    You know that a Leopard never changes its spots and Don isn't likely to change from a bigoted pig into a fair-minded, accepting uncle. He truly believes that he was right to come down hard on Robbie, who he sees now as a potential threat to his family and way of life. Robbie has a lot of allies who have forced Don's hand but for the time being but Don is a determined man with many resources and some influential friends. He's unlikely to roll over and die.     I think the no touching rule will be almost impossible to enforce. If Don expects them to behave like friends then it would be unrealistic to expect them not to have any physical contact and pointless unless he plans on installing cameras around the house. I think that Robbie realises this and is happy to accept these terms if it means that his boyfriend can visit. Don and Daniel are hardly ever at home, Sue is likely to turn a blind eye and Nicola would probably encourage them. Don maybe coming around very slowly but I wouldn't hold your breath.     Don obviously knew that Nathan and I were on intimate terms but I think it really hit home when he saw it for himself. It was real, there was no denying it. When he walked in and caught Nathan with his tongue lodged down my throat, it must have been crystal clear to him that I was gay.     Thank you so much for your interest and for your in-depth comment, which is greatly appreciated. It's interesting and very helpful to read what people think of certain characters and very encouraging to receive a comment like yours. That was a lot of reading to do and I'm hoping that you were able to notice a gradual improvement in the writing. I see a lot of mistakes when I read over some of the early chapters and I have been trying to edit them whenever I get the time. Meanwhile, the story goes on and chapter 79 is being posted right now.

    Thanks, AC. I will try and catch 'Forgive and Forget'. London, of course, is fairly cosmopolitan and has a large gay community. Andy's colleagues at work are from a working class inner city background which has always and still does stigmatize gay people. They did well in the 80's and 90's and are sometimes referred to as 'Thatcher's children'. Andy's life would be made difficult for him if he came out, but he probably wouldn't face open hostility. They would regard him as fair game and see it as just a bit of fun, but he would face a relentless barrage of abuse in the form of jokes and nicknames, which they wouldn't necessarily regard as derogatory. They would find it funny but it would eventually make it impossible for him to continue in the company.

    For me, it meant waking up so damn late worth it! I have an excuse though, I've been working the graveyard shift. You didn't have to be a budding Nostradamus, or spend your days looking at tea leaves to have predicted this one, my friend. If ever there was a bloody certainty, it was this promotion. The only surprise as far as I'm concerned is that it took so long. You know how much I appreciate your talents, Parker. Big congratulations, this is so well-deserved!

    I don't see Tyrone as the karate type either, maybe he's just bluffing, we already know he has some serious issues. We'll find out more about those in the next chapter.

    No back gate I'm afraid, the trades have to use the side entrance, but there's only one entrance/exit to the street. I would like to think that he would be far too immature for Amy's taste.

    Don is desperate to get Robbie home where he has more control over his wayward nephew, but as you rightly point out, the hospital is neutral ground where Robbie should be able to talk without fear of being shouted down. Don will need Robbie's cooperation if he is to avoid any further embarrassment and he won't be overjoyed by Nathan's presence either. With Nathan's support, Robbie could be in a very good position.     Thank you for your continued support @Rndmrunner Yeah, I'm working on Don, but it's going to take a lot to turn his character around. I guess every story needs a villain and he fits the bill pretty good.

    We will see if Don's attitude has changed or not, in the next chapter. Daniel has always been a key player in all of this and Robbie will need him on board. It's far from certain if this will happen at the moment but the fact that Daniel has been talking to Nathan should be encouraging. Maybe Robbie will be able to talk Don and Sue into letting him stay at Nathan's house, a lot will depend on how Don deals with the situation. Thanks for your comment as always.

    Thanks @paul.b Robbie definitely needed to get away from Alex and his family. Alex and Luke could be better off out of there too. Maybe that will happen when the police inevitably catch up with Brad. Thanks for following and commenting your encouragement is appreciated.

    Thanks, Tim. As you point out, Robbie is in a good position and can use it to his advantage as long as he doesn't allow Don to dictate the terms to him. If he can stand up for himself then Don will have to back down or lose everything that he's worked for. We need to see a more self-confident Robbie and maybe the more self-assured Nathan can add that ingredient and help his boyfriend put Don in his place if that's going to be possible.

You mention Daniel, who has yet to show his face at the hospital and has pretty much kept out of Robbie's life for the past few weeks. Considering how close they had become this has been disconcerting for Robbie. There a re a few problems that need to be ironed out here before they are able to get back on track.

    Thank you for your comment. Don, it seems hasn't won over too many people with his treatment of Robbie and it's difficult to see him being able to redeem himself. We will have to wait and see what happens with Amy's birthday, but Robbie clearly wouldn't miss this unless he was forced to.

    I think you may be right about the settlements and I don't see Alex having a great deal of success with his complaint if he bothers at all. He will probably think himself fortunate to have escaped without being charged with anything, even though he didn't do anything wrong if that makes any sense. It's a mindset that comes with being a part of a poor criminal family, used to being hassled and often targeted by the police. There is no way, of course, that Robbie would deliberately choose to attend a funeral over his much-loved little sister's birthday, especially as you point out he hasn't been around for any of her others. Unless he wasn't allowed back to the house for whatever reason, but this is just speculation.

    Don's bad timing may be frustrating, but having Nathan present could prove advantageous to Robbie and as you point out, he should insist that he stays. Thanks for your comment.
