The Dream of California
Thorn Wilde commented on Thorn Wilde's story chapter in The Dream of California
Thank you, my love! I like Matilda as well. I think she's pretty awesome. I can promise squishes and kisses in the near future. -
Can't say I'm much of a monarchist myself, but I really like the Queen UK twitter account. It's always gin o'clock somewhere in the Commonwealth!

I read about this today. That fish... did not look pleasant. *shudders*

I'll do you one better; I'll give you my mother's kitchen, which is big enough to work in. Of course! I'm sure Sasha could do with some assistance, too.

I liked it for ya. -
I've driven on this road: I was just the passenger, but still. It was... not entirely pleasant. It's the Troll's Ladder, which is a national tourist road in Møre og Romsdal county in Norway.

Wow! You know, I am in awe of you, Sasha! Will you cater my hypothetical wedding?

Fun World Maps they never taught you in school

I once went with my best friend Edd to visit her dad in Ireland. He drives this banged up old Landrover that's been to Africa and back a few times, and the roads around where he lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere are really narrow and can really only fit one vehicle at a time, and he drives really fast. In addition, there's no actual backseat, so when I was sitting in the back I just kind of had to hold on for dear life and hope against hope that we didn't meet any on comic traffic while we sped down this narrow forest road at about 70 mph. Made me appreciate being alive. -
I found myself almost wishing that I'd found GA back in '02 when I first started posting stories online (I had a different username back then), but then I realised that I've been gone from every community, forum and story archive I was a part of then for like six years, and that the person I posted as back then doesn't really exist anymore. So I'm glad I found GA now, because if I had done so back then I wouldn't be here anymore, probably. I went through a long creative dry spell as far as my writing is concerned, which didn't start to pick up again until a couple of years ago. Now I'm back in the game, and it was exactly the right time to find you guys.

Here's what I made for dinner last night. Baked pancake rolls with mushrooms and bacon Step 1: Make pancakes. The thin, crepe-like variety, preferably, and not too sweet though some sugar can balance out the saltyness of the bacon pretty well. (I cheated, I bought mine in the shop cause I wanted to make something quick.) Step 2: Chop mushrooms (I used common white button mushrooms, but I think it would probably be really tasty with chantarelles or portobello), shallots and smoked bacon. Step 3: Fry bacon. Add onions to fry in the bacon grease. Add a little bit of butter and then the mushrooms. Season with pepper, rosemary and a little bit of thyme. Add cream and let it boil at medium high until the cream is all thick and it's not too saucy. Step 4: Put some mushroom and bacon mix on each pancake and roll them up. Put them in an oven-safe form and grate some cheese over. Depending on the size of the pancakes and how thick you make the rolls, between two and four pancakes per person should be enough. Step 5: Put the form in a preheated oven and bake for a few minutes until the cheese is properly melted and golden. Step 6: Serve with lingonberry jam (if you live near an IKEA you can get it there; if not, American cranberry sauce should be a good alternative). Note: This dish can easily be made vegetarian by simply removing the bacon. If you do, remember to add some salt or the dish will get kind of boring. A pancake recipe: 3 eggs 500 ml milk 200 ml flour 1 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt Mix flour, sugar and salt. Add half the milk, stir until it's even and not lumpy. Add the rest of the milk and whisk in the eggs. Leave for at least 30 mins. Cook the pancakes in a frying pan in butter at medium-high heat. Don't make them too thick.

I would argue that you can't really call it punk unless it has a political message. Not that you can't have political songs that contain love stories, I'm just saying that if it's got sappy lovey-dovey lyrics it's not really punk no matter how fast the drums are.

I actually had about half the story written before I even started posting it, so between my vigorous self-editing (perfectionist, here) and my editor George's pedantic nature, it would really be more surprising if there were any errors to speak of. Thanks for reviewing! I'm glad you're still liking it! -

He meant that the script was funny. I'm glad you liked the chapter! As for Harry, he has a really difficult job. It's pretty much in his job description to always advice Ben in a way that makes sense from a purely PR standpoint, which doesn't always agree with him personally. Harry's basically a good guy with a shitty job, I think. -
CHAPTER SEVEN The Dream of California He looked at her intently over his cup of cider. She stared him down, unwavering. He broke the gaze first, smiling. ‘Is that what you think of me?’ She raised her chin haughtily. ‘You call yourself an honourable man, Lieutenant. My brothers are off fighting as we speak. If you met them on the battlefield, what then?’ ‘Then I would do my duty.’ ‘For king and country?’ she scoffed. He looked back at her, head cocked slightly to one side. ‘Yes. Thoug

There's a fantastic quote from The Blues Brothers, where they're going to play at Bob's Country Bunker and they ask what kind of music they generally have there, and the lady replies, 'Oh, we have both kinds. Country AND western!' I don't particularly like country as a genre, BUT, as with pretty much every other genre out there I am always able to find at least one song that I really enjoy for whatever reason. I try to listen to the merit of the music and not get caught up in genre. So, there's good hip hop, good country, good pop, good skate-punk, good nu-metal, good rap-core and good whatever other genre people seem to get up in arms about. Now, as a peace offering, I give you Hugo's blue-grass cover of Jay-z's 99 Problems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmy113gMds0

He's a fantastic actor for sure. Loved him in Blackpool, too. And in the most recent Sense & Sensibilities miniseries, where he played Colonel Brandon. Didn't think anyone could surpass Alan Rickman in that role, but David Morrissey could.

Are you saying the map is wrong and you think American penises are bigger, or...? -
Epic. People say, 'That's epic!' And I go, 'Yes, I did find it very story-like...'

I don't really like spoiling plots for people, but suffice to say he wasn't a real Doctor. You'll have to watch the episode for more than that, it's all made perfectly clear.
