Chapter 48 We're not in Love
Dodger commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 48 We're not in Love
Thank you Jeff for your kind review. That was some going reading all 48 chapters in a few days, but I'm glad that you have enjoyed the story so far. Plenty more to come and I hope that you stick around until the end. Reviews of course are always appreciated, and there is also a discussion forum if you're interested in having a say on the story and reading other people's opinions. -
May twenty-four was Victoria Day and a public holiday in Canada, but I couldn’t understand why Canadians would want to celebrate the birthday of an English Queen who died over a hundred years ago. It was something else about this country that didn’t seem to make any sense. Putting gravy on chips, milk in bags, and mounted police who drove around in cars were other examples. It’s no wonder the Americans generally poked fun at their northern neighbours, and I would have done too if I hadn’t of bee

Chapter 48 We're not in Love

Thanks Serko. Yes they have a few decisions to make in the near future and Karen has given them something to think about and a gentle nudge in the right direction. -

I agree, but I think that Karen was trying to say the right thing, rather than encourage them. They are after all still underage. However, despite Robbie's claim that 'they're not ready yet', I doubt if she actually believes that they're going to take her advice when it comes to sex. Robbie has been toying with the word 'love' now for some time, to explain the strong feelings that he has for Nathan, but each time he has been quick to dismiss it as something that he sees as being more acceptable, like a 'crush'. -

Not to worry droughtquake, this is not about me. I've only used my own experiences as a backdrop to the story. I moved to Canada when I was 15 to live with my uncle and his family, but the rest is mostly fiction, and I'm definitely not Robbie. Please keep the reviews coming, because Robbie does deserve some criticism! -
“Oh my God…I knew it; I just knew it.” It was his sister, Karen, standing with her hand over her mouth but she was alone. “I knew there was something going on, I could tell,” she said. Nathan and I looked at one another and then stared back at her in disbelief. It wasn’t what I was expecting to hear and I waited for the inevitable backlash. “How long have you two…? This is so exciting.” She was surprised, shocked even, but she wasn’t angry and I couldn’t understand why that was. I had been caugh

Thank you for your review Redwood. I have tried to keep it realistic and show both side of Robbie. Like most of us, he's flawed and makes mistakes, but he's basically a good guy, who's still figuring it all out, after a not so easy childhood. Point taken about Nathan and I wasn't lucky enough either!

Thank you so much Serko, for your kind words. I'm honoured that you have chosen this story for your first review and I hope that there will be many more. Tim has started a thread for me in the story discussion forum, where you can post any questions or share your opinions on the story with others. I'm trying to drum up a little interest here, so it would be great if you could participate. This story will definitely continue to it's conclusion and the aim is a chapter every week. There's still a long way to go and I hope that it's able to keep your interest.

Yes, even if it is unintentional, I agree that Robbie could have handled this a lot better and he should feel bad about it. Rory may or may not be gay, but he has made it clear that he wants to be Robbie's friend and he deserved better. Maybe he can find a way to make it up to him, without leading him on, if he does, as we suspect, like Robbie in that way. First though, he will need to keep to his promise of watching the World Cup with him.

Chapter 46 The Day After Day
Dodger commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 46 The Day After Day
Thank you for your review Israfil. Nicola does seem to have it in for Robbie, even though, as you rightly point out, he no longer enjoys any special privileges. It's possible that she finds his presence in the house as a threat to her position as top dog. Robbie is much more confrontational than the laid back Daniel and this presents a challenge that wasn't there before. Nicola likes to boss people around, but Robbie, even though he often loses out, doesn't make it easy for her. -
I don't know how to reply to this review Tim and it's hard to find any encouragement there at all in your words. It makes me want to pull the plug on the story altogether, because I'm obviously doing nothing right here!

