  1. I've been told it's not good for you to shower more than once a day. If you wash too much you kill off your natural bacterial flora, leaving you wide open for infections. I've also heard that it's even less good for women to shower too often, because too much humidity can cause, well, unpleasant side-effects in certain intimate areas. Also, washing one's hair with shampoo every day is, apparently, both unnecessary and not good for the hair. I have a friend who only washes his hair once a week, and it's the most magnificent mop of brown curls I've ever seen. He's a hotty.
  2. It depends. Some mornings I need a shower to wake up, some nights I stay up too late to shower (the pipes are noisy and neighbours complain), but in general I prefer night. I prefer night in everything, as evidenced by the fact that it's 3:30 AM and I'm still awake, watching deleted scenes from The Thick of It and eating pork rinds.
  3. Agreed. I cannot abide the likes of One Direction.
  4. Your dad's a right twat, isn't he? Oh, ew, ew, ew!!!!
  5. Happy Birthday, Bill!
  6. Welcome, Uziel! Enjoy yourself, there's a lot of good stuff here.
  7. Happy Birthday, Joann!!
  8. I've only seen the first episode of TWD. I always meant to watch more, but then there were other things to watch so I never got round to it... Maybe one day.
  9. I thought that vid was accurate as fuck. That guy there? Me. I always had this idea that when I'd penned my first great novel I would type up the final manuscript on a typewriter before sending it off to a publisher. FYI, and entirely randomly, Hemingway always wrote with a fountain pen, standing up at a tall desk. He only used a typewriter to type the finished manuscript. So I've been told by a dude whose mentor knew Hemingway personally (also Picasso).
  10. Lol! Cia's so popular she gets two birthday threads.
  11. Not necessary if they're new potatoes or some other type with really thin skin (Amandine, for instance).
  12. Yay! Happy Birthday, Cia!
  13. That sounds really tasty!
  14. Unfortunately, the locals don't busk much here anymore...
  15. This will obviously happen at some point.
  16. That's discrimination. If women are allowed to have long hair and just tie it back or use a hairnet, then so should you. I don't see how your appearance could make you any less able to do a job and it really shouldn't factor into it. It's no better to discriminate based on hair colour, tattoos and piercings than it is to deny a girl a job in a fashion store because she's a little on the chubby side, a la Abercrombie & Fitch, or to discriminate on the basis of religious/cultural clothing such as hijab and turbans.
  17. We threw a dinner party once and made Thai Tom Ka Gai soup from scratch, and the broth was waaaaay too salty. I mean, the soup was edible, but really far too salty for anyone to really like it, even my friend who's basicallt addicted to salt and over-salts everything she eats.
  18. For this I admire you greatly. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
  19. Oh, my city has quite a few people who play one chord on the accordion. They're horrible.
  20. That's what I meant. I was saying that Manchester is only slightly less gay-friendly than Sweden, which is the most gay-friendly country in the world if I'm not entirely mistaken. I still think Kemp Town should be renamed to Camp Town. Sadly, there are bigots and homophobes everywhere, but it gets better every day, at least in our part of the world. I long for the day when no one honestly gives a shit anymore and we can all go home happy.
  21. Scotty's from Manchester, though. Which is only modestly less gay-friendly than Sweden.
  22. You just keep telling yourself that, honey. I only buy chocolate cause it smells so good.
  23. You're a very up person, aren't you?
  24. I've done some busking in my time. It's a tough business. Some days you can stand there for hours and make no money at all. But it's awesome when you actually reach people. The contact you get with an audience is so much more immediate than what you get at say a pub gig, because the people who do stop to listen really do want to listen.
  25. Welcome, Wendy! Hope hanging out here can inspire you and get your creativity flowing again!
