were in nearly every episode and featured in a few storylines of their own, they remained very much in the background.

Wow! The France/England game was bloody close Not much of a surprise that Wales beat Italy.
-
Here's wishing Wales a successful championship defence I think what will make England's game even harder is that France need to overcome last year's embarrassment of taking home the wooden spoon.

Chapter Ten: Waiting for the Son of Man
Andy78 commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in Chapter Ten: Waiting for the Son of Man
The boys were so cute over the gift exchange. I can remember the agony of buying gifts for boyfriends when I was that age. It's a shame that both boys have a less than ideal Christmas, but at least they found some enjoyment with each other. -
Nice to see Wayne featured **hope someone's warned KC to duck and cover**

Chapter Eight: Because I Want You
Andy78 commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in Chapter Eight: Because I Want You
Poor Nick. Boy must learn more self-control Though I do like how Dave instinctively knows that Nick needs to set the pace in this relationship. -

Chapter Seven: My Sweet Prince
Andy78 commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in Chapter Seven: My Sweet Prince
Mel? Mellie? Surely not Wonder how Nick will react when he realises? -
I know what you mean Zombie. When I was a child, neighbours would offer to give me a ride to school if they were going that way, friend's parents would think nothing about buying us sweets, and there was a group of six of us who would simply play round "someone's house" and our parents didn't always know where we were. Today, these neighbours would doubtless be investigated by the police, and rumours would run amok. All because someone did the neighbourly thing. These child abuse stories have gotten the point where a friend of mine will now only allow her closest family to babysit her daughter. We have sadly lost far more than just childhood innocence. We have lost our faith in the neighbour (when I was a child this was almost as important as family), we have become paranoid and mistrustful of everyone, but worse than that, I know people who now question their own childhood interactions with adults, wondering if everything was an innocent as it seemed.

Chapter Six: Teenage Angst

Even I managed to avoid acting on that impulse in secondary school, and there were a lot of cute boys in my year I wonder just how open the boys will be able to be about their 'friendship'? -
Chapter Five: Bulletproof Cupid
Andy78 commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in Chapter Five: Bulletproof Cupid
Satan shat in his brain I love the way authors come up with these kind of expressions. You'd never hear it in real life, nobody has heard it before, but we all know exactly what you are trying to convey. Pure bloody genius. For a moment I thought you were going to give us one of those cheesy "gay boys in the toilet" scene I hope Nick does speak out at some point. If not for himself, then for his sister. -
Chapter Four: Bruise Pristine

Damn. So close and yet still so far. Zoe's boyfriend is an arse. Hope she finds out what's he's really like and quick (but somehow I doubt it). -
Chapter Two: Taste in Men
Andy78 commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in Chapter Two: Taste in Men
What kind of an idiot does Dave have for a father? Who actually encourages their child to remain at odds with another child. Makes me wonder if there is some reason why Dave's dad doesn't like Nick. -
Enjoyable first chapter. It's amazing how one little thing can be the basis of a relationship - in this case hate. Though I still haven't forgiven the kid who broke my blue colouring pencil when I was five. it'll be interesting to see how far this mutual dislike goes.

I'll either hug him, strangle him, or clip him round the ear Jason is a rare breed. He's accepted the inevitability of his condition, but he's still managed to keep his sarky sense of humour over a lot of things. It's the kids like him that keep me going back. Although there's a lot of illness and death on the ward, it's the kids like Jason who help to remind all of us that we are there to help these kids live and not to simply watch them die.

what time is it at at your place and what you'd probably be doing

It's 16:40 and I'm supposed to be working -
Finished ward round this morning with the on call registrar, about ten o'clock. Acute oncology ward, 18 kids in total, with 7 of those being new admissions this morning. I had lots of scans and blood tests to request, a few referrals to be made, and my own notes to update. I finally finished just before noon, when the duty nurse informed me that one of the kids (a 13 year old boy called Jason, who has late stage cancer) had gone to the toilet about half an hour prior and hadn't come back yet. She had already checked the bathrooms on the ward and there was no sign of him. She'd notified security, but asked if I'd also have a look for him as well. His parents were both on the ward and were naturally anxious, so I said sure I'd help out with the search. Checked all of the bathrooms, the two wards next to ours, and the public toilets on our floor. After searching for about twenty minutes (and getting concerned that we'd either had an abduction or he'd collapsed somewhere) I found him in one of the toilets, smoking a cigarette. I told him off over it and you know what he said to me? "I'm gonna be dead in three months from the cancer. Do you really think one fag is gonna make a difference?" Three and a half hours later, I still have no comeback!