“What did he want?” asked Daniel. He seemed to be a little surprised on Saturday evening, when I mentioned to him that Nathan had come to the house earlier that day. “I already told him I was gonna be out all day.” I knew that too, which was precisely the reason why his friend had decided to show up. “He brought me some DVD’s over. Monty Python! I had to leave my collection in England.” It was late when Daniel got home and I was ready for bed; sitting at my desk in just a pair of pyjam

Chapter 46 The Day After Day
Dodger commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 46 The Day After Day
Thank you for your kind review, I'm so pleased that you're enjoying the story and I hope it lives up to your expectations. Robbie is a very confused young man, with an eye for mischief, but he means well and has a lot of love to give. Nathan may prove to be the perfect foil and guide for him, but mistakes will be made along the way. -

Thank you Redwood, you make a very valid point with Nicola. It's possible that she may not hate him as much as Robbie thinks. Whatever happens will take time and as everyone knows, including Robbie, he will have to come out very soon, whether he likes it or not. I think it has always been clear that Nathan and Robbie would make a great couple and it's something that everyone wanted to happen. Whether or not their relationship is allowed to blossom without pain, remains to be seen. -
Chapter 46 The Day After Day

Thank you for the review wildone. As you rightly point out, this story is all Robbie's POV and that is worth remembering. Recent traumatic events in his life, coupled with a move to a different country and having to join a family that he hardly knew, has left him confused, scared and unwilling to trust anyone. His has reacted by fighting everyone and breaking the rules, which has only got him into trouble and put up barriers between him and people who could have helped. We have no idea what anyone else is thinking in this story, only Robbie's sometimes paranoid perceptions. -

Thank you Dayne, you make some good points. It's difficult to see how it's going to be possible to fool everyone, especially now that everyone knows about his split with Fran. Daniel maybe the key to everything; he doesn't say a lot, but he's not stupid either. We will see; thanks for the review. -
Chapter 46 The Day After Day

Robbie could probably do with an ally in the family, especially a grown-up one, with a bit of influence. Sue really wants to help him and be a mother to him, but Robbie has had problems with this from the very beginning and won't allow her to get too close. He's still trying to cope with the loss of his real mom and as much as he needs somebody in that role, he's not going to allow anyone to fill that position anytime soon. -

I think that it's going to be impossible to the lid on it for very long. We will have to wait and see what reactions they get from various family members and friends. -
I was woken up on Saturday by somebody shouting in my ear. “IT’S TIME TO GET UP ROBBIE!” It was Nicola and she laughed as I jumped from my dream and lifted my head from the pillow, startled and groggy. I groaned at her and dropped back down pulling the duvet back over my face. In the universal body language of all teenagers, this could be translated into ‘fuck off and let me sleep’ and most people would have understood this and backed off, but not her. “Are you gonna stay in bed a

Chapter 45 Date Night Part 2
Dodger commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 45 Date Night Part 2
Thanks once again Skinnydragon. The general view seems to be that Robbie will soon be out and I think that this is inevitable. Whichever way this happens, it won't be as easy for him, as it was for Nathan and I doubt if he'll get a cake for it either. -

Yeah, I think that Robbie is learning the benefits of being honest, both with his potential partner and with himself. He makes a lot of mistakes, but has a good heart. Nathan and Robbie seem like a good match. -

Whatever happens, Nicola will no doubt play a big part in it, as will Daniel. Thanks again for a great review droughtquake. -
Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse? Nah, way too goody goody for my liking. I prefer someone with a bit of attitude and fallibility like Donald or Daffy. Ducks seem to have the monopoly on this type of character.

We sat holding hands and staring out at the vast expanse of water that they called Lake Ontario. It was dark and foreboding and the only lights were from the small lighthouse at the end of the harbour wall, which jutted out a few hundred yards into the water. We parted hands only briefly whenever somebody walked passed, but those interruptions were becoming more sporadic, as the time edged closer to eleven o’clock. It wasn’t quite paradise, for a start, it wasn’t nearly warm enough, but it was p

Chapter 44 Date Night Part 1
Dodger commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 44 Date Night Part 1
Thanks for your review Redwood. Robbie is a little impetuous and totally infatuated with Nathan, so he may be taking a few too many risks to have any chance of staying in the closet. We will see.
