A very good question. However, it's still too early to indoctrinate Sawyer into Jimmy's other world.

If we go by what Eddie (the unfortunate young man Jimmy had to put down in an earlier chapter) said about the wolf that turned him, the assumption is that the culprit is male.

The full moon crept over the forest’s edge, gradually washing Fergus and his pack in its silvery glow through a cloudless sky. At least sixty men and women of various sizes and ages stared back at him. Most packs numbered below twenty, so commanding one of this size, no matter how ragtag, was an honor most alphas never knew. Given their long lives, the moon limited their numbers, although this pack’s bloodlines were so weak a normal human lifespan was all they could count on. Except Fergus,

Since Fergus's scent mixes with his pack members as part of bonding, he likely catches that much of their scent, but then needs time to recognize which specific wolf it is. All of this assumes he's paid enough attention to commit them all to memory.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out Fergus suspected things for quite a while, but prefers to use Jimmy to handle the situation to prevent bad blood within his pack. Plausible deniability and all that jazz.

In case there's any confusion: a rogue is a wolf that acts with selfish or destructive interests that could harm or endanger the pack or others, and a rabid is a human bitten by a wolf and under the full moon becomes trapped somewhere in mid-shift and becomes a monster. I like to think of them as the basis of werewolf horror mythology in this world.

We'll see more of Fergus soon which should help explain his motivations a little better. Next chapter as a matter of fact.

Jimmy is a total product of his backstory. It drives just about everything he does and even influences how he reacts to Sawyer.

The filthy rich are always the despots, even when they wear a pretty face. You only become a billionaire by exploiting the workers and hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma and never giving me a bunch of money so I don't have to work. -

I love reader theories. This would be so awesome! Although I think Jimmy's scent would attract a potential mate, human or not, and the inner beast is just a descriptive passage showing how Sawyer is picking up oin some of Jimmy's non-human characteristics. The eyesight... I needed a way to keep him from killing himself while running in the forest without light.

Sawyer needed a decent highlight since his coming out to Mom. It was a big moment for him to talk to Jimmy, but I needed him to do it with a bit of awkwardness and inexperience. (What's he's done with men in the past was more partying and cruising than actually getting to know them.) He has to learn all over again.
